When something worries me and makes me sad, I need rainbows. Somehow cheerful colours mean hope. Hope for peace and tranquility. If only wars would end! My heart is heavy, but crafting helps to distract my attention. And having the new release of Lawn Fawn in my carftroom was the best excuse to craft. I hope this cheerful card will bring a smile to your face too!
First I created an inkblended background on Bristol Smooth cardstock using Distress Oxide inks in rainbow colours: Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmelade, Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon and Blueprint Sketch. These are my favourites for rainbow backgrounds. I made sure that I wasn’t heavy handed with the inks, I needed just a light layer as I wanted to stencil over it. I grabbed the new Skinny stripes stencil from the latest Lawn Fawn release, adhered it temporarily with Pixie Spray and went back with the same colours just heavier. For the green I used Mowed Lawn as I find Twisted Citron a bit too light for tone on tone patterns.
After removing the stencil I sprayed it with water, added some bigger water drops and also White Distress Paint and black acrylic paint splatters. I love how it turned out!
Then I die cut the new Spring Flowers Backdrop twice from white cardstock and once from black. I layered them on top of each other using liquid glue. The black layer I adhered tiny offset so it looks like a shadow. I also die cut a white Stitched Rectangle Frame from white cardstock and mounted it all on the rainbow background.
For the sentiment I decided to try the new Henry’s ABC – I was so excited about the playful fonts. I cut out “happy” from black cardstock and stamped “birthday” uder it from the Simply Messages stamp set.
I also added 3 little bees from the new Berry Special stamp set, I coloured them with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: GB4, CT4, AB1. I cut them out with the coordinating die and popped them up around the sentiment with 3D foam squares.
As embellishment I used some Gold Sparkle Crystals from Studio Katia. I also emphasized the stripes on the bees with a black glaze pen and added clear shimmer to the wings.
I hope you like my happy card and it cheered you up even in such difficult circumstances. I will bring some more cards with the new Lawn Fawn release soon, so stay tuned.
