Sea themed card set – Pretty Pink Posh

Hello Everyone,

It is the last day of July and it is time for a goodbye. I have enjoyed so much to be a Guest Designer for Pretty Pink Posh, their designs are adorable and so easy to mix ad match, which is my favourite way of creating. I promise you that I will bring more and more cute scene cards in the future as you love them the most too. For my last post I saved a personal favourite, a sea themed card set. Perfect as home decor too as these are little mixed media arts.

As always I started with stamping and colouring the images from Sea Friends. That is one of my most loved stamp sets. I used Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers:

  • sea horse: BP7, PV4, PV3, PV2, PV1, PV05,
  • dolphin: BT7, BT5, BT2, BT05,
  • fish: JG5, JG4, JG2, AB3, AB1, AB05,
  • other fish: BO4, BO3, BO2, BO1, GY2, CT3, CT1,
  • octopus and coral: PP6, PP4, PP2, PP1
  • crab: DR4, DR2, DR05,
  • shells: GY5, GY2, GY1, GY05, EB4
  • starfish: MG5, MG3, MG1, MG05
  • seaweeds: AG5, LG4, LG2

I added dots to each fish for texture, I love this technique. Then I cut everything out with the coordinating dies.

For the background I used Distress Oxide inks on Bristol Smooth cardstock: Scattered Straw for the sand, Blueprint Sketch, Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean for the water. I was generous with the splatters: first a spritz of water, which I dabbed off with a dry paper towel after 30 seconds. Then I added diluted ink splatters too. While I was working on the sea, I covered the sand and the other way around. In this way I did not end up with brown splatters in the water.

When the backgrounds were dry, I heat embossed the sentiments from the Everyday Greetings stamp set.

Then I took the Waves stencil and added Gina K Glitz Glitter gel to certain parts, just randomly. I didn’t mind that the paste sipped a bit under the stencil, it just added to the messy ocean look.

I assembled the cards and it was time for the finishing touches: glossy accents on the shells and fins, and black glaze pen on the eyes.

I hope you liked my cards, and will continue to follow my crafty journey.

See you soon,

Zsofi

Happy Anniversary – Pretty Pink Posh

Hello Everyone,

July is almost over and I still have cards to share which I made as a Guest Designer for Pretty Pink Posh. Today I show you a whimsical and super cute tropical anniversary card.

First I stamped and coloured the cats and fish from the Cuddly cats stamp set, lemonade from the Summer friends set and the palm trees from Tropical Birds. I used Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: EB7, EB5, EB3, EB2, AG5, AG3, AG1, AG05, BG9, BG7, BG5, BG3, BG1, BG05, GB4, CT4, CT1, OR3, OR1, OR05, FS7, FS4, TB2. I cut them all out with their coordinating dies.

Then I used the Scallop Frames (exclusively available at the PPP store) with white heavy weight cardstock, cut it 3 times and layered them on top of each other. I used the Sea borders die from Newton’s Nook Designs to cut the waves from turquoise glitter cardstock and the Land border die to cut the sand dunes from kraft cardstock which I have previously covered with Stick It adhesive.

I wanted to try using real sand for the dunes, so I removed the backing paper ad poured very fine sand over the whole kraft panel. It looks so cool in real life! I added a few darker dots with some brown – looks so realistic!

I assembled the scene on a piece of Watercolour Wishes patterned paper from Lawn Fawn and heat embossed two sentiments on very thin black cardstock from the Simple sentiments set.

As a finishing touch I used a black glaze pen on the eyes and glossy accents on the noses and ice cubes.

I wish you like my card inspiration today and will come back tomorrow for my last Guest Designer post. I promise you, I saved the best for last!

See you,

Zsofi

Birthday crocs – Heffy Doodle

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to another edition of my Perfect Combos series for Heffy Doodle. This time I mixed and matched my favourite crocs with birthday accessories to create a very cheerful birthday card. So whimsical that it can really make anyone smile, don’t you think?

