Perfect Combos – Lake time

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to another edition of my Perfect Combos series for Heffy Doodle. I am sure you all have a memorable vacation, a place where you would love to return to. For me it is Austria, we spent a wonderful couple of days in the Alps with the kids and friends 2 years ago in June. This place inspired my card for today, where I combined several older and new sets. Let me guide you through the process, and share some tips.

First I have stamped the mountains from Highland Honeys and the ducks, sun and clouds from Quack me up on alcohol friendly cardstock. I used Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers to colour them, the colours I used: mountains & clouds: BG7, BG5, BG4, BG2, BG1, sun&ducks: CT4, CT3, CT1, BO4, BO3. I used the coordinating dies to cut them all out.

Then I worked on the slimline scene. First I die cut 2 stitched rectangles from white cardstock with the Stitched Slimline Trio dies. From one of them I die cut the waves (Slimline scenery dies) and the Little Town border. I added colours with Distress Oxide inks. The water I inkblended with Salvaged Patina and Peacock Feathers, added some sprinkles of diluted ink and also used some Finetec Pearlescent watercolours for some shimmery splatters. It looks so cool in real life with all the sparkles!

To colour the town border I used Heffy Memo Tape to mask off the houses and trees and applied Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide ink for the grass. I added some diluted ink splatters here too, also a bit of Rustic Wilderness and Twisted Citron for a textured look. Then I removed the masks and coloured the trees with Ground Espresso. On a scrap of white cardstock I added some Candied Apple, Mustard Seed and Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxides using a small blending brush. Then I die cut the little dies from the Little Town border die set and adhered them in place. It gives a fun layered look, gorgeous on its own. After blending a little bit of Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide for the sky, I asssembled the scene using Glubert. Using a liquid glue allows a little playing time when creating a scene. I stamped the sentiment from the Close at heart sentiment set.

I die cut a dark grey scalloped rectangle as a mat using the Sweet Scalloped Slimline die set and added a bit of glossy acccents to the beaks of the ducks. The finished card measures 3,5*8,5 inches.

I hope you enjoyed today’s Perfect Combo and will check back later for more inspiration. If you like my cards, please make sure to follow me on Instagram where I also share my happy creations! Thank you!

See you soon,

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Day 4

Hello Everyone,

It is the last day of the June Release Reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs! We have 2 roundabout sets for you today, all summer themed: BBQ Roundabout and Seashell Roundabout both coordinate perfectly with the Circle Frames and Banner Trio die sets (previously released).

All new products will be available on Friday, 18/06/2021!

CARD 1

I stamped and coloured the image from the BBQ Roundabout stamp set with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. The colours used are the following – DR5, DR3, DR1, AP3, AP1, BO4, BO3, BO1, GY2, CT4, CT1, IG10, IG6, DG4, DG3, DG2, AG2, AG1, LG1, BG5, BG2, BG1, EB3, MB3, MB1. I used a Circle Frames die to cut it out.

For th background I chose a super cute paper from the Doodlebug Bar-be-cute pad. I popped up the scalloped circle with 3D foam squares.

I white heat embossed 2 sentimens on black cardstock, one from the BBQ Roundabout set and one from the Mom & Dad stamp set. I cut them out with a stitched banner die from Banner Trio and popped them up with 3D foam squares.

I finished the card with a black glaze pen, I used it on the ants and seeds. I also added glossy accents to some parts of the images so they have a shiny finish.

CARD 2

For my second card I wanted to try something different: I created an alcohol ink background on Glossy cardstock with the following inks: Indigo, Denim, Cobalt, Aquamarine, Laguna, Glacier, Aqua. I used a blending felt pad and blending solution to blend the colours and added drops of Pentart Media Ink too for the shimmer.

When it was dry I die cut it with the scalloped circle die from Circle Frames and white heat embossed the Seashell Roundabout stamp on it.

I added a Blue Violet cardstock strip to a 4,25*4,25 inches square notecard, adhered the circle panel and added a thin muslin ribbon. I clear heat embossed a sentiment on a blue banner (Banner Trio die set) and popped it up with 3D foam squares. I used two clear gems as embellisment.

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Day 3

Hello Everyone,

It is the third day of the June Release Reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs! We have the sweetest littl critters for you today, favouring both cat and dog lovers! Kitten Beach and Beach Barks both come with coordinating dies.

All new products will be available on Friday, 18/06/2021!

CARD 1

I stamped and coloured all the kitties from the Kitten Beach set with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. The colours used are the following – cats: BG9, BG7, BG5, BG2, BG1, FS3, castle: EB4, EB3, MB3, MB1, shell: TN8, AP3, AP1, sand: MB4, MB3, MB1, bucket: DG4, DG3, DG2, CT4, CT1, laddle: BT9, BT7, BT5, BT1, crab & star: DR5, DR3, DR1, chair: EB4, EB3, MB3, MB1, BT9, BT7, BT5, BT1. I used the coordinating die to cut them out.

