Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release – Day 3

Hello Everyone,

We are halfway through the Holiday Release Week with Newton’s Nook Designs, but do not worry, there is still a lot to share! We are showcasing today: Christmas Cocktails and Dairy Christmas stamp/die sets. They are so fun and punny!

All new products will be available on Friday, 15/10/2021.

CARD 1

I love to colour drinks – even if myself I never drink alcohol. I stamped and coloured all the glasses from the Christmas Cocktails set using Spectrum Noir Triblend markers. The colours I used: Ice Blue Blend, Alpine Green Blend, Dark Red Blend, Citrus Green Blend, Gold Brown Blend, Blue Turquoise Blend, Pale Pink Blend, Light Yellow Blend. I used the coodinating dies to cut everything out.

I cut a piece of Audrey Blue cardstock and a thinner strip of a patterned paper from the Meowy Christmas paper pad. I wanted a bit of bling, so I matted the patterned paper strip with red glitter cardstock before adhering to the blue one. I stuck it on a white note card and popped up the drinks with 3D foam squares.

I simply stamped the sentiment above the shorter glasses and used my clear shimmer pen to add a ton of sparkle to these festive cocktails. I also used glossy accents on the ice cubes and berries.

CARD 2

For my second card I also started with colouring the main image from Dairy Christmas. This time I used my regular Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: FS4, FS3, FS6, DR5, DR3, DR1, BG9, BG7, BG5, DG4, DG2, TN8, TN7, TN4, CG2, CG1. I cut them out with the coodinating dies.

While I was die cutting I also cut a Fence from woodgrain cardstock, a snowbank using the Land border dies and some pine trees from green cardstock with the Forest Scene Builder die set. For the background I die cut a scalloped rectangle from Frames and Flags and lightly inkblended the middle of it with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink. I assembled the scene and popped up the celebrating trio with 3D foam squares. I chose a pretty plaid pattern from Meowy Christmas as a mat for my scene, it matched my colour palette perfectly.

As a finishing touch I used a Versamarker pen and added Textured White Embossing Powder to the trees and caps and even the snowbank. I heated it with my heat tool until it puffed up. Be careful not to overheat it, because then it looses the texture and will become shiny (like on the cap of the cow). I also used a black glaze pen on the eyes, clear shimmer on the scarves and blanket, and glossy accents on the berries and the little tree.

  1. Both cards are just wonderful & festive.
I love the cocktail set (even though I am
not a drinker). Love the colors you used
    for the animals.

  2. Such beautifully colored cards! Love how you used the new paper to add a peppermint striped border to your first card & the plaid mat to your second card!
