Have a surf day! – Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

I am on my well deserved holidays with my kids but I wanted to pop in with this fun card to wish you all a “surf” day. I used stamps/dies and stencils from the latest release of Newton’s Nook Designs.

First I stamped and coloured the car from the Beach Bound stamp set with Illustrator markers. I used scissors to cut it out and used a black Memento marker to run around the edges to correct imperfections.

Then I took a piece of white cardstock and stenciled 2 palm trees on it using the Palm Tree Line stencil set. It was very easy to stencil only two trees using a small blending brush. I used Distress Oxide inks but any inks can work. When it was done I used a die from the Circle Frames die set to cut it out and matted it with a slightly bigger green circle which I cut with a die set from Pink ad Main.

I stamped a sentiment from the Beach Bound set on the bottom of the scene, popped up the card with 3D foam squares ad embellished the trees with brown jewels which look like coconut.

For the background I used a pretty paper from the Summertime paper pad, added a green mat to it before adhering it to a kraft card base. I love the layered look. I used a little clear shimmer on the surf board and glossy accents on some parts of the card to make it fancy.

I wish you like my card and will pop in again soon for more. I will share a lot of summer cards after I am back from my holidays.

See you soon,

Zsofi

Aloha – Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

I am going on holiday in a few days and even though it is “just” our favorite hotel in Hungary, not a tropical beach, I am totally in vacation mood already which affects my cardmaking too. This little note is for all of you, who read me regularly, thank you so much for being part of my crafty journey. The stamps, dies and stencil I used on this card are all from Newton’s Nook Designs.

First I created the background using the Retro Sun & Palms stencil and Distress Oxide inks: Candied Apple, Spiced Marmalade, Saltwater Taffy. Then I used the second layer of the stencil with Gina K Glitz Glitter gel in black. I set it aside to dry until I worked on the rest of the card.

I stamped and coloured the kitty from Aloha Newton using Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: TN8, T7, TN5, EB3, EB2, GB3, GB1, FS7, MG3, MG1, MG05, LY2. I cut it out with its coordinating die.

While I was die cutting I cut a piece of kraft cardstock with a Land border die and used a Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Dabber on the top of it. I poured Hero Arts Sand embossing powder on it and heated it with my heat gun. I added some more drops of the powder and melted it again until I was satisfied with the sandy look.

I also die cut the Aloha sentiment from sparkle cardstock and once from black to create a shadow. I assembled the card and stamped the rest of the sentiment under the die cut word from the Tropical Fringe stamp set.

As a finishing touch I used glossy accent on the guitar and a black glaze pen on the nose of the cat.

I wish you liked my card and will pop in again soon for more inspiration.

See you,

Zsofi

Bunny Love – Heffy Doodle

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to another edition of my Perfect Combos series for Heffy Doodle. The school year is officially finished, my kids did excellent and I am so proud of them! I created a funny little card to remind them how much I love them. They are my little bunnies. I mixed and matched stamps and dies to create this clean and simple card, let me guide you through the process.

First I stamped and coloured the images from the Veggie patch and Honey Bunny Boo stamp sets using Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: BO4, BO3, BO1, GY2, JG7, JG5, LG4, LG2, BG7, BG4, BG2, BG05. I cut them all out with their coordinating dies.

Then I die cut an Imperial Stitched rectangle from white cardstock, matted it with a slightly bigger piece of Pumpkin Patch cardstock. For the background I used the Woodgrain Background Texture die on Wintergreen cardstock, I love the stitching details!

Then I stamped the word “bunny” from the Honey Bunny Boo set with a matching orange ink and another one from the Veggie Patch stamp set with a matching green ink in two rows. It looks so cool in colour, like a block sentiment.

I popped up the images with 3D foam squares, placed the mini bunny in front of the huge smiling carrot and used a white gel pen to add highlights. I also used my black glaze pen on the eyes to make them shiny.

I wish you liked this clean ad simple card design and it made you smile. Share with us your creations in our Facebook group and check my Instagram for some extra tips on colouring. Thank you so much for your support!

See you soon,

Heffy Doodle and Pawsome Stamps Collaboration Blog Hop

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to the Heffy Doodle (HD) and Pawsome Stamps (PS) Collaboration Blog Hop! Our Design Team members are sharing inspiration using products from both companies! I brought you a sea-themed card for the occasion to show you how well different stamp sets work together.