I die cut a slimline scalloped rectangle with the Slimline Frames and Portholes die set and blended it a bit with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink for the sky. Then I used the Land and Sea border dies with the partial die cutting technique to cut the waves and sand. I blended them with Antique Linen, Blueprint Sketch and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide inks, added water and diluted ink splatters for a textured look.

After assembling the scene on a kraft slimline cardbase I stamped two sentiments in black and popped up the images with 3D foam squares. I used a black glaze pen on the eyes and glossy accents to emphasize some details.

CARD 2

As always I started with stamping and colouring the dogs from the Beach Barks set with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. The colours used are the following – big dog: TN9, EB5, EB4, EB3, TN3, TN1, LG4, LG3, LG1, BP3, BP2, BP1, TB5, TB3, TB1, small dog: TN3, TN2, TN1, LG4, LG3, LG1, TB5, TB3, TB1, CT3. I used the coordinating die to cut them out.

For the background I took a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock and used the Hills & Grass stencil to create the sandy beach with Antique Linen Distress Oxide. Then I masked off approximately in the middle with purple tape and blended the sea with Peacock Feather Distress Oxide, the sky with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink.

Then I used the Retro Palms stencil to create the trees: I used purple tape to cover the not used trees, in this way I could create the trees one by one. I used Ground Espresso for the trunk and Mowed Lawn for the leaves.

When it was done, I stamped the sentiment in black and popped up the dogs with 3D foam squares. I added glossy accents to the sunglasses, flowers, noses and the lifesaver too. I finished the card with a Marwy Snow marker to create the foam. I added dots with it and heated it with my heat tool until it puffed up. So fun!

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Day 2

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to the second day of the June Release Reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs! We continue the summer fun with another two adorable sets: Summer Moments and another cute mini called Newton’s Seashell. There is a super fun new stencil set coming too, Retro Sun & Palms.

All new products will be available on Friday, 18/06/2021!

CARD 1

For my first card I stamped and coloured the girl in the chair from Summer Moments with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. The colours used are the following – chair: EB4, EB3, EB1, MB1, BG2, BG1, BT9, BT7, BT5, BT1; girl: FS8, FS7, BP3, BP2, BP1, CT3, CT1 and BT1. I used the coordinating die to cut her out.

For the background I used the Seashells stencil with Ranger Distress Crackle paste, set it aside to dry and added Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink afterwards with a blending brush. I also sprinkled it with water and dabbed it off with a paper towel after 30 sec. I love the textured look I achieved this way.

To set the scene I die cut a small rounded rectangle from white cardstock using the Frames and Flags die set. Then I created waves with Savaged Patina and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink using the Waves and Splashes stencil. For the Sky I used the Clouds stencil with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink. I also die cut a small piece of another rounded rectangle with a Land border die, I blended Antique Linen and Walnut Stain Distress Oxide inks and added a lot of splatters: brown, black and white. This is how I love to create the perfect sandy beach.

After assembling the card I white heat embossed a sentiment on an aqua banner (Frames and Flags die set) and popped it up with 3D foam squares. I finished the card with a bit of glossy accents on the hat and the mini umbrella.

CARD 2

For my second card I followed the same process: I stamped and coloured Newton’s Seashell with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. The colours used are the following – cat: BG9, BG7, BG5, BG1, FS3, shell: BP3, BP2, BP1, CT3, CT1. I used the coordinating die to cut it out.

For the Beachy scene I created the background first, on a scalloped rectangle (Frames and Flags) I used the Retro Sun stencil with Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmelade and Mustard Seed Distress Oxide inks. Then I used the Retro Palms with a black ink for the trees. I love that layering stencils have the engraved gridlines which help with the perfect placement.

I die cut a scalloped rectangle from blue cardstock and another one from kraft. Then I used the Land border die and also a Sea Border die to create the sea and sand. I used Peacock Feathers Distress ink on the waves and Walnut Stain on the sand for a bit of shading. I added some splatters like on the previous card for a textured sandy look.

I adhered a pink patterned paper from the Whimsy Stamps Summer Breeze paper pad to a white top folding notecard and adhered the focal panel. I stamped the sentiment in black and embellished the sand with some stickers from Jolee’s Boutique. I also added glossy accents to the seashell.

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Day 1

Hello Everyone,

Iam so happy to announce the first day of the June Release Reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs! It is gonna be a fun, summer-themed week here on my blog, I cannot wait to show you everything I have been busy with. Today our Design Team showcases Newton’s 4th July and an adorable mini set called Buns Out. We also have a versatile new stencil, Fireworks, perfect for all kinds of celebrations.

All new products will be available on Friday, 18/06/2021!

