Ornament card – Heffy Doodle

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is blogseriesbanner_perfectcomboswithzsofia_72.jpg

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to another edition of my Perfect Combos series for Heffy Doodle. Christmas is approaching fast and I realized I do not have enough new cards in my stash so I came up with a design which is easy enough to mass produce. And the funny thing is that I used non-Christmas dies, let me show you how.

I started with a piece of white cardstock and quickly blended it with Wilted Violet Distress Oxide ink. Then I used the Fiesta Time stencil and the new Villanious Potion Distress Oxide ink to add pattern. Before removing the stencil I spritzed it with Tsukineko Shimmer Spritz to get a subtle shine.

I made sure everything was dry before I die cut the balloon shape from the Hot air balloon die set. I also cut the basket die from silver glitter cardstock and added some stitching detail to it with the Woodgrain Texture Background die. The texture is not very visible, only if you look at it from close. I adhered the silver “basket” on the bottom of the hot air balloon and turned it upside down…voilá, the perfect ornament! I added silver twine to the top, secured it with scotch tape on the back.

I wanted something with stitching in the background so I chose the Stitched Heart Background die and cut it from white cardstock.

For the sentiment I die cut the word Friend from silver glitter and black cardstocks and layered them on top of each other tiny offset to get a shadow look. I also die cut 2 Curved Banner from silver metallic cardstock and stamped 2 sentiments on them from the Roundabout Sentiments set. I did not want the banners to stick out, so I chopped of the edges right next to the sentiments.

I popped up the ornament on the white die cut background using 3D foam squares and adhered the curved sentiments and die cut word. I love that the ornament is so big that it can hold the sentiments and totally fill an A2 card. I am sure I am gonna make more of this in blue, green, pink and red! Oh and teal of course! I also want to try to use texture paste on the ornaments. They can easily be used as tags too or even real ornaments if we make them double sided!

I hope you enjoyed my card design and will pop in again soon for more.

See you,

Zsofi

Coffee Card Series – Simon Says Stamp

Hello Everyone,

Welcome back to the last day of my Coffee Card Series in honour of the Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. For today I have a Fall coffee card made with goodies from Simon Says Stamp.

First I stamped and coloured the cute dog with the latte and a bunch of pumpkins from the SSS Fall Frenchies stamp set. I used Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers and cut verything out with the coordinating dies.

For the background I really wanted to use the new SSS Coffee Drinks stencil and there was a technique in my mind I wanted to try. So I applied white texture paste on white cardstock usin the stencil and let it dry. After that I did some ink blending with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink. I added black and white splatters of acrylic paint when it was done. This way I got a wonderful tone-on-tone background with a lot of texture. I really need to do this techique more often!

While the background was drying I white heat embossed a sentiment from the same stamp set on a brown banner and added a smaller orange banner under it. I also die cut grass from gree cardstock and shaded it with Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide ink.

I assembled the card, popped up the banner and the dog with 3D foam squares. As a finishing touch I used a clear shimmer pen on the scarf, a black glaze pen on the eyes and nose and glossy accents on the mug.

I will link this up to the Coffee Lovers Fall/Winter Blog Hop.

I hope you enjoyed the last week with me, I had a lot of fun sharing these caffeinated projects. Now it is time to move on to holiday cards, so stay tuned. If you like my style, please follow me on Instagram, where I also share my creations. Your support means so much to me, thank you!

Coffee Card Series – Pink and Main

Hello Everyone,

Welcome back to my Coffee Card Series in honour of the Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. Today’s card fills me with nostalgia as I used to be part of Pink and Main’s Design Team a few years ago. I love this brand ever since and I really enjoyed colouring their cute critters for today’s coffee card.

I started with stamping and colouring the images from the Pink and Main Cozy Critters stamp set. I used Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: EB5, EB4, EB3, RB2, RB1, GB9, GB7, BT9, BT7, BT5, VB1, CT1, LY1, BO4, BO3. I cut everything out with the coordinating dies.

