Hello Everyone,
Today is the last day of the sneak peaks of the Holiday Release at Newton’s Nook Designs. We saved the funniest and cutest for the last day, we are showcasing the Happy Howl-idays, Slothy Christmas stamp and die sets along with 2 punny new mini sets: Mistle Toad and Fleece Navidad.
All the new products will be available on 19/10/2018 at the Newton’s Nook Designs online store and other craft suppliers too.
SLOTHY CHRISTMAS
I started with stamping and colouring the cute sloth from the Slothy Christmas set using Copic markers. I added some fur details with a grey pencil afterwards, and used a white gel pen to add some highlights. I used the coordinating die set to cut it out.
I die cut a stitched rectangle from a striped patterned paper and backed it with a light blue cardstock. I die cut an oval window which I covered with pine branches (Pines and Holly die set) die cut from green cardstock several times. I also die cut a bow from red glitter fun foam using the same die set.
I used 3D foam tape to mount the frame and the sloth hanging with the help of a silver string. I stamped the sentiment under it with red ink. I covered the candy cane with glossy accents and added clear shimmer to the Santa hat. I also emphasized the eyes with a black glaze pen.
HAPPY HOWL-IDAYS
I stamped, coloured and die cut the cute dogs with their coordinating dies. I love that the dies cut the little holes in between the 2 dogs, so it all looks so finished and worth the investment in the dies. Scissors would never do the same perfect cut!
I wanted to create a nice snowy scene for my dogs so I ink blended a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock with blues and pinks. I added Snowflake paste through the Petite Snow stencil and let it dry. I love this paste as it really looks like snow after drying.
Meanwhile I die cut 3 birch trees using the Forest Scene Builder die set an also 2 grassy borders from glitter white cardstock using the Land border die set.
I white heat embossed a sentiment on a strip of vellum and after assembling the scene, I wrapped it around the top part of the card. Then a bit of glossy accents on the antlers, white gel pen details on the cheeks and scarf and a bit of black gaze pen on the eyes.
MISTLE TOAD
After stamping, colouring and die cutting this cutie, I decided to make a tag. I die cut a white tag with the Fancy Edges Tag die set, a reinforcer from red glitter cardstock and used a piece of patterned paper to cover the bottom part.
I stamped the sentiment in black and used 3D foam squares to mount the image.
I added glossy accents to the bow an berries, and a bit of clear shimmer to the leaves. I finished it off with a green-white twine.
FLEECE NAVIDAD
My approach here was the same as with the cute frog: I wanted to make a tag. I used the same die set for the base, but different embellishments: patterned paper for the top and silver glitter paper to the bottom.
I stamped, coloured and die cut the sheep, added it with 3D foam squares and stamped the sentiment above it with red ink. I also stamped the snowflake from the set with silver Delicata pigment ink. I added a white twine to it, glossy accents on the scarf and clear shimmer on the hat.
I wanted to show you how you can turn a tag into a card as well so I made a duplicate of this tag and matted it with a red tag slightly off set before adding the twine. I chose a snowflake patterned paper as background and the card is ready. Easy-peasy and you have a matching card for your tag.