First I stamped the images from the PS Birthday Fishes and the HD Oceans of Love and HD A Little Shellfish stamp sets. I used Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers to colour them: DR5, DR3, DR05, BG8, BG6, BG3, BG05, RB2, RB1, FS9, FS7, CR5, CR2, CR05, AG5, AG3, AG1, DP3, DP2, DP1, IG2. I cut everything out with their coordinating dies.

For the background I did some light ink blending on Bristol Smooth cardstock with Scattered Straw, Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide inks. Then I took the HD Tiny Waves stencil and added some waves with the same colours, just randomly, for a little texture. I also added some sunrays with the Rays the roof stencil an white pigment ink. It looks so cool! I used a heat gun to dry it before die cutting the panel with a Whimsically Wonky Imperial Rectangle die.

The sentiment is from the HD Oceans of love set, I white heat embossed the word “oceans” on black cardstock and cut it out with its coordinating die. I love sentiments which can be cut out, they make a card so unique! The rest of the sentiment I stamped with Versafine Onyx black ink.

Before assembling the card I used some brown markers and added dots to the sand. All the scenebuilding elements I adhered flat with liquid glue, only the whale I popped up with 3D foam squares.

As a finishing touch I used a black glaze pen on the eyes, added some white gel pen highlights and used glossy accents on the starfish. I also used some PS Ocean Breeze sequins and added tiny dots with glossy accents to the water to look like air bubbles. And I couldn’t resist and covered the whale and ray fish with Spectrum Noir Clear Shimmer pen for a subtle sparkle.

Happy Father’s Day – Lawn Fawn

Hello Everyone,

It is Father’s Day today and even though my husband is away for work still, I created a cute card for him which he will get as soon as he comes home in July. I used Lawn Fawn stamps and dies to create this summer themed daddy card.

First I created the background with the Simple stripes portrait backdrop die and coloured cardstock. I used kraft and 2 blues and I had enough striped to create 3 card bases.

Then I stamped the little boats from the Smooth sailing set using Jelllyfish premium ink, which is alcohol marker friendly. Then I used Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers to colour them: EB4, RB2, RB1, RB05, TB5, TB3, BT2, BT1, BG3, BG1, BG05. As the ink is light, it totally works for no-line colouring. I cut the boats with their coordinating dies.

I die cut a Stitched rectangle frame from heavy weight white cardstock and cut a piece of vellum as background for the boats. I used black Staz-on ink to stamp the sentiment and also the birds. I used the Smooth Sailing and Dad+ me stamp sets. I adhered the boats and popped up the frame with 3D foam squares. The distance mutes the striped background even further but gives the feel of water still.

It was very hard not to use any embellishments, but it is for my man, so I skipped it. Although I was really tempted to put some clear shimmer on the sheets.

I will upload this card to the Lawnfawnatics Challenge #126 and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Add a sentiment.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card and will pop in again soon. I will share some extra tips on my Instagram, so it is worth to follow me there too.

See you,

Zsofi

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Day 4

Hello Everyone,

It is always bittersweet when we reach the last day of release week at Newton’s Nook Designs! The June release is full of adorable and very summery sets, I hope you enjoyed what you have seen so far. Newton lovers, this is your day: our favourite kitty is going to fly a kite! The Newton’s kite stamp set comes with coordinating dies too, as always.

All products will be available on 17/06/2022!

For my card I stamped and coloured the image using Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. The colours I used are: EB5, EB3, RB2, RB1, RB05, GB4, CT4, CT2, JG6, JG4, JG2, FS7. I cut it out with the coordinating die.

I die cut a rounded stitched rectangle from Bristol Smooth cardstock using the Frames and Flags die set. I masked off the edges with Purple tape and did a light ink blending for the sky with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink. I also added grass with the Hills and Grass stencil and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide ink.

I needed a sun and clouds for my scene so I grabbed the Sky scene builder die set and die cut the elements from coloured cardstock and thick vellum. For the background I chose a pretty patterned paper from the Summertime paper pad and cut it with a Frameworks die.

After assembling the card I popped up the kitty with 3D foam squares and stamped the sentiment under the clouds.

As a finishing touch I used a clear shimmer pen for the sun and kite and added some highlights with a white gel pen.

