Newton’s Nook Designs August Release – Day 1

Hello Everyone,

I am so happy to announce Day 1 of the August Release Reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs! YAY! Even though summer is in full swing in Hungary, this week my blog is gonna be full of Fall goodies and inspiration. Today our Design Team reveals the oh-so-cute Sips and Stories stamp/die set and we have 2 fantastic new stencils too!

All new products will be available on Friday 21/08!

CARD 1

As always I started with stamping and colouring the images from the Sips and Stories stamp set. I made sure to stamp extras from the small images, I love to have them on hand while building a scene. I coloured everything with Copic markers and cut them out with their coordinating dies.

Then I applied white pigment ink over the Mugs stencil on kraft cardstock using a blending brush. I love to use a brush with white ink as I find it gives a smoother result than any other blending tool. When it was dry I cut the panel down with the postage stamp die from Frameworks.

I also die cut the biggest stitched circle from a pink patterned paper from the Doodlebug Hello Sunshine paper pad using the Circle Frames die set. The sentiment I stamped on a stitched cream banner which I cut with a die from the Slimline Frames and Windows set.

I assembled the scene on a white top folding A2 sized card base making sure to pop up some of the books with 3D foam squares for a dimensional look. I finished it off with yellow twine and drops of glossy accents on the hearts and the mug.

CARD 2

On this card I started with the background: I applied Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmelade, Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide inks on Bristol Smooth cardstock. Then I laid the Mugs stencil over the panel and went back wih the same inks. Before removing the stencil I added Gina K Designs Iridescent Glitz Glitter gel to it. After drying it gives a subtle tone-on-tone but very sparkly look with a lot of dimension! I love it!

I did not want to take to much from the background so I die cut a scalloped circle from yellow cardstock and a smaller stitched circle from Guava cardstock using the Circle Frames die set. I also cut a heart from orange cardstock but I added some shading to t with my Copics.

The sentiment is from a not yet revealed set called Heartfelt Wishes (coming soon), white heat embossed on a black banner from the Banner Trio die set.

I assembled the card using another image from the Sips and Stories set, which I popped up with 3D foam squares on the die cut circles along with the heart. I also used 3D foam tape to pop up the whole focal scene on the background, I just love the dimension!

I finished it off with glossy accents on the mug, hairband and the shoes of the girl an covered the heart with clear shimmer.

  1. Beautiful cards! Love the bright pink against the kraft background with the tone on tone stenciled coffee mug background on your first card & love how you showed the versatility of the stencil by using it with glitter gel to make a sparkly background on your second card.

  2. Two beautiful cards! I love that you showed how versatile these products are – two completely different cards with basically the same products!!
