Newton’s Nook Designs August Release – Day 3

Hello Everyone,

We are half way through the August Release Reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs and today it all becomes spooky. There are a few rather cute than scary stamps and dies coming out this month: Batty Newton is a smaller set but it has coordinating dies too, while Spooky Roundabout coordinates perfectly with the previously released Circle Frames. There is another stencil this month called Spiderweb, isn’t it perfect for our Halloween crafts?

All new products will be available on Friday 21/08!

CARD 1

On my first card I started with the background: I laid the Spiderweb stencil over Bristol Smooth cardsock and applied clear Versamark ink with a blendig brush. Then I heat embossed it with Black Sparkle embossing powder from Hero Arts. After it cooled down I added Wilted Violet, Faded Jeans and Black Soot Distress Oxide inks.

Then I stamped the Batty Newton and the little bats on white cardstock and coloured it with Copic markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

I heat embossed the sentiment in white on a piece of black cardstock and added the little starts too using the same black embossing powder as for the background. I cut the strip down to be 1 inch and added a little border which I created with the postage stamp die from Frameworks.

The bats I adhered flat while I popped up th main image with 3D foam squares. No further embellishment this time, I wanted the background to shine.

CARD 2

For my secon card I stamped the Spooky Roundabout stamp on white cardstock and coloured it with Copics. I used a bright blue marker to fill in-between the images and used the Circle Frames die to cut it out.

I wanted a tone on tone spooky background, so I used the Flying bats stencil on black cardstock with Gina K Designs Black Glitz Glitter Gel. I love the look, so cool!

While it was drying I heat embossed the sentiment on a stitched banner from Banner Trio. I assembled the card on a square 4,25*4,25 inches cardbase, used 3D foam squares to pop up the sentiment and the circle so it has a lot of dimension.

I finished it off with some orange twine which I always get from Newton’s Nook Designs as part of their packaging – what a better way to re-purpose those! I also covered the candy canes with glossy accents to make it stand out even more.
