Hello Everyone,
It is Day 2 of the July release reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs, and we continue the water fun! Newton’s Perfect wave has the most adorable surfing kitties (it is oh so lovely to colour by the way) and Scuba Newton is a fun smaller underwater set. Both have coordinating dies and will be available on 19/07!

CARD 1
As soon as I saw the surfing kitties I was lost! I fell in love immediately, so i stamped them and coloured them all with my Copic markers even though I had a plan to use only one of the images on my card. It is so relaxing to just sit and colour! I die cut them all with their coordinating dies.

For the background I wanted a flat scenery, which is so easy with the new scene builder edge stencils.

I started with the sandy beach using Antique Linen and bit of Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide inks with the Hills&Grass stencil.

Then I created the water with the Waves&Splashes stencil and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide. I did not mask the bottom, I was just careful when I was close to the sand border. Finally I used the already released Sunscape stencil for the sun rays with Mustard Seed Distress Oxide. I used a very light hand not to make it too strong and faded out towards the edges.

I die cut the panel with the scalloped rectangle from the Frames and Flags die set and stamped a sentiment in the middle of the sun with black ink. Before popping up Newton with 3D foam squares, I used my clear shimmer pen to go through the waves. As the ink is water reactive, it moved the ink and I got a very interesting textured look!

I adhered the panel to a top folding kraft notecard and added some dots to the sand with my brown Copic markers and a white gel pen. A bit of glossy accents on the surf board and on the swimming pants of the kitty finished it off.

CARD 2
For the diving kitty I designed a fun window card.

After stamping and colouring the kitty and a bunch of the fish and plants, I die cut everything with their coordinating dies. Then I started to create the window on my front panel.

I took a navy blue A2 sized cardstock and a white top folding notecard. I temporarily adhered them together and ran them through my die cutting machine with a circle die. Don’t worry if it does not cut through all the way the 2 cardstocks, it leaves enough impression to place it back on the bottom one and cut again exactly at the same place. When it was done, I white heat embossed a sentiment on the navy one.

I recycled the lovely twine NND is using when they send out their packages and tied an infinity knot. I used this tutorial. I adhered the ends of the twine to the back part of my navy panel and I sandwiched acetate in between the layers before glueing them together. At last I adhered a porthole frame (Lawn Fawn die) on the outer edge.

Then I moved to the inside of the card. Using the Clouds stencils upside down with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink, I got the perfect waves. For the sand I used again the Hills&grass stencil and Antique Linen Distress Oxide.

I adhered all the die cut images with liquid glue and added a bit of glossy accents to the goggles, the bottle and the corals.

I also scattered a few Chunky Confetti glitter from Studio Katia to look like bubbles. It is an easy way to add a bit of a bling but keep the card flat.

I also decided to stamp another sentiment on the sand with black ink, it looks so complete this way. And because I am a maximalist I adhered another porthole frame on the inside of the window panel to cover up the die cut edges 🙂
