Circus scene with a Bow die – Pink and Main

Hello Everyone,

I am on the Pink and Main blog today with a fun circus card featuring the Life is a circus stamps and dies along with the Extra Large Bow Die, which is perfect for creating a curtain too. Let me show you!

I started with stamping and colouring the images with Copic markers. I went with primary colours this time to get a very cheerful result.

Then I created the background on an A2 sized white card base using Distress Oxide inks and masking paper. I sponged Black Soot first for the ground and to hold the sentiment. Then I added Scattered Straw for the stage and finished it with Tumbled Glass for the background.

Then the fun part: how to create the curtain with the Extra Large Bow die. I die cut the straight ribbon die 2 times form metallic red cardstock and the bow itself 2 times. I adhered the ribbons on the sides of my scene, then on top of that I added a bow die which I kept in one piece. The second bow die I cut in half and tucked it under the first bow from the two sides. Then I trimmed the edges and used a remaining curved piece to be the center part of the curtain.

I stamped the sentiment with black ink, and adhered the elephant and the ring master using liquid glue. Then I added a piece of twine and popped up the monkey with 3D foam squares. I embellished them with a clear shimmer pen and glossy accents, added white details with a gel pen to the cheeks and emphasized the eyes and noses with a black glaze pen. After the scene was complete, I felt I need something to hold the curtains. Instead of a tiny bow I used the newly released Glossy hearts in gold.

I hope you like my little circus scene and I inspired you to look at your stand alone dies in a new way. Until next time, happy crafting!

Die cut shape window card

Hello Everyone,

I am on the Pink and Main Blog today with a fun die cut shape window card featuring the newly released Perfect Couple stamps and coordinating dies. This simple technique will show you how to get more use out of your coordinating dies.

I started with a piece of heavy weight white cardstock which I die cut with the largest Arch Tag die. I placed the coordinating die of the bear couple in the middle of it and ran it through my die cutting machine again. I also die cut the word Congrats from Rose Gold metallic cardstock and adhered it under the die cut shape window. Then I stamped the rest of the sentiment (from the Perfect Couple stamp set) under it using black ink.

On a piece of alcohol marker friendly cardstock I stamped the bear couple and colored them with Copic markers. I used 3D foam tape to adhere this piece behind the die cut window and mounted the tag on a pretty patterned paper from the Watercolor Foil paper pad. I added it all to a white top folding card base.

As a finishing touch I added a bit of glossy accents to the crowns and noses and ran a light pink marker around the edges of the die cut window. Thanks to the embossed edge it was easy to make the frame even. I Love the way it looks! Finally I embellished the top of the card with die cut Rose Gold hearts (also a coordinating die in the Perfect Couple set).

I hope you got inspired and will try this simple technique with your coordinating dies. Until next time, happy crafting!

Koality hugs with Lawn Fawn

Hello Everyone,

I am back today with a cute koala card i made for the current Lawn Fawnatics Challenge Happy Little Critters.

I have recently got my latest Lawn Fawn order from Simon Says Stamp and i had to use the new goodies right away. So i stamped the Koala and a few eucalyptus branches from the I Love You(calyptus) stamp set on Copic friendly white cardstock. Then i used the mirror stamping technique to stamp another koala facing the first one. As the stamping was not perfect, after colouring i used a Copic Multiliner to make the outlines sharp black.

After fussy cutting the images i used my Memento Tuxedo Black marker on the edges to correct any imperfections. I added Ranger black Enamel accent on the eyes and noses and set them aside to dry.

Meanwhile i die cut 2 stitched scalloped rectangle frames (one white and one kraft) and layered them on top of each other a tiny offset. I also die cut some grass from Lawn Fawn Cilantro cardstock with the Grassy Hillside borders. The last elements to cut were the Candy hearts: the Hugs one from Guava cardstock and a plain one from Pixie Dust Sparkle cardstock.

I assembled the scene on a piece of pink striped paper from the Really Rainbow paper pad. I popped up the koalas and the heart they are holding with 3D foam squares. I embellished the scene with a few Studio Katia Cupid’s Kiss Crystals.

I will upload this project to the Lawnfawnatics Challenge #44.

I hope you enjoyed my inspiration for today and will pop in again soon!

See you,

Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – Day 4

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to the last day of the January Release reveals at Newton’s Nook Design! Did you enjoy this week’s posts and reveals? I hope so, there is so much cuteness this month! Today we are showing you 2 new mini sets. Not only are they versatile but also have coordinating dies which makes them even more valuable.

