Rainy day – Lawn Fawn new release

Hello Everyone,

I have a cute Spring card for you today to help distraction from the world news. I was playing with the new release from Lawn Fawn, and this card is totally inspired by the dull days we have currently.

First I stamped and coloured the images from the new Beary Rainy Day stamp set using Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: GB4, CT4, CT3, CT2, TB5, TB3, TB2, IB3, IB1, EB6, EB4, EB3, EB2, EB1, AG2, CG3, CG2, CG1, CG05. Then I used the coordinating dies to cut everything out.

To set the scene I did some quick ink blending on Bristol Smooth cardstock with Distress Oxide inks and blender brushes: Blueprint Sketch. Salty Ocean and Tumbled Glass. I spritzed it with water and added some diluted ink splatters. I love the textured look, even if I am going to die cut this piece.

When it was totally dry I ran it through my die cut machine with the Rainy Backdrop Portrait die. I backed up the backgrund with blue glitter cardstock, it looks gorgeous on its own!

I did some ink blending on a scrap piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock with Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn, added the ink splatters and made sure it was dry before I cut it with the Grassy Hillside border die. I assembled the scene using 3D foam squares to pop up the bears.

For the sentiment I used the new Henry’s ABC to spell Rainy and cut it out from a yellow patterned paper from the Perfectly Plaid Spring paper pad. To make it sturdier I added a yellow layer under each letter ad adhered it to the card. The rest of the sentiment I heat embossed from the Beary Rainy Day stamp set on thin black cardstock strips.

As a finishing touch I used a clear shimmer pen on the raincoats and umbrella and added glossy accents to the boots.

I will link this project up to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Anything goes.

I hope you liked my card inspiration today and will pop in again soon.

See you,

Zsofi

White florals – Lawn Fawn New Release #1

Hello Everyone,

When something worries me and makes me sad, I need rainbows. Somehow cheerful colours mean hope. Hope for peace and tranquility. If only wars would end! My heart is heavy, but crafting helps to distract my attention. And having the new release of Lawn Fawn in my carftroom was the best excuse to craft. I hope this cheerful card will bring a smile to your face too!

First I created an inkblended background on Bristol Smooth cardstock using Distress Oxide inks in rainbow colours: Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmelade, Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon and Blueprint Sketch. These are my favourites for rainbow backgrounds. I made sure that I wasn’t heavy handed with the inks, I needed just a light layer as I wanted to stencil over it. I grabbed the new Skinny stripes stencil from the latest Lawn Fawn release, adhered it temporarily with Pixie Spray and went back with the same colours just heavier. For the green I used Mowed Lawn as I find Twisted Citron a bit too light for tone on tone patterns.

After removing the stencil I sprayed it with water, added some bigger water drops and also White Distress Paint and black acrylic paint splatters. I love how it turned out!

Then I die cut the new Spring Flowers Backdrop twice from white cardstock and once from black. I layered them on top of each other using liquid glue. The black layer I adhered tiny offset so it looks like a shadow. I also die cut a white Stitched Rectangle Frame from white cardstock and mounted it all on the rainbow background.

For the sentiment I decided to try the new Henry’s ABC – I was so excited about the playful fonts. I cut out “happy” from black cardstock and stamped “birthday” uder it from the Simply Messages stamp set.

I also added 3 little bees from the new Berry Special stamp set, I coloured them with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: GB4, CT4, AB1. I cut them out with the coordinating die and popped them up around the sentiment with 3D foam squares.

As embellishment I used some Gold Sparkle Crystals from Studio Katia. I also emphasized the stripes on the bees with a black glaze pen and added clear shimmer to the wings.

I hope you like my happy card and it cheered you up even in such difficult circumstances. I will bring some more cards with the new Lawn Fawn release soon, so stay tuned.

See you,

Zsofi

Lucky stars – Heffy Doodle

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to another edition of my Perfect Combos series for Heffy Doodle, this time a little thank you note. I used a couple of stamps, dies and stencils to create this cutie, let me guide you through the process.

First I stamped and coloured the images from the Hootiful stamp set using my Copic markers. Then I die cut them all with their coordinating dies.

To set the night scene I die cut a Stitched Oval from Bristol Smooth cardstock and blended in Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide inks. I added some water droplets for a bit of texture. Then I used the Constellation prize stencil with Gina K Designs White Glitz Glitter Gel to create a starry sky. I set it aside to dry.