I started with stamping the images from Happy Snappy Crocs and Party Palooza, and coloured them with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: JG7, JG5, LG4, LG2, GB5, GB2, GB1, CT4, CT2, CT1, IB3, IB2, IB1, EB8, EB5, EB3, BG5, BG2, BG1. Then I cut everything out with the coordinating dies.

For the background I used the Brick by brick stencil with Ranger Texture paste, which I have previously mixed with a bit of Black Sooth Distress Oxide ink. I used heavy weight white cardstock so it could handle all that paste without curling up too much. When the panel was dry, I did some light ink blending with Black Sooth Distress Oxide ink on the sides. I also blended a bit of black ink on a thin strip of white cardstock to serve as pavement.

I assembled the card adding all the accessories to the happy crocs. I used 3D foam squares to pop them up and heat embossed a sentiment on black cardstock from the Party Palooza set. I used the coordinating die to cut them out, it looks so cool when die cut!

I adhered it to the scene and added a few tiny star sequins to enhance the festivities. I also drew the balloon strings with a black marker.

As a finishing touch I used a white gel pen, a clear sparkle pen and glossy accents.

I hope you enjoyed my card today and will pop in again soon for more inspiration!

See you,

Zsofi

Just saying hello – Pretty Pink Posh

Hello Everyone,

I am back today with another cute and very summery card which I made with Pretty Pink Posh stamps, dies and stencils. Even if it looks complicated, it is a very simple design, let me show you the steps how I made it.

I started with stamping and colouring the images from the Crafty Critters and Hibiscus flowers stamp sets. I used Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: BG8, BG6, BG4, BG2, BG1, FS7, FS4, AG5, AG3, AG1, CG3, CG2, CG05, GY3, CT3, MG5, MG3, MG1, MG05. Then I cut everything out with the coordinating dies.

On a white card base I used the Tropical Background stencil with Saltwater Taffy Distress Oxide ink and a blending brush. For me these brushes are perfect for subtle ink blending and it is so easy to fade out the colour towards the edge of the cardstock.

Then I adhered the flowers and leaves as a base for my little koala to stand on. The big leaves I adhered to the paws and used 3D foam squares to pop up that cute critter on the bed of hibiscus.

For the sentiment I chose a die cut one: I cut the “friend” from the Hello Friend Script die set from black cardstock three times. I stacked them together to get a chipboard-like dimensional word. The rest of the sentiment I stamped above it from the Simple sentiments stamp set – it is my absolute favourite, it has so many sentiments for all occasions.

As a finishing touch I added some white gel pen highlights and used a black glaze pen on the nose and eyes of the koala. I also scattered a few Sparkling clear jewels around, just because 🙂

I hope you liked my card inspiration today and it made you smile. Please pop in soon again for more cute cards! This week I have a lot to share!

See you,

Zsofi

Aloha – Pretty Pink Posh

Hello Everyone,

I am back today with another summer card I made as Guest Designer for Pretty Pink Posh. When we were at the Balaton with my kids and the weather was a bit colder and not suitable for them to swim in the lake, my boy loved to spend time with playing in the sand. He rather builds pyramids than castles but I love to sit next to him and work on tunnels or just decorate his buildings. This memory inspired my card.

First I stamped and coloured the images from Summer Friends. I used Spectrum Noir Triblend markers: Fair Skin Blend, Earth Brown Shades, Earth Brown Blend, Ice Blue Blend, Citrus Blend, Gold Brown Blend, Gold Brown Shades. I used some lighter markers from the Spectrum Noir Classique range: CT05 and IB05. I love that with these shades I can get lighter colours. I cut the images with the coordinating dies.

I love to make tags and place them on cards, and the Birthday Circles die set has such a lovely tag which I just simply had to use. I cut it from white cardstock and backed it with a light blue rectangle sandwiching the sand castle in between the layers. I popped up the boy with 3D foam squares and added black and white twine.

For the sentiment I chose the Aloha Shaker die, cut it from gold metallic cardstock and trimmed the words out. It is a way to get more out of your dies. Lovely, isn’t it?

I adhered it at an angle to make it more playful and embellished the tag with some jewels from Citrus Mix.

