Hello Everyone,
I am thrilled to be part of a Blog Hop between two of my favourite companies: Heffy Doodle and Therm O Web. They both have fantastic products which can easily be combined for fun cards. Make sure to hop along with our Design Teams for a ton of inspiration. There are prizes too!
For my card I first stamped and coloured the images from the Little Shellfish and Oceans of love stamp set. I used Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers, here is the list of the colours I used: crab/star: DR5, DR3, DR1, plants: DG4, DG3, DG, AG1, turtle: DG4, DG3, LG3, LG2, LG1, ray: DP3, DP1, jellyfish: PP5, PP4, PP3, shell: AP3, AP1, stone: BG7, BG4, BG2, narwhal: BT7, BT5, GT3, GT1, crab with shell: PP5, PP4, PP3, GB7, GB4, GB2, shark: TB5, TB3, IB2, IB1. I cut them all out with the coordinating dies.
To set the scene I needed a fun water background. I did some ink blending first on a 8,5*3,5″ piece of white cardstock and added some water and diluted ink splatters to get some texture. When it was dry, I die cut it with a Slimline Trio die. Then I used the Tiny Waves stencil, masked off some areas to get only one wave showing and added Gina K Designs Glitz Glitter Gel Brilliant Blue with a stencil pal in different places. I set it aside to dry for an hour. I love to stretch my regular stencils and use them on slimline cards too.
I needed a sand dune on the bottom of the sea which I cut from kraft cardstock with the Slimline Scenery die. I added some brown, black and white ink splatters to make it more realistic and arranged the sea critters. I used 3D foam squares to pop them up.
I wanted a custom sentiment so I used some black toner sheets and I used my laminator with the Gina K Designs Fancy Transfer Foil Brilliant Blue to make it super shiny. Then I die cut my sentiment using the Stitched Alphabet die, also 2 times from white cardstock and adhered them on top of each other. The last layer was the foiled letter, I adhered it tiny offset so I had a little white shadow. It makes the letters pop even more. The rest of the sentiment I white heat embossed on black cardstock strips and arranged them around the die cut one.
I wanted it to look like a postcard so I die cut the Slimline Mini Mail die from white cardstock and adhered it under my scene. I adhered the rest of the inked background to a white 3,5*8.5 inches slimline card base and added the focal panel.
For the finishing touches I used a black glaze pen, a white gel pen and some glossy accents, I love to emphasize some details that way.