I used the largest of the Pink and Main Stitched Rectangle Set 2 to cut a piece of a pretty patterned paper from their Pumpkin Season paper pad. I also die cut grass from a textured light yellow cardstock and adhered it to the bottom of the patterned panel. I popped up the images with thin 3D foam tape, doubling it up under the squirrel in the middle.

For the sentiment I chose the Thanks word die from Pink and Main, cut the shadow from white cardstock and the word from teal. I also heat embossed a sentiment from the Cozy Critters stamp set on a thin brown cardstock strip and popped it up under the thanks die cut.

I gave the whole scene a teal mat before mounting it on a white card base. As a finishing touch I used a clear shimmer pen on the thanks die cut and also on the scarves of the critters. I emphasized their noses with a black glaze pen and added a drop of glossy accent to the coffee cup and cupcake.

I will link this up to the Coffee Lovers Fall/Winter Blog Hop.

I hope you enjoyed today’s cute critter card and will come back tomorrow for the last day of the Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. I saved the cutest for last 😉

See you,

Newton’s Nook Designs November Release – Day 3

Hello Everyone,

It is the last day of the November Release reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs and we saved the cutest for last. Snow Angel Newton and Snow Angel Puppy are the cutest critter sets for winter and Roll with it is another funny sentiment one.

All new products will be available on Thursday 18/11!

CARD 1 and 2

I started with stamping the cat and dog from both Snow Angel sets and coloured them with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. I used the following colours: CG3, CG2, CG1, IB3, IB2, IB1, TB5, TB3, TB2, TN4, TN2, TN1, FS7, FS6, EB7, EB6, EB5, EB3, EB1, RB1. I cut the images out with scissors this time and to hide the imperfections, I used a black Memento marker on the edges.

For the background I die cut the postage stamp rectangle die from Frameworks from white cardstock and a slightly smaller rectangle from light blue. I cut another white rectangle just a dash smaller than the blue one to get a layered look. From the latter I cut out the snowbanks using a Land border die.

I stamped the outline of the images with light blue ink on the snowbanks. I did not use any masking, just tried to avoid the cat and dog figures with the mini ink pad. It was easy. I stamped aroud it the little snowflakes.

I did some simple ink blending on the blue panels with Blueprint Sketch and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide inks.I white heat embossed the sentiments and assembled the cards. I used action wobblers to secure the cat and the dog, it makes the cards interactive and so playful! I used kraft card bases to make the focal panels stand out.

As a finishing touch I used Stickles on the edge of the snowbanks and the snow angels.I also covered the scarves and caps with clear shimmer and emphasized the noses with a drop of glossy accents.

CARD 3

First I white heat embossed the Roll with it sentiment on an aqua banner which I die cut with the new Bookmark die. I added a stitched teal baner under it (Frames and Flags die set).

On a white scalloped circle I stamped the Snowflakes Roundabout stamp set with All That Jazz Catherine Pooler ink and as it stays wet a little longer than other inks, I could easily heat emboss it with Altenew Translucent Pearl embossing powder.

I made an ink blended background using the same ink, spritzed it with water and dried it before applying White Glitz Glitter Gel on it through the Snowfall stencil.

When it was all dry I assembled the card: I chopped off part of the circle, adhered the banners and popped them up on the frosty background.

Coffee Card Series – Trinity Stamps

Hello Everyone,

Welcome back to my Coffee Card Series in honour of the Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. For today I have a mini slimline card – a format which I have not tried before just always wanted to.

I have recently recieved the Boo Brew die set from Trinity stamps but it was too late for Halloween so I had to use it on a Fall project. I am in love with this die set, so creative and unique! First I die cut the base of the mug from SSS Blue Violet cardstock and the pattern from the Sunny Studio Sweater Weather paper pad. The cream I cut from Cream cardstock, the cinnamon sticks and leaves from two shades of brown. I also cut some golden leaves too from MFT Gold Shine cardstock, it is the perfect Fall embellisment!

I used brown markers to add a little shading to the cream and added some dots too so it looks like it was sprinkled with cinnamon. Yummy. I adhered the cup together so it was ready to mount on a card.