For the background I cut patterned paper from Craft Consortium Watercolours paper pad, backed it with dark grey cardstock and adhered it to an A2 sized top folding kraft card base. As a finishing touch I used glossy accents on the sunglasses and parts of the T-shirt.

I wish you enjoyed this little cutie and will return next week for more. I also share extra tips on Instagram, which you might want to check out as well.

See you soon,

Zsofi

Surfing cats – Pretty Pink Posh

Hello Everyone,

Being back from a short getaway still finds me in vacation mood which you can clearly feel on my cards. I enjoy the freedom of not waking up the kids for school every day and the weather being super hot to enjoy lake time (we do not have seashores in Hungary). My card for today is a happy celebration of summer, made with goodies from Pretty Pink Posh.

First I stamped and coloured the images from Cuddly cats and Summer surfboards using Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: BG9, BG7, BG5, BG3, BG1, BG05, GB4, CT4, CT1, OR3, OR1, OR05, DR4, DR3, DR1, DR05, FS7, FS6, FS4, LG5, LG3, LG1, TB4, TB2, TB1, AB3, AB2, AB1, AB05. I used the coordinating dies to cut them all out.

To set the scene I used my poorly abandoned Tombow Dual Tip markers. These are water based markers and I found them working perfectly on Bristol, Smooth cardstock. I just added scribbles and used a wet paintbrush to move the colours. For the sky I used 062 and 090, for the water 296, 373 and 451 and for the sand I used 942. I also went over the sea with a clear shimmer pen to add some sparkle. When it was all dry I used a white gel pen to add waves and a Marvy Snow marker to add seafoam. It is my favourite way to add texture to sea cards as it bubbles up if you heat it with a heat tool. So cool!

Then I die cut the word “summer” from the Happy Summer Script die set using glitter cardstock and stamped the rest of the sentiment around it from the Crafty Critters ad Simple Sentiment sets.

A drop of glossy accents on the noses and a black gel pen on the eyes finished off my cute summer card. I hope it will make my friend smile.

Thanks for stopping by and wish to see you soon!

Newton’s Nook Designs Birthday Release – Day 4

Hello Everyone,

We have an extra day of inspirations as part of the Newton’s Nook Designs Birthday Release week, to increase the festivities. Newton’s Nook Designs is turning 9 years old this month, such a lovely milestone. I have been designing for them for a couple of years now and I must admit, their designs are so unique, exciting and so fun! They surprise me each and every time a new release is coming.

All new products will be available on Friday, 15/07.

For today I chose to feature the Birthday Mice stamp and die set in more masculine colours. I started with stamping the mice with the cheese cake and the little present 2 times, and coloured them with Spectrum Noir Triblend markers: Brown Grey Shades, Brown Grey Blend, Gold Yellow Blend, Citrus Blend, Jade Green Shades, Jade Green Blend, Ice Blue Blend. For the mice I also used some lighter markers: BG1 and BG05. Then I cut everything out with their coordinating dies.

While I was die cutting I also cut a white tag with the Fancy Edges Tag die set and added a bit of Lucky Clover Distress Oxide ink to the bottom of it with a small blending brush. I also cut a decorating edge for the top from blue cardstock and a reinforcer from yellow. I assembled the scene on the tag ad added twine and some clear sequin confetti.

For the background I chose a blue balloon paper from the new Birthday Party paper pad and white heat embossed 2 of the sentiments from the stamp set on black cardstock. I used my trimmer to cut them down to thin strips which run across the card.

I popped up the tag with 3D foam squares and used my usual finishing touches: clear shimmer, black glaze and white gel pens. I also added glossy accents to the hat and candle.

Koalified to party – Heffy Doodle

Hello Everyone,

If you are looking for the Newton’s Nook Designs July Release post, click here.

Welcome to another edition of my Perfect Combos series for Heffy Doodle. This time I mixed and matched older and newer stamps, dies and stencils to create a very summery birthday card. With the yellow, grey, gold colour combination it is not just very festive, but can be gifted to guys too, yay!

I started with stenciling the background directly on a white top folding card base. I used the Circle Masquerade stencil with Scattered Straw Distress Oxide ink and then placed the Simply Radiant stencil over it and added SSS Citrine Glitz Glitter gel. It looks lovely, the reveal time when we remove the stencils is always so exciting!

