Be my Valentine – Heffy Doodle

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to the Valentine edition of my Perfect Combos series forĀ Heffy Doodle, a cute shaker. I don’t make interactive cards often, even though they are easy to make and who doesn’t like to play with a card which makes sound? Let me guide you through the process.

First I stamped the elephant from the Elephant of surprise stamp set and the balloons from the Popping by stamp set. I used my Copic markers this time to colour them, then I cut everything out with their coordinating dies.

Then I die cut the Stitched Hearts Background die from Holy Mackarel cardstock and used the Fancy Nancy Frames die to cut a window. I cut this from red glitter paper again, I needed the small hearts.

I white heat embossed a sentiment from the Special Day Sentiment Duos stamp set on the bottom of the window panel, turned it around and adhered a piece of acetate to cover the window. I added thick 3D foam tape all around, placed sequins, hearts and gems inside and adhered an A2 white top folding notecard to it. The thicker the foam tape, the better your sequins will move. The one from Heffy Doodle is thicker than anything else I have ever tried, it is the perfect choice for shakers.

The last step was some paper piecing: I added a red glitter heart to each whole on the front. It took me a few minutes but I always liked to play Lego.

With this my card was all finished, but I want to give you an advice: if you make shaker cards, follow the “less is more” rule. I clearly overfilled my shaker, which still looks woderfully pretty, but the filling doesn’t move enough.

I hope you enjoyed my card inspiration and you will try yourself at shaker cards too. If so, show us what you make in the Heffy Doodlers Facebook Group.

See you soon,

Love bear – Simon Says Stamp

Hello Everyone,

What is better start for a new week than sharing some love? I am rather sentimental these days and my mood always shows on my cards. Today I brought you something bear-y cute, which I have created with Simon Says Stamp products.

I started with stamping and colouring the cute bear from the SSS Love you beary much stamp set using my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: bear: EB4, EB3, EB2, EB1, MB1, MB05, heart: DR5, DR3, DR1, DR05. Then I cut it out with the coordinating die. After die cutting I used a black glaze pen and went over the stamp sentiment inside the heart to make it pop.

The next step was to work on the background: I used the We R Memory Keepers Hearts embossing folder on coloured cardstock and did a light ink blending with Barn Door, Candied Apple and Aged Mahogany Distress Oxide inks. I added some splatters too.

I stamped a sentiment on the bottom of the panel from the SSS Love Greetings Mix stamp set and the big Love sentiment on white cardstock with red ink from the SSS Love you Beary Much stamp set. I used the coordinating die to cut it out.

After popping up the bear and the sentiment with 3D foam squares, I added a golden frame around them which I have cut with the SSS Frames die set.

As a finishing touch I used glossy accents on the Love sentiment and on the nose of the bear too.

I hope you liked my inspiration today and will check back soon. If you like my cards and would love to interact with me, please make sure to follow me on Instagram as well. It is easier to have real conversations there.

Have a nice day!

National Hugging Day

Hello Everyone,

Did you know that 21st January is National Hugging Day celebrated all around the world? I am a hugging person, I cannot imagine a day without hugs. We do this all the time with my kids and also with my husband. If any of us is sad, the first thing we do is a long and tight hug. Hugs are more important than kisses for our mental well-being, it is so much more than a physical act. It means we are not alone.

Today’s card was inspired by the chilly weather and warm hugs. First I stamped the cute critters from the Lawn Fawn Happy Hugs stamp set, coloured them with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers and cut them out with the coordinating dies. The colours I used are the following: fox: TN8, TN7, TN5, BO3, BG1, BG05, rabbit: MB4, MB3, MB1, MB05, FS7.

Then I die cut the Simon Says Stamp Snowflake frame from white glitter cardstock and die cut a white stitched rectangle which fit in the middle. I created a Blue Violet mat for it before adhering it to the snowflake frame.

For the sentiment I die cut the Simon Says Stamp Winter wishes circle die from Blue Violet cardstock and cut the word “winter” out. I adhered it in place and stamped the rest of the sentiment around it from the Lawn Fawn Happy Hugs stamp set.

After adding the hugging critters, I used a black glaze pen on their noses and glossy accent on the die cut sentiment. Isn’t it cute?

I hope you liked my card today and will come back again for more inspiration. Happy hugging!

