Sympathy card – Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

Today it is my turn over the Newton’s Nook Designs blog and I tackled a challenge: sympathy cards are the most difficult ones for me but unfortunately I needed one for a friend. I created this delicate design pairing the Dainty Daisy stamp with the Hardwood stencil.

First I stamped the daisies with Versafine Onyx Black ink on Bristol Smooth cardstock and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. I repeated the process so I ended up with two bouquets. I used Karin Brush markers to add colour and cut them out with their coordinating dies.

Next I created the background: on another piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock I applied a light grey ink through the Hardwood stencil. I faded it out towards the edges which means I used a super light hand. I used blending brushes because I find it the easiest method to add a light layer of ink. After removing the stencil I added some black splatters to the whole panel.

I die cut the postage stamp die from Frameworks out of black cardstock and also a black banner using the Banner Trio die set. On the latter I white heat embossed the sentiment from Heartfelt Essentials.

I assembled the card, popped up the daisies and the banner with 3D foam squares. As embellishments I stamped a few black butterflies from the Monarch stamp set and used glossy accent on the flower centres. I also added a few drops of glossy accents on the stenciled background for dimension.

This design can work well for any occasions if you change up the colours and the sentiment. I hope you enjoyed today’s card idea and will pop in again soon.

See you,

Zsofi