For the background I chose the beautiful Lawn Fawn Gold Rush cardstock, cut it down to be 3*6 1/8 inches, popped up the cup with Simon Says Stamp Big Momma Foam tape as it is thinner than the normal one I use. I stamped a sentiment above it from the SSS Drink Coffee stamp set with SSS Blue Violet ink.

I was looking for the perfect Coffee Word die in my stash which matched my card and chose the Studio Katia Coffee die. I cut the shadow from lighter brown and the word itself from dark brown cardstock, 3 times and stacked them together. I used clear embossing ink and Altenew Transluscent Pearl embossing powder to add a little shine to my word die cut. I repeated the heat embossing 3 times to get a very smooth and shiny result.

Because of the special cardstocks and embossing I didn’t need any further embellishments. I love how this mini slimline card turned out, it was so good to try a new size. And now of course I wanna make a bunch of mugs in different colours…

I will link this up to the Coffee Lovers Fall/Winter Blog Hop.

I hope you enjoyed my caffeinated inspiration today and will pop in tomorrow for more.

See you,

Newton’s Nook Designs November Release – Day 2

Hello Everyone,

It is Day 2 of the November Release reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs. After coffee the second best thing is a good book to ensure the ultimate relaxation. So we have cute stamp/die set called All booked up and also a fun Bookmark die set to showcase today.

All new products will be available on 18/11!

CARD

Giving a book as a present is always a good idea and now you can take gifting to another level with a handmade card. I chose a pretty patterned paper from the new Coffee House Stories paper pad and die cut it with the postage stamp die from Frameworks.

Then I heat embossed a sentiment on a teal ticket which I die cut with the Frames and Flags die set. While I was die cutting I also cut the banner, heart and pawprint from the Bookmark die set, all in coordinating colours. I assembled the banner and popped up the sentiment with 3D foam squares.

I am in love with the “I love books” sentiment die which is included in the Bookmark set. I cut it 3 times from yellow cardstock and adhered them on top of each other. To make it stand out on a busy background I adhered it to a thin strip of grey cardstock. As a finishing touch I used glossy accents on the heart and die cut sentiment.

BOOKMARKS

For the bookmarks I stamped and coloured the images from the All booked up stamp set using Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. The colours I used are the following: BG9, BG7, BG5, BG4, BG2, BG1, AP1, CT3, CT1, TN1, FS6, BT9, BT5, GY5, GY2, JG3, JG1, LY1, PV4, PV2, BT3, BT1, BO4, BO1. The colour inspiration was the patternd paper I used for the card. I used the coordinating dies to cut everything out.

I die cut the base of the bookmarks from white heavy weight cardstock and also from patterned paper. I die cut the Paws here sentiment from white cardstock and the pawprint from blue. I assembled the bookmarks and stamped a sentiment on the front from the All booked up set.

As a finishing touch I added drops of glossy accents to the books, embellished them with ribbon and twine.

Coffee Card Series – clean and simple

Hello Everyone,

Welcome back to my Coffee Card Series! It is Day 3 and I have something clean and simple yet very funny for you. Perfect for a lazy Sunday.

First I took a piece of dark brown cardstock and temporarily adhered the Newton’s Nook Designs Mug stencil on it with Pixie Spray. I needed to fix it because I planned to apply clear embossing ink and it may hav shifted my stencil otherwise. I used the Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Dabber but you can use clear embossing ink with any ink applicator. I heat embossed it with Gina K Designs Dark Chocolate embossing powder. I love the tone-on-tone shiny look!

Then I cut a 2 inches wide strip of cream cardstock and stamped a funny sentiment on it from the Sweet’n Sassy Coffee Talk stamp set with clear embossing ink. Then in a separate container I mixed a little bit of the dark chocolate embossing powder with Gina K Designs Metallic Blush and Altenew Rose Gold. I used this mix to heat emboss the sentiment. As I use a Misti for stamping, it was easy to repeat the process another time: it gives a more raised and smoother result.

When the sentiment cooled down (literally 3 seconds) I stamped a cup from the same stamp set next to it with brown hybrid ink and quickly coloured it with Spectrum Noir Triblend markers: Earth Brown Shades and Gold Brown Shades, Before adhering the sentiment strip to the background I added some glitter cardstock mat to it and used a clear shimmer pen on the mug.