See you soon,

Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – Day 4

Hello Everyone,

It is the last day of the January Release reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs but there is something supercute to showcase today: Love Bots. It is a sweet new stamp set which comes with coordinating dies.

All new products will be available on 21/01/2022.

For my card I stamped and coloured the images in rainbow colours. I used Copic markers this time. I cut them all out with the coordinating dies.

For the background I used a 3,5*8,5 inches white cardstock panel and blended some Distress Oxide ink on it: Kitch Flamingo, Spiced Marmelade, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron and Salvaged Patina. I used blending brushes, they make ink blending so smooth and easy. Then I used the new Petite Hearts stencil and used the same colours (I used Mustard Seed for the yellow and Mowed Lawn for the green) to add a tone-on-tone pattern. As this stencil is 6 inches long, I simply shifted it to cover the rest of the panel. Thanks to the pattern the transition is not visible.

After removing the stencil I added some water droplets and dried them after 20 seconds with a paper towel. Then I used the Slimline Frames and Porthole die set to cut it out.

I adhered it to a slimline cardbase (3,5*8,5 inches) and popped up the robots with 3D foam squares. Then I stamped sentimens in black above them.

As a finishing touch I emphasized some details with glossy accents and a clear shimmer pen.

Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – Day 3

Hello Everyone,

We are halfway through the new release reveals of Newton’s Nook Designs, but we have some adorable puppies and kittens today. The new Heartfelt Woofs and Heartfelt Meows stamps coordinate perfectly with the previously release Heart Frames dies. The sentiments were designed to fit in the Banner Trio dies.

All new products will be available on 21/01/2022.

For my cards I wanted to do something a bit unusual from me. No colouring this time with markers, shocking, right? I just wanted to show you how easy it is to use these stamps even if you are not a colourist.

I started with stamping the images on coloured cardstock with clear embossing ink and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. In this way I got a tone on tone look, so pretty! I used the Heart Frame dies to cut them out and did a little inkblending on the edges of the pink heart. The teal one I left untouched so you can see the difference. I think a bit of ink on the edges gives depth, but both look so nice. On both cards I used patterned paper from the new Love & Meows paper pad.

For the cat card I matted the patterned paper with dark red cardstock and added a strip of white cardstock which I matted with teal. Then I used the frame die from the Slimline Frames and Windows to cut the two stitched strips from red cardstock. I could have used ribbon, but I am in love with faux stitching. Then I popped up the heart with 3D foam tape, and added a sentiment which I die cut with the new thin banner die in A7 Frames and Banners.

For the dog card I used the biggest heart to create my cardbase: I die cut two white hearts, scored one if them one quarter of an inch from the top and adhered the flap to the other heart. Tadaaa, my cardbase was ready. I used the same die to cut patterned paper and adhered the focal panel on it. This time I used the Banner Trio die set to cut the sentiment out, but added a thin red banner under it as embellishment.

Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – Day 2

Hello Everyone,

Welcome back to Day 2 of the new release reveals of Newton’s Nook Designs. Today we are all in bloom, introducing the beautiful Orchids stamp and die set.

All new products will be available on 21/01/2022.

I started with stamping the Orchids three times on watercolour cardstock. I used Ranger Disress Watercolour cardstock, I love that it is really white and has a textured and rather smooth side. I used my usual black hybrid ink for stamping, it is from Scrapbook.com. The I used Gansai Tambi watercolours to paint the flowers. I hardly ever use real watercolour and I must admit it felt so good to try something out of my comfort zone. When I was done and the paint was dry, I die cut them all with their coordinating dies.

For the background I created a light washed watercolour background with the same palette. I used a wider brush and made the cardstock wet before I added the colours. I made sure it was dry before I die cut it with the scalloped rectangle from Frames and Flags.

I stamped the sentiment with clear embossing ink on a black banner and white heat embossed it. I used the scalloped rectangle die to cut the edge of the banner.

I assembled the card, arranging the three flowers so they look one. As a finishing touch I used tiny clear sequins all around the cluster of flowers.

Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – Day 1

Hello Everyone,

I am so excited to announce a new release coming from Newton’s Nook Designs. On Day 1 we are showcasing the adorable Knead kitten stamp/die set, a lovely new paper pad called Love and Meows, the Petite Hearts stencil and a fantastic new die set called A7 Frames and Banners.