Then I die cut the Leafy Laurel die from grey cardstock and from black cardstock and layered them on top of each other tiny offset for a shadow look. I embellished it with tiny yellow die cut flowers and added Studio Katia Gold Sparkle Crystals in the middle of each.

I stamped and coloured the cute koala and accessories from the Koality Hugs stamp set using Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: BG7, BG5, BG4, BG2, BG1, BG05, GB5, CT3, CT1, FS7, FS6. I used the coordinating die to cut them out. I love how the coordinating dies cut around the paws so I could tuck the present under them easily.

For the sentiment I die cut the word Happy from the Stitched Birthday Trio Frame die set from gold glitter and black cardstock, adhered them on top of each other like I did with the laurel. The rest of the sentiment I white heat embossed on black cardstock and cut it out with the Wavy Banner die – it coordinates perfectly!

After adhering everything in place and popping up the koala with thick 3D foam tape, I used a clear shimmer pen on the party hat and present and some glossy accents on the nose and ribbon as finishing touches.

I wish you enjoyed my card today and will pop in again soon for more inspiration!

See you,

Zsofi

Newton’s Nook Designs Birthday Release – Day 3

Hello Everyone,

We have reached the last day of the Newton’s Nook Designs Birthday Release reveals, but fear not, our favourite kitties and puppies are back on today’s super cute stamp set called Sky High. It comes with coordinating dies too.

All new products will be available on Friday, 15/07.

For my card today I chose the balloon image and coloured it with Spectrum Noir Triblend markers: Brown Grey Blend, Brown Grey Shades, True Blue Shades, True Blue Blend, Dark Red Blend, Pale Pink Shades, Pale Pink Blend, Gold Yellow Blend, Citrus Blend. For the clouds I used an IB05 marker to add some shading, and cut everything out with the coordinating dies.

I kept the background super simple this time, just quickly blended Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink on Bristol Smooth cardstock and spritzed it with water. I dabbed off the water after 30 seconds with a dry paper towel and repeated the process for a fun, textured look. When it was dry, I used my favourite die from Frameworks to cut the panel.

After assembling the scene, I stamped the sentiments from the Sky High and Dog Park stamp sets in black, directly on the sky.

As a finishing touch I used a clear shimmer pen, a black glaze pen and added some highlights with a white gel pen too. I love how the pink-red balloons pop off the blue background!

Newton’s Nook Designs Birthday Release – Day 2

Hello Everyone,

It is Day 2 of the Newton’s Nook Designs Birthday Release, and the Design Team is featuring the new Birthday Oval stamp set, which coordinates perfectly with the previously released Oval Frames die set.

All new products will be available on Friday, 15/07.

I hardly ever make shaker cards but I want to change that so I designed a fun birthday shaker card for today. First I stamped and coloured the Birthday Oval image with Spectrum noir Triblend markers in rainbow order: Dark Red Shades, Dark Red Blend, Orange Blend, Gold Yellow Blend, Citrus Blend, Dull Green Blend, Citrus Green Blend, Blue Turquoise Blend, Blue Turquoise Shades, True Blue Blend, True Blue Shades, Lavender Blend, Bright Pink Shades, Magenta Blend. I also used some lighter markers: CT05, CG05, BT1, BO05, DR05. I stamped the sentiment in the middle of the panel in black and cut the panel with a scalloped oval.

I used the Oval Frames die set to create a frame. I used Purple Tape from Thermoweb to hold 2 dies together, it helps me to even the space between the two. Then I used Distress Oxide inks for a rainbow ink blending trying to follow the colours I used for the image itself: Villainous Potion, Blueprint Sketch, Peacock Feathers, Mowed Lawn, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Candied Apple and Picked Raspberry.

I adhered a piece of acetate on the back and used 3D foam tape to ensure the height for the tiny star sequins and confetti to shake freely. I will share some shaker card tips on my Instagram.

For the background I used a fun patterned paper from the new Birthday Party paper pad, which I matted with a vivid blue cardstock to give it a frame.