I wanted some tone-on-tone background for my scene, so I die cut the Quilted heart background from white cardstock and adhered it to a white A2 sized notecard. Meanwhile the glitter gel got dry so I could white heat emboss a sentiment from the Hootiful set on the bottom of the oval.

I adhered the branches and then popped up the owls with 3D foam squares. I die cut a small stitched heart from white glitter cardstock using the Sun, Moon and stars die set and placed it in-between the wings of one of the owls, like he is giving it to the other one. So cute!

I wish you enjoyed my card today and share with us in our Facebook group if I inspired you. Follow me on Instagram if you like my cards, your support means so much to me! Thank you!

Welcome to Hogwarts – Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

All week the NND Design Team will be sharing inspiration using some of their favorite products from our retiring list! Check out what I created today and don’t forget to check the NND Blog each day this week for more fun inspiration!

My daughter turned 11 a few weeks ago and she is totally fond of Harry Potter. The challenge was given, I had to make her an invitation card to Hogwarts for her birthday. The owl with the letter from the Love Owl-ways stamp set was just perfect for this! So I stamped and coloured it with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: EB7, EB5, EB4, EB3, EB2, EB1, TN1, TN05, OR1, OR05, DR3, BG2, BG05. I cut it out with the coordinating die.

Then I made an inkblended background using Blueprint Sketch and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide inks. I added some water droplets and diluted ink spatters and let the panel dry. I used a die from Frameworks to cut it out.

While I was die cutting I also cut the sentiment “welcome to Hogwarts” from white cardstock using the Essential Alphabet die set. Then I assembed the card, popped up the owl with 3D foam squares and it was time for the finishing touches: a drop of glossy accents on the beak and heart.

I wish you liked my card today and will pop in again soon. Don’t forget to visit the Retiring Products Category to see what is going away and grab your favorites before they are gone for good!

Happy birthday Jana!

Hello Everyone,

This is a very special post, dedicated to my sweet daughter who turned 11 years old a few days ago. I am honoured and blessed to be the mother of such a lovely, smart and cute girl, watching her grow each day, being witness of her delicate but strong-willed personality as she spreads her wings. She is my sunshine for sure. As we got her some kids’ jewelry for her big day, I made not only a card but also 2 little boxes which hold her gifts. All products used are from Lawn Fawn. Let me show you each, one by one.

CARD

For my card I stamped and coloured a bunch of images from Scootin’ By and Elphie Selfie. I used Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: BO4, BO3, BO2, FS4, FS7, MB4, MB2, MB1, MB05, BG4, BG2, BG05, CG2, CG1, CG05, TB4, TB3, TB1, EB5, EB3. I cut everything out with their coordinating dies.

While I was die cutting I cut all the elements for my scene: grass with the Grassy Hillside Border dies and the sun and frame with the Stitched Sun Frame and Outside In Stitched Sun dies. I used coloured cardstock and did some ink blending on all pieces with Fossilized Amber and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide inks. I also added some diluted ink splatters and used Avery Elle Clear Shimmer Spritz on the frame of the sun for a subtle sparkle.

For the background I chose patterned paper from the Watercolour wishes paper pad, the setiment I stamped on the middle of the sun from the Magic Messages stamp set.

I was totally in a rush to finish this project so I forgot to add my usual finishing touches like glossy accents on the candles, ribbon and balloons, black glaze pen on the noses and eyes. I would have added some clear shimmer to the party hats too.

CLOUD WINDOW BOX

I had a necklace and ear clips which needed a bit bigger box, so I created on with the Fancy Box die set from Moonstone cardstock. The window I cut with the Outside In Stitched Though Bubble die set – of course on the wrong side so the whole box opens upside down. My daughter still loves it 🙂

The window is backed with clear acetate, and embellished with a sun and heat embossed sentiment from the Oh Gnome stamp set.

MINI BOX

To hold the sun earrings and little ring I made a Tiny Gift Box from Moonstone cardstock. I stamped a sentiment from the Oh Gnome set and embellished the top with a sun, which I cut with the Outside In Stitched Sun die set. I used Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide ink to add some shading to it and popped it up with 3D foam squares.

I hope you enjoyed my project and will visit me again soon. I also share my projects on Instagram, if you need a gallery to look at as inspiration. It would make me super happy if you follow me there too.