I know my coffee lover husband will understand the joke: we always tease each other with our common addiction to coffee. He likes the Turkish style, very roasted. I love my latte with coconut milk, yummy.

I will link this up to the Coffee Lovers Fall/Winter Blog Hop.

I hope you enjoyed today’s inspiration and will pop in again tomorrow.

See you,

Coffee Card Series – Doodlebug Designs

Hello Everyone,

Welcome back to my Coffee Card Series! It is Day 2 and I brought you a card set made with the adorable Pumpkin Spice collection from Doodlebug Designs. I bought this set a year ago and I had to look at it for a full year to make up my mind and cut in the patterned paper pack and use up some stickers. Please tell me I am not the only crazy Doodlebug hoarder who would love to have 2 of everything to actually use up these cuties!

CARD 1

I used the Heart Frames die set from Newton’s Nook Designs to cut a scalloped heart from cream and a stitched heart from dark brown cardstock. For the background I chose a beautiful leaves pattern from the paper pad. I adhered the Pumpkin Spice Doodle Pops in the middle of the heart and popped up a banner sentiment from the Chit Chat collection using 3D foam squares.

I added another sentiment to the top which makes this card super sweet, like the mug is talking.

As embellishments I used a couple of stickers from the Mini Icon Stickers sheet.

CARD 2

I did not want to let the remaining leaves pattern paper go to waste so I made a second card. I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Windy Backdrop on a piece of cream cardstock and added a strip of patterned paper to the bottom. I could not resist adding a thin strip of aqua glitter cardstock too, it adds the necessary bling.

I used the Beary Cute Doodle Pops and added a Pumpkin Spice Latte sticker from the sticker sheet to the bear’s hand. I chose 2 thought bubble sentiments and a banner one and popped them up with 3D foam squares.

This time I used the adorable bees which came with the bear as embellishments.

These cards came together so easily, the hardest part was to decide that I will use my beloved Pumpkin Spice collection. But it was all worth it, it makes me smile whenever I look at these cards.

I will link this card up to the Coffee Lovers Fall/Winter Blog Hop.

I hope you enjoyed my inspiration for today and will pop in again tomorrow for more.

See you,

Coffee Card Series – Day 1

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to my first ever Coffee Card Series! I have been planning to do this for such a long time, I wish you will enjoy the next week full of caffeinated goodness! (the image source: Background photo created by 8photo – www.freepik.com)

For my first card I chose to feature one of my favourite companies: Lawn Fawn. I used stamps and dies from the latest release just as well as from older ones.

I started with stamping and colouring the images from the following sets: Crazy Antics, A creature was stirring, Holiday Helpers. I used Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers and cut the images out with their coordinating dies. The colours I used: BG7, BG4, BG2, BT9, BT7, BT5, DR5, DR3, DR1, DG4, DG2, EB4, EB3, RB2, RB1.

To set a chilly scene I die cut the Magic Iris Snowflake Add-on from white glitter cardstock and once more from white cardstock and layered them on top of each other for a dimensional look. The white inner circle I die cut with a stitched hillside border die to get a snowbank.

While I was at die cutting I also cut the word Wishes from Peacock cardstock 3 times and adhered them on top of each other. I also cut the largest stitched rectangle from a simple patterned paper from the Let it Shine Snowflakes paper pad.

I assembled the scene using 3D foam squares and liquid glue. It was so much fun to add all the little gingerbread figures and candy canes. Then I stamped the “for you” from Love you a latte stamp set in the middle of the snowlfake frame and white heat embossed “joyful” on a thin black strip of cardstock.

As a finishig touch I used a black glaze pen on the eyes and noses and also glossy accents on the berries and candy canes. I could not resist adding clear shimmer to the mugs, who doesnt’t want a glittery cup? At last I added Stickles to the word Wishes to make it frosty.

I will link this card up to the Coffee Lovers Fall/Winter Blog Hop and to the Simon Says Stamp IG Challenge.

I wish you enjoyed this cozy scene and you will pop in tomorrow for more caffeinated inspiration.

See you,

Zsofi