My type

I love typewriters, i have good memories from my childhood and maybe that is why i am dreaming of having a real typewriter again. I was so happy to see the new mini stamp, and coloured it right away pink (without thinking). It looks so girlish 🙂 I also used the coordinating dies to cut it out.

For smaller images my preferred way to put them on cards is to create a background for them. So i applied Distress inks (Worn Lipstick) on a heavy weight white card base and added some Picked Raspberry ink through the Tumbling Hearts stencil.

Then i die cut a red stitched heart and the love sentiment from silver an dark grey cardstocks, layered them on top of each other and assembled the card. As a finishing touch i added glossy accents to the typewriter and scattered some jewels (Studio Katia).

Candy hearts

For my second project i used the heart shaped die from the Candy heart coordinting die set and cut a bunch from Guava and Pink cardstocks. Layered them on top of each other a little offset and white heat embossed several sentiments on them from the Candy hearts stamp set.

Then i adhered them on a kraft scalloped stitched square (MFT) and gave it a light pink mat before mounting it on a square card base. I finished it off with pink twine from Doodlebug.

Pink and Main Sneak Peek January – Sweet Carousel

Hello Everyone,

This is my second post today, and i am here with a magical and very special card featuring new goodies from the January Release at Pink and Main. All new products will be available on 20/01/2019.

I started with stamping the cute Unicorn image from the Sweet Carousel stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink and clear heat embossed it. I coloured it with Zig Clean Colour Real Brush markers and used the coordinating dies to cut it out. Did you know that Pink and Main makes their matching dies unattached? I love that I don’t have to separate them, no sharp edges, ready to use.

Then I die cut also the Magical word die several times from white cardstock and once from Rose gold metallic paper. I stacked them together. I also die cut a white stitched heart with a Double stitched heart die.

For the background I chose a metallic rose gold striped paper from the new and absolutely gorgeous Watercolor Foil paper pad. Oh my goodness, it is such a pretty pad! I cut it down to cover an A2 sized card and heat embossed the rest of the sentiment in white using the new Magical stamp set.

The last step was to assemble the card and embellish it with a few Glossy Rose Gold hearts.

I hope you liked today’s sneak peek, make sure to come back again soon for more fun reveals! Until next time, happy crafting!

Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – Day 3

Hello Friends,

Welcome to Day 3 of the January Release reveals at Newton’s Nook Design! Hoot hoot! Today we are showcasing the adorable Love Owl-ways stamps and dies. Aren’t they so cute?

I started with stamping and colouring all the images in the stamp set with Copic markers. I wanted a bit greyish tone so instead of the E-s i used Warm Greys. I must admit, i love the result. When i was done, i used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I love the rounded edges the dies give!

As i wanted to use as many owls as possible on one A2 card, i CASE-d one of my older cards. I masked off stripes on an A2 sized rectangle and applied Distress inks in red-pink tones (Festive Berries, Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick). I made it a bit ombre effect, keeping the colours darker where i planned to adhere the owls.

When the stripes dried, i removed the masks an ran the panel through my die cutting machine with a stitched rectangle die. I also chose 3 sentiments from the stamp set and stamped them using Picked Raspberry distress inks. These inks were not meant for stamping but with a stamp positioner i always get good results.

After adhering the background to a Fog cardstock and mounting it on a top folding white notecard, i popped up the owls with 3D foam squares. A bit of clear shimmer, a black glaze pen on the eyes and glossy accents to emphasize some details finished off this cute card.

Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – Day 2

Hello Everyone,

It is Day 2 of the January Release reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs and today is all about coffee 😀 I must admit I am addicted to coffee, cannot start the day without 1 or rather 2. But look at all these cups:

For my project I stamped the image with Versamark ink on Bristol Smooth cardstock and heat embossed it with black detailed embossing powder. I usually shy away from using black powders, I rather stamp with Versafine Onyx black ink and use clear embossing powder, but I wanted to be brave this time 🙂 I used an anti-static powder bag generously before stamping and it made the embossing perfect.

Then I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to add colour. I wanted a very colourful card, which can cheer anyone up on a dull winter day. I used a waterbrush to give the watercolour feel.

When it was all dry, I die cut it with the scalloped rectangle from the Frames and Flags die set. I also cut a banner with another die from the set from black cardstock and white heat embossed a sentiment on it. Then I placed it on the painted panel to see where it would go and die cut the edge with the scalloped die.

I gave the panel a black mat and adhered it to a striped background paper. Surprise but I did not use any embellishments, the colours of this cheerful scenes were enough to make it complete.

Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – Day 1

Hello Everyone!

I am so excited to share with you my projects for Day 1 of the January Release at Newton’s Nook Designs! Planner addicts will go crazy about today’s reveals i am sure:

Even though these sets were designed for planners, i would like to show you how you can use these cute stamps on cards.

Newton makes plans

My first project shows one sketch for different occasions. The first card i actually made for myself as by May i really want to lose weight. I need to motivate myself to start going to the gym 🙂 I stamped and coloured the 2 excercising kitties from the Newton makes plans stamp set using Copic markers and used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

I also die cut the phrase “you can do it!” using the Essential alphabet set from heavy weight white cardstock. I used the Frames and flags die set to cut a stitched rounded rectangle from Audrey Blue cardstock (Simon Says Stamp) and adhered the die cut letters and the kitties.

I cut a strip of light green cardstock and a white rectangle mat for the focal panel. I adhered it all to a pretty patterned paper (Lawn Fawn).

My second card is done in a similar way, just horizontal and it follows a birthday theme. I changed up the colours a bit and used celebrating kitties from the new planner set. Aren’t they the cutest ever?

I embellished both cards with some glitter sprinkles from Doodlebug designs.

It’s a plan

My second project has also a birthday theme, but with more masculine colours.

I die cut the same rounded stitched rectangle die from white and from blue violet cardstocks (Simon Says Stamp). On the white one I stamped the checklist and filled with words from the planner set. I used Simon Says Stamp coloured inks: Mint candy, Slate and Blue Violet.

On the bottom I stamped 2 kitties fitting the movie theme and quickly coloured them with Copics.

I added a die cut sentiment on the top of the stamped panel using the Holiday Greetings die set. I stacked 3 layers together for a dimensional look. In the end i decided to stamp 2 little flags around it using Blue Violet ink. then I assembled the card on a matching patterned paper and adhered it to a white top folding card base.

On all my cards I used a bit of clear shimmer and glossy accents to emphasize some details.

Happy Winter square cards with Pink and Main

Today i am on the Pink and Main blog with 2 pretty square cards featuring the Quilt Square 1 die and the Oh deer stamp set. I love to make winter cards, and this stamp set is one of my favourites.

I started with creating the quilt background: I cut the die from different pastel coloured cardstocks and puzzled them together on a scrap sheet of paper. I made 2 cards this time, but I could make so much more if I wanted to use all the little pieces. I find this building a background thing so relaxing and it looks amazing on its own with all the stitched details!

Then I stamped and coloured the deer and the fox from the stamp set. I used Copics in matching colours and I die cut them with their coordinating dies.

Before adhering the quilt panel to a white card square card base, i wrapped a 2 inches wide vellum strip around it. I used tape runner on the back side of my panel to avoid the adhesive showing through the vellum. I added the critters in the middle and stamped the sentiment on the vellum wrap using Staz-on black ink.

A bit of clear shimmer on the cloths, glossy accent on the noses and patterned and a few clear sequins finished these cute cards off.

I hope you got inspired and will try this amazing die yourself! The possibilities are endless. Until next time, happy crafting!

Kitties in the snow – Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello my dears,

How is the weather at your place? It is really getting cold in Budapest, today is was below zero and it started to snow heavily. I am not a winter person, but i do like to play with my kids in the snow – if i can have a hot bath after or at least a hot tea to warm up 🙂

Today i am on the Newton’s Nook Designs blog with these cute kitties playing in the snow. Fits the weather perfectly.

I stamped and coloured the kitties from the Newton’s Holiday Mischief and Newton’s curious Christmas. I used Copic markers and then cut them out with their coordinating dies. While i was at it, i also die cut a stitched rectangle from patterned paper (Doodlebug Designs) and also from white cardstock. From the latter i created a snowbank with the Land Borders die.

It took me some time to find the perfect sentiment, but it was worth the effort. The Fireside friends is a cute smaller stamp set and had the sentiment i was looking for. I used black ink to stamp it on the snowbank.

After assembling the card and popping up the images with 3D foam squares, i decided to add a postage stamp mat to the scene. I used the die from the Frameworks die set (my most used die set i guess) and cut the mat from metallic red cardstock. I adhered the whole scene to a kraft card base.

The last step was finishing touches and embellishments. I added a bit of clear shimmer to the scarves and used a black glaze pen on the eyes and noses. A drop of glossy accent on the carrot and i also added mini black buttons to the snowman! I love how perfectly it fits!

I hope you liked my card and you will pop in again soon!

See you,

Zsofi
