Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Day 1

Hello Crafty friends,

I am so excited to share with you the new release reveals for Newton’s Nook Designs. Day 1 is all about cats, we are showcasing Catitude, a lovely new stamp set, a shaker die set and a fabulous new stencil! YAY! How unique is that???

All new products will be available on Friday, 14/06! And here is my first card:

I started with some ink blending with Distress Oxides on a top folding white note card. I used Candied Apple, Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade and Squeezed Lemonade. After the ink blending I laid the stencil over the card base an went back with the same inks to get a tone on tone stenciled look.

For the shaker part I die cut the paw print base from pale yellow cardstock, and clear acetate (for the window). The paw print part I cut from thick self-adhesive craft foam and red cardstock.

I stamped my favourite sentiment from the Catitude stamp set with black ink on the yellow paw print base and adhered the craft foam to it. I adhered a few yellow jewels on the base and filled each little window with gold tiny beads. I carefully removed the backing of the foam and adhered the acetate. On top of it I glued the red die cut too. As I did not want the white foam to show from the side, I used a red Copic marker to add colour.

Using the Frames and flags die set, I die cut a dark red banner and adhered a black and an orange Meow die cut tiny offset for the shadow effect. I also stamped a fishbone in black and finished the card. I love the sound of the tiny beeds when shaking! So cool!

For my second card, I stenciled very lightly on a white card base some Fog ink. I die cut two hearts from the Darling hearts die set: a red and a light grey one. On the red I stamped a sentiment from the Catitude stamp set. I adhered the hearts tiny offset.

I due cut a bunch of the cat heads from the Paw Print shaker die set from black cardstock and popped them up on the card using thin 3D foam tape. I also die cut the little paw prints from glitter white cardstock and the Meow die from silver metallic cardstock.

After adhering everything in place, I added tiny google eyes to the cats and a teenie weenie red jewel for the nose. Isn’t it cute?

  2. Love the shaker, of course, but also the sentiment you used. One of my faves; love the cat ears.
And the 2nd card is so cute & funny with the google eyes; love that sentiment, too.

  5. Gorgeous colors on the pawprint card. I love how the shaker beads are JUST in the top part. I am also loving how you created the second card using the shaker elements from the die! Such an awesome idea!

  6. I love the googly eyes! That’s a great touch. Most of the designers used the dog theme, thank you for showing how much fun the cat version can be. I especially love the way you used the tiny cat face and paw prints for more than the shaker card.
