Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – DAY 1

Hello Everyone,

I am super excited that the January release reveals start today over at Newton’s Nook Designs. We are showcasing the adorable Tides of love stamp and die set. There is also a fantastic new layering stencil coming, called Bokeh hearts (I will show this in action soon!) All new products will be available on 24th January.

Here is my set of cards for today:

As always I started with stamping and colouring the sweet sea critters on white cardstock and coloured them with Copic markers.

I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

From the small images I made extras so I can use them as embellishments.

I wanted a very simple but eye-catching background so I scribbled blue and green shades of Tombow markers on Bristol Smooth cardstock. I used a wet baby wipe to wash the colours. So easy to do and the result is really stunning, don’t you think? I made 2 backgrounds so I can make two cards. I sprinkled them with water and also added some diluted ink splatters (I used Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide ink). I wanted more texture so I added also white acrylic paint sprinkles too.

When the background was dry I cut it with the rounded stitched square die from Frames Squared and white heat embossed a sentiment matching my main character in the bottom right corner.

I made a slightly bigger mat for this panel from Blue Violet cardstock and adhered it to a white scalloped square (cut with another die from Frames Squared). I made card bases from light grey cardstock: 4,25×4,25 inches.

After popping up the main critters with 3D foam squares and adding the little fish as embellishments, I used a white gel pen to add dotted details and used glossy accents on the fins of the fish, the water splatters and the heart.
