Hello Everyone,

I am so excited to share with you the first sneak peeks to the wonderful November Release at Newton’s Nook Designs! We are showcasing 3 stamp/die sets:

They came up with 2 new gorgeous stencil sets too, so unique! Each set contains 2 stencils, which you can layer on top of each other to get a pretty argyle or plaid look. They look amazing on their own, but the sky is the limit when you use them together. Just imagine all colour combinations and layering options. By the way there is a guide engraved on the stencils itself, which helps aligning them. I am in love with these, I must admit!

CHRISTMAS HAUL

For my first card I created the background first using the Plaid stencil set on Bristol Smooth cardstock. I used green distress ink for the first layer and then I aligned the second stencil using the engraved lines and added red ink. I trimmed the panel down a bit and matted it with a light green cardstock.

Then I stamped and coloured the images from the Christmas haul set using Copic markers. I went with the classic Christmas colour combination: red and green. I used a light grey marker to add some shading to the white pieces and used the coordinating dies to cut out the images.

I die cut a red banner using one of the dies from the Frames and Flags die set. I used the partial die cutting technique to make it longer so that not only the images but also the white heat embossed sentiments fits the length.

I popped up the images with 3D foam squares and used a generous amount of clear shimmer on the dress and packages along with glossy accents on some of the details. We need a lot of sparkle during the holidays, right?

MOOSE MOUNTAIN

My favourite set this month I think is the Moose Mountain one. These funny images really make me smile and it is so much fun to colour them! I used Copics and die cut them with the coordinating dies.

I also die cut a stitched rounded rectangle from the Frames and Flags die set, cut it almost in half and popped up the moose images on them using 3D foam squares. I also added clear shimmer to the white parts of their jackets and glossy accents to the ski goggles and snowboards.

While it was drying I create the backgrounds using the Argyle stencil set. I applied Peacock Feathers distress ink on Bristol Smooth cardstock and sprayed it with Tsukineko Shimmer spritz for a subtle shine before shifting the stencil. I then applied Twisted Citron on one panel and Spun Sugar on the other. I got a gorgeous diamond background like this.

Then I added Black Soot distress ink to a little bit of Tonic Nuvo Clear Glimmer paste and applied it over the second stencil in the set. I didn’t have to wait too much for it to dry. After drying I trimmed them a bit to be slightly smaller than an A2 sized card front and matted them with dark grey cardstock.

The sentiments I white heat embossed on a stitched flag from the same die set and used 3D foam tape to adhere them together with the focal panels. I love all the texture and shine I got combining different mediums.

SNOWMAN ADVICE

For my last card today I stamped the sentiment and the 2 adorable snowmen from the Snowman Advice stamp set using Versamark ink and heat embossed it with silver embossing powder on white heavy weight cardstock. I used my paper trimmer to cut around them for a unique shape and used my Copics carefully (they are not advised to be used with heat embossed images as the nibs can be ruined, but I had no problems thanks to the careful application) to add a bit of colour and shading. I also used my favourite clear shimmer pen to add sparkle to the snowmen.

Then I created a winter sky background. I used Nuvo shimmer powders on Distress Watercolour cardstock and spritzed it with water. I dried it with a heat gun and repeated the process till I was happy with how it looked. When it was fully dry I silver heat embossed the snowflakes from the set and used white paint to add some splatters.

I mounted the sentiment panel with 3D foam tape when it was all dry and my card is finished.