Valentine skunks – Lawn Fawn

Hello Everyone,

It is Valentine’s Day and I am back with a cute love card made with the latest release from Lawn Fawn. It is definitely ready to steal your hearts 🙂

First I coloured the skunks rom the Lawn Fawn Scent with Love and Scent with Love Add-on stamp sets using Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: CG4, CG2, CG1, YG3, MG5, PP5, PP4, PP2, BG10, BG8, BG6, BG2, BG1, BG05. I used the coordinating dies to cut everything out.

For the background I used patterned paper from the Watercolour Wishes Rainbow paper pad and die cut it with the Quilted Heart Backdrop Landscape die. I backed it with white glitter cardstock.

The sentiment is cut with the Giant Be My Valentine die from Raspberry cardstock 3 times and stacked them on top of each other.

When I adhered the sentiment, I embellished it with roses. I popped up the 2 skunks holding gifts above it using 3D foam squares.

As a finishing touch I used a clear shimmer pen on the heart shaped box and the paper holding the bouquet of roses. I added glossy accents to the ribbons ad emphasized the noses and eyes of the skunks with a black glaze pen.

I wish you enjoyed today’s inspiration and will pop in again soon.

See you,

Fawned of you – Heffy Doodle

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to another Valentine edition of my Perfect Combos series for Heffy Doodle, a cute forest scene. For me expressing love is a regular thing, I love to create little notes to my loved ones, This little woodland scene can easily be altered to fit any occasion. Let me guide you through the process.

First I stamped and coloured the images from the Deer to me stamp set and used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I used my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers, only brown shades this time: deers and mushrooms: TN9, EB6, EB5, EB3, EB2, EB1, TN2, TN1 trunk: EB7, MB4, MB3, MB1, MB05.

While I was die cutting, I cut all the elements I needed for the background scene: I used the Tree-mendous Peekaboo Tree die set to cut the trunk from craft cardstock and the canopy from Wintergreen cardstock. I added stitching details to the trunk with the Woodgrain Texture die. I used the Grassy Lass Border dies to cut grass from Kiwi Crush cardstock. I used Distress Oxide inks to add some shading to them and also some diluted ink splatters for a textured look. It is an easy way to add depth to the die cuts.

On a white card base I added a little Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink with a blending brush, just gently and spritzed it with water. I used a paper towel to dab it off after 20 seconds. That is the easiest way to get a pretty sky. I assembled the scene: I cut the treetrunk in half and adhered it to the card base, covered the bottom with the grass and the top with the canopy. Then I stamped a sentiment in between the trees from the Deer to me set.

I popped up the deers, trunk and mushrooms with 3D foam squares and added a die cut I love you sentiment to the canopy: the shadow I cut from kraft cardstock and the words from Cornflower cardstock 3 times and stuck them on top of each other.

I used little pink hearts as embellishments which I cut with the Whole Lotta Hearts set. As a finishing touch I added white gel pen dots to the deers and used a black glaze pen on their hooves and noses. I also added glossy accents to the mushrooms and hearts.

I wish you enjoyed my card today and share with us in our Facebook group if I inspired you. Follow me on Instagram if you like my cards, your support means so much to me! Thank you!

Orchid wishes – Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

I am back today with 2 floral cards using the same stamp set: Orchids from Newton’s Nook Designs. I am not successful with keeping plants alive unfortunately (only the strongest survive), but my mother has orchids in her kitchen window and they look so beautiful. This view was the inspiration for today’s clean and simple designs.

First I stamped and coloured the orchids with Spectrum Noir Triblend markers. Blue orchid: True Blue Shades, True Blue Blend, Jade Green Shades, Citrus Blend, Orange Blend and Aqua Blue Blend.

Purple Orchid: Purple Blend, Orange Blend, Jade Green Shades and Citrus Blend. I used the coordinating die to cut them out.

I wanted some subtle background for both so I used the new Petite Hearts stencil directly on the cardbases. Milled Lavender Distress Oxide for the purple orchid and Hickory Smoke for the blue one. I wasn’t very precise with inkblending, I just wanted some delicate pattern in the background. On the purple one I added some splatters after removing the stencil with my Fintec Pearlescent watercolours. It adds some texture which I love.

I used some oval dies from My Favourite Things to biuld up the focal panels. I wanted the two cards to be slightly different. For the blue one I created some scalloped frames, layered 3 on top of each other for dimension. I adhered it to a vellum panel which I cut with a die from Frames and flags. To adhere the vellum to the cardbase I used drops of liquid glue hidden behind the oval frame.