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Day 3

Hello Everyone,

We are halfway through the summer release week at Newton’s Nook Designs! No worries, we have more cuteness for you! Today we are showcasing the super fun Dog Park stamp/die set.

All products will be available on 17/06/2022!

For my card I stamped and coloured the dog and accessories from the set using Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: BG10, BG8, BG6, BG4, BG2, BG1, BG05, FS7, GB4, CT4, CT1, BT7, BT5, BT2. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

To set the scene I die cut a scalloped rectangle using the Frameworks die set, masked off the edges with Purple tape and used the Sunscape stencil with Mustard Seed Distress Oxide ink to create the background. I stamped the sentiment on the sun using black ink.

Then I die cut a little piece of grey cardstock with the Land border die, added some shading with Black Sooth Distress Oxide ink and some diluted ink splatters for a textured look. When it was dry, I stamped another sentiment on the right side of the pavement.

I assembled the scene, gave it a yellow mat and mounted it on a cheerful patterned paper from the new Summertime paper pad. I used 3D foam squares to attach the dog and the frisbee.

As a finishing touch I used little golden stars to make the sunrays shine and glossy accents on the dog’s accessories. I also emphasized the eyes and nose with a black glaze pen.

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Day 2

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to Day 2 of the June Release reveals of Newton’s Nook Designs. We have a great new Oval set to feature: Flamingo Oval. It coordinates perfectly with the previously released Oval Frames die set.

All products will be available on 17/06/2022!

For my card I stamped and coloured the image with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: AG5, AG3, AG1, AG05, JG7, JG5, CG3, CG2, CG1, PP5, PP4, PP2, GB4, CT4, CT2, CT1, CT05, BG10, BG8. I used scissors to cut the image out and used a black Memento marker on the edges to cover up any imperfections.

I also die cut a scalloped oval with the Oval Frames die set from pink cardstock ad a green thought bubble with the Speech Bubbles die set. I stamped the sentiment on this one and popped it up with 3D foam squares in the middle of the oval.

Then I worked on the background: on a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock I did some ink blending with Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron Distress Oxide inks. I added a lot of diluted paint and ink splatters and let it dry completely.

I wanted to try something new, so I used the Tropical Leaves stencil over the background with Thermoweb Transfer Gel. I set it aside to dry (I left it for a day) and used Green Flock sheets with my Minc machine to add a fantastic velvety feel to the stenciled leaves. It is jaw-dropping in real life, so nice to touch!

I popped up the focal panel on it using 3D foam squares, used glossy accents on the beaks and embellished the flowers with tiny gold pearls in the center.

Harry Potter pop-up – Lawn Fawn

Hello Everyone,

My brother turned 40yrs old a few days ago and as he is a board game fan, we got him the Hogwarts Battle – The Monster Box of Monsters. I also made a matching card and I am so proud of the packaging of the game itself, that I wanna share it with you too.

I started with going through my Lawn Fawn stash and looked for images which can fit the Hogwarts theme. I chose: Critters ever after, Bicycle built for you, Costume Party, Science of love. I stamped the images and coloured them with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. The list of colours I used: BG8, BG6, BG4, BG2, BG1, BG05, GB4, CT4, CT2, BO4, BO3, BO1, BO05, AG4, AG2, AG1, AG05, EB8, EB7, EB6, EB5, EB3, RB2, RB1, FS8, FS7, FS6, FS4, DR3, DR05. I cut everything out with their coordinating dies.

I altered the book a little to look like the Monster Box of Monsters. I used a black Memento marker to add details, drew teeth with a white gel pen and added tiny googly eyes. It turned out super cute!

Then I created a Platform pop-up using a pretty Galaxy paper from The Rabbit Hole Design.

I added the images and also die cut 40 (Oliver’s Stitched 123s) from silver sparkle cardstock and adhered it on little acetate strips so it floats in the air. So cool!

I also dressed up the board game to look like the Monster Box of Monsters: I wrapped it in a furry brown scarf and used an old belt to old it together. I cut teeth from typing paper and inserted it under the scarf. For the eyes I die cut two circles from white cardstock and placed 2 large back buttons on them. Funny, isn’t it?

I wish you like it as much as my brother did! Thanks for visiting and hope you pop in again soon! Next week is going to be post-heavy 😉

See you,

Zsofi