CARD 1

For my first card I have stamped the vagon with the rockets and critters from the Newton’s 4th July set on alcohol ink friendly cardstock and coloured the image with Copic markers. I used the coordinting dies to cut it out.

For the background I used the Deco Foil Transfer Gel Duo from Thermoweb with the Fireworks stencil on dark blue cardstock. I usually use a spatula and the Thermoweb Stencil Pal when using any kind of pastes, it makes it so easy to spread it evenly. I set it aside to dry until it was clear and then I foiled it with Silver Shattered Glass Deco Foil using only the pressure of my die cut machine. Honestly I was lazy to heat up my laminator for one card only and the formula of the Transfer Gel Duo allows foiling with pressure only (no heat needed). Perfect solution for me! I die cut the panel with the postage edge die from Frameworks.

I also die cut a rounded rectangle from white cardstock using the Frames and Flags die set. I stamped the Celebrate sentiment on the bottom of the panel and embellished the top with the fireworks images from the Newton’s 4th July set using blue ink.

Another sentiment I white heat embossed on a grey banner (Frames and Flags die set) and adhered it to the focal panel. I popped up the image with 3D foam squares and covered the rockets and stars with glossy accents for a shiny look.

CARD 2

For my second card I had a cute idea inspired by the sentiment in the Buns Out mini set. So I stamped the burger 4 times and coloured them with Spectrum Noir Illsutrator markers. The colours used are the following – Sausage: TN9, EB5, EB3 Bun: GB7, GB4, GB2, MB1 Lettuce: DG4, DG3, DG2 Cheese: CT4, CT3, CT1 Tomato: DR4, DR3, DR1

I used the coordinating die to cut them out and while I was die cutting I also cut a postage edge rectangle (Frameworks) and little stitched triangles as napkins (Frames Squared) from the Doodlebug Designs Bar-be-cute paper pad. It matches my scene prefectly.

I also heat embossed the sentiment in white on black cardstock and cut it out with a fun little ticket die from Frameworks. I assembled the card, popped up the sun-bathing burgers with 3D foam squares and used glossy accents on the sesame seeds and sunglasses as a finishing touch. I think it is my favourite funny summer card till now!

Perfect Combos – Pencil heart

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to another edition of my Perfect Combos series for Heffy Doodle. As a colouring addict, I am in love with the new Pencil Heart die. This time I combined it with some other dies and my favourite colours of cardstocks. Let me guide you through and share some tricks.

First I die cut the Pencil Heart die from various cardstocks: I love aqua, teal and purple together so I used some scraps from my stash. I also die cut it once from cream cardstock and collected all little pieces in a tray.

Then I die cut the background pencil die 3 times from white cardstock and adhered them together. It gives instant dimension without using 3D adhesives. I love the way it looks from the sides too and it is less fragile this way if you want to mail the card.

I adhered the coloured pencils to the white background, it is like playing puzzles. I enjoyed the process and if you use liquid glue like Glubert it is a breeze. For the background I die cut the Quilted Heart Background die from white cardsock and backed it with an aqua one. I adhered the focal panel in the middle.

For the sentiment I die cut the word Colour (included in the Pencil Heart die set) from silver sparkle cardstock and white heat embossed the rest of the sentiment from the Pandtastic Painters stamp set on thin black cardstock strips. I glued them to the middle of the pencil heart and my card is all finished.

I hope you enjoyed today’s Perfect Combo and will check back later for more inspiration. If you like my cards, please make sure to follow me on Instagram where I also share my happy creations! Thank you!

Happy Bird-day – Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

I have a fun little shaped birthday card which I created with dies and stamps from Newton’s Nook Designs. It is perfect for summer birthdays.

First I die cut the scalloped heart from the Heart Frames die set using alcohol ink friendly cardstock and stamped the flamingos from the retiring Flirty flamingo stamp set in the middle. This stamp set is available only until stocks last and now it is only 5,99USD!

I used Spectrum Noir Triblend markers to colour the birds. The colours I used are the following:

  • flamingo: Magenta Blend
  • water: Blue Turquoise Blend and Blue Turquoise Shades
  • sky: Citrus Blend, Orange Blend, Bright Pink Shades, Pink Violet Blend, True Blue Shades, True Blue Blend

I used a colourless blender to help the colour transitions and make the lines smoother. When it was done I covered the water with Spectrum Noir Clear Shimmer pen and added some white gel pen highlights. I also stamped the birds on the sky with black ink.

I added a white heat embossed sentiment on a thin black strip to the bottom and adhered the scene on a pink stitched heart (Heart frames die set)

To make it a card, I die cut another pink heart, creased it quarter of an inch from the top and adhered that little flap to the bottom of the front heart. In this way I have enough space for a message. I finished it off with a drop of glossy accent on the beaks.

I hope you enjoyed my card today and will pop in tomorrow for some more fun!

See you,

Zsofi