The sentiment I stamped on a light yellow banner (Frames and Flags), popped it up with 3D foam squares and added some crystals as embellishment.

For the purple card I die cut 3 nestig ovals: green, lavender and white, and layered them on top of each other. I popped up the orchid with 3D foam squares, stamped a sentiment from the Heartfelt Blooms stamp set on a skinny banner die cut with a die from A7 Frames and Banners. I used the same crystals to embellish the focal panel.

As a finishing touch I added a drop of glossy accent on the orange part of the orchids and used a white gel pen on the purple one to add some dot details to the petals.

I hope you enjoyed my card inspiration today and will pop in again soon for more.

Newton’s Nook Designs Sweet Treats Blog Hop

Hello Everyone,

I am so excited to be part of the 8th Annual Sweet Treats Blog Hop organised by Newton’s Nook Designs! Our Design Team brings you a lot of sweet inspiration, just in time for Valentine’s Day. Make sure you scroll down to the bottom of this post to see the whole list and hop along and comment for a chance to win!

My project was heavily inspired by my kids: I wanted to create something which is easy to hide in their lunch boxes to make their day sweet. For all little treats I used the Love Bots stamp and die set from the latest release.

I coloured them with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers, restricting the colours to cool greys with a little pink: CG9, CG7, CG5, CG3, CG1, MG5, MG3, MG1.

For the Goodie bag I used Lawn Fawn Goodie Bag die and pink cardstock. I put some salty sticks and lollypop in those, but you can use it for any little treat.

For the little envelope I used the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Envelope die set and light grey cardstock. I embellished it with a stitched heart from the NND Heart Frames die set. I used one of the robots with a matching sentiment on the insert, I can still right my personalized message on the back.

The little treatbox is made from pink cardstock with the Reverse Confetti Goodie Box die. I used a stitched circle from NND Frames Squares on it to hold my little robo-cat. It is closing with a stitched heart on the top and has the perfect size to hide some bonbons inside. Yummy.

The bigger treat box is also created with a Lawn Fawn die called Fancy box. I put some candy in it, but it would also look lovely with some nuts or small chocolate inside.

I used pink hearts from the Love Bots stamp set as embellishments wherever I could. I also emphasized some details on the coloured images with a black glaze pen and glossy accents.

Warm hugs – Simon Says Stamp

Hello Everyone,

I have recently purchased a gorgeous 3D embossing folder from Simon Says Stamp and I could not wait to try it. It is called the SSS Snowflake Visions and has the most beautiful snowlfakes on it. I have just rediscovered the world of embossing folders and wanted to try another technique with the snowflakes, let me show you.

I took a piece of SSS Lavender Purple cardstock and ran it through my die cutting machine with the embossing folder. It is gorgeous on its own, but if you follow me, you know already how much I love inkblending. So I gently applied some Villanious Potion Distress Oxide inks on the edges, fading it out towards the middle with the help of some Milled Lavender Distress Oxide ink. The fun about this technique is that the raised pattern will get more ink and it makes the pattern stand out more. I love it!

Of course I needed some splatters: water sprinkles and some white acrylic paint. I also added Avery Elle Clear Shimmer Mist for a subtle sparkle. I cut it down to be slightly smaller than an A2 sized card.

Then I stamped and coloured the cute skunks from the Lawn Fawn Scent with Love set, using my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: BG10, BG8, BG7, BG5, BG2, BG05, FS4, FS7. I used the coordinating die to cut them out.

For the sentiment I used the SSS Warm Hugs die, cut it 3 times from white cardstock and layered them on top of each other. I adhered them on the bottom of the embossed background and used Icicle Stickles on the lower halves of the letters. It looks fabulous, matching the chill of the snowflakes.

After popping up the skunks above the sentiment with 3D foam squares, I used a white gel pen to add highlights and a black glaze pen on their noses.

I will upload this project to the Simon Says Stamp Monday (Embossing folder) and Wednesday Challenges (Anything goes), and also to the SSS IG Challenge.

I hope you like my card inspiration today and will pop in again soon for more! If you like my cards, please follow me on Instagram too, where I share my happy creations. It is much easier to keep in touch and communicate there, so if you have any questions, please feel free to ask me.

Have a nice day,

Zsofi