All new products will be available on 21/01/2022.

For my cards today I started with stamping the kitties from the Knead kitten stamp set. I coloured them with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: EB4, EB2, GB3, GB1, GB05, RB2, RB1, FS4, FS7. I used the coordinating dies to cut them all out.

I wanted to create a similar design just in two different sizes: A2 and A7. So I die cut the scalloped rectangle from the new A7 Frames and Banners set and from the Frames and flags die set from kraft cardstock. Then I cut patterned paper from the new paper pad to fit inside the stitching lines. I love the faux stitching so I did not want to cover it up.

I chose sentiments from the Knead Kitten set and white heat embossed them on red cardstock. One I cut out with a banner from the A7 Frames and Banners set and the other one with a circle die from Circle Frames. To make the sentiments stand out, I die cut another kraft banner with the A7 Frames and Banners set and layered it under the red panels.

I used 3D foam squares to pop up the sentiments on the cards and adhered the kittens with liquid glue. The card bases are 5*7 inches and 4,25*5,5 inches.

Snow much fun – Heffy Doodle

Hello Everyone,

It is my first card this year for my Perfect Combos series for Heffy Doodle, and as it is getting super chilly here in Budapest (-10 °C is in the forecast, brrr for me), I allowed my favourite little mice to have some snow-fun. I mixed and matched a few stamps and dies to create this happy scenecard, let me guide you through the process.

First I stamped and coloured the images from Wanna build a snowman and Hello Squeakhearts. I used Copic makers this time and cut everything out with their coordinating dies. I love that the dies for the mice cut under the arms of the critters, so it is easy to add something to their paws.

For the background I took a Stitched rectangle die and cut it from white glitter cardstock and also from Ice Blast cardstock. I did some simple ink blending with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink on the top of the blue panel and added some white acrylic paint splatters. I made sure it was dry before I added some Gina K White Glitz Glitter Gel from Thermoweb through the First Snow stencil. It is very subtle but beautiful! Sparkly like real snow!

I used the Stitched Slopey Joes dies to cut the snowbanks from the white glitter cardstock rectangle and also cut some pine trees from Wintergreen cardstock using the Forest Builder die set. I love to add a little shading to my die cuts, so I used Pine Needles Distress Oxide ink for this.

I assembled the scene using thin 3D foam tape, added a black mat to it before adhering it all to a striped patterned paper. The sentiment I heat embossed on a thin black banner and added a blue Hello above it. When I add a die cut sentiment, I love to make it sturdy by layering 3 on top of each other. If I want to make it stand out, I use a 4th layer under it slightly offset from another colour, so it looks like shadow. Here I used simple white.

It was time for the finishing touches: black glaze pen on the eyes, buttons, noses and the pipe, glossy accents on the carrot and hat. I also added glossy accents to the Hello sentiment. A little White Blizzard Nuvo Glitter Drops on the trees added even more chill to this cute winter scene.

I hope you enjoyed my card inspiration and you got in the mood for some snow fun. I wish with the temperature drop we may have some snow too, I want to build a snowman!

See you soon,

Zsofi

Winter greetings – Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

Happy New Year! After a bit of a creative break I am back with 2 winter cards which are easy to adapt to any chilly occasions. I used stamps and dies from Newton’s Nook Designs, let me show you how.

First I stamped and coloured the Frosty Folks two times with Spectrum Noir Triblend markers: True Blue Blend, True Blue Shades, Blue Turquoise Blend and Blue Turquoise Shades, Brown Grey Blend and Brown Grey Shades and Orange Blend. I wanted groups of three so I fussy cut the snowmen I wanted. I love how I achieved 2 different images out of the same stamp set this way.

Then I die cut the postage stamp die from Frameworks from kraft cardstock and heat embossed the Snowfall Roundabout stamp on them. I used WOW Sparkly Snow embossing powder for a subtle shimmery look.

The sentiments I white heat embossed on colourful banners which I die cut wit the Banner Trio dies. The sentiments are from the Snowman Roundabout stamp set.

I popped up the snowmen and banners with 3D foam squares and used a clear shimmer pen to make their outfit festive. I emphasized the buttons and their eyes with a black glaze pen.

I wish you enjoyed my cards for today and will return soon for more inspiration.

See you,

Zsofi
