Flower bouquet with Heffy Doodle

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to another edition of my Perfect Combos series for Heffy Doodle.

This time I created a bouquet of flowers with an old-but-new-to-me stamp set called Blooming marvellous and some colourful inks. So much fun and so many possibilities! I used enamel dots and the Summer Holiday paper pad from the latest release. Let me guide you through the process!

First I stamped a bunch of flowers with Catherine Pooler inks to Neenah Solar white cardstock. I love these inks as they come in beautiful colours and the result is gorgeous every time. The ink smooths out on the cardstock like it was printed. I used the coordinating dies to cut every piece out. For small die cuts I love my Heffy Doodle mini die cut machine, so much easier and faster than with my regular sized one.

Then I created the wrapping from a 3.5 inches square piece of kraft cardstock by folding in the edges at half on 2 sides. I used the scoring blade of my Mini Heffy Doodle Trimmer to add the score line.

I added a bit of shading with some brown ink and a blending brush on the folded edges, this little trick gives a lot of depth to any plain shape. Then I glued it together and arranged my die cut flowers in it, until I got a nice bouquet. Some I adhered to the back of the kraft cardstock, some to the inside of the front to get a really dimensional bouquet. I embellished each with a matching enamel dot and added a tiny little twine to the bottom of it. I love how it turned out!

The rest of the card I kept simple: I used a polka dot patterned paper from the Summer Holiday paper pad with a Whimsically Wonky Imperial Rectangle for the background and stamped a sentiment on the bottom left corner from the Farmyard fun stamp set.

I adhered the bouquet at an angle and finished the card with a white die cut Hello, which I layered up on top of a black one slightly offset, so it looks like it has a shadow. Isn’t it perfect for any occasions?

I hope you enjoyed my card today and will pop in again soon for more inspiration!

See you,

Quick and Easy Halloween – Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

I am back today with a very simple card design showcasing the Spiderweb Oval stamp set which is part of the new release from Newton’s Nook Designs. I cannot wait to try this with all Halloween colours – it is very easy to mass produce if you need multiples, and perfect for beginners, even for kids crafts!

I started with stamping the oval in black on alcohol friendly white cardstock, and coloured it with Copic markers: V09, V17, V15, V12 and V01. I used the darkest on the edges and went lighter towards the middle where I stamped 2 sentiments.

I fussy cut the image and die cut a scalloped oval wit the Oval Frames die set from Purple Metallic cardstock, and once more from black cardstock. I used my scissors ad cut off the scalloped edge on this one so I got a black mat for my coloured image.

For the background I chose a spiderweb patterned paper from the new Halloween Meows paper pad and popped up the focal panel with 3D foam squares.

I added some purple twine to the top and used glossy accents on the word ‘Happy’. I also went over the spiders with a black glaze pen to make the shiny and truly black. So scary!

I wish you liked my card inspiration and will join me soon for more fun ideas!

See you,

Newton’s Nook Designs August Release – Day 4

Hello Everyone,

The bittersweet moment of the last day of reveal week at Newton’s Nook Designs has arrived, but we still have two adorable little sets to showcase: Harvest Haul and Newton’s Crate. Both come with coordinating dies.

All new products will be available on 19/08/2022.

CARD 1

For my first card I coloured Newton’s Crate and a bunch of leaves with Copic markers and cut them all out with the coordinating dies. I stamped the sentiment inside the crate, I love when it is part of an image! The colours I used:

  • pumpkins: YR68, Y38, Y35
  • crate: E49, E47, E44, E43, E42
  • kitty: N3, N0
  • leaves: YR68, Y38, Y35, E47, E44, E42, Y17, Y08, Y11, BG15, BG11

Then I die cut a pretty patterned paper from the Autumn paper pad using a die from Frames Squared, so it has a window. I used the same die to cut a square from aqua cardstock and arranged the scene. I popped up the crate with 3D foam squares and scattered the leaves all around.

I used 3D foam squares to pop up the patterned paper frame too, I love the dimension so much!

As a finishing touch I used glossy accents on the stems and added aqua twine to the top of the card.

CARD 2

As always I started with colouring the truck and leaves from Harvest Haul, which is my favourite part of cardmaking. I used Copic markers:

  • pumpkins: E19, YR27, YR24, YR23
  • apples and cloth: RV69, R39, R37, R35
  • truck: G28, G46, YG63, G21, W9, W7, W5, W3, W2, W1, W0, BG15, BG11, BG10
  • bucket, leaves and hay: E59, E57, E55, E53, E51

I die cut everything with the coordinating dies, and also cut a rounded stitched rectangle from cream cardstock with the Frames and Flags die set.

I heat embossed a sentiment with Gina K Designs Dark Chocolate embossing powder on the top of the panel, popped up the truck with 3D foam squares and scattered the leaves all around. I gave a dark red mat to the focal panel before adhering it to a plaid patterned paper from the Autumn paper pad.

As a finishing touch I used clear shimmer on the apples and cloth and also glossy accents on the bumpers, lights, mirror and the stems of the pumpkins.

Newton’s Nook Designs August Release – Day 3

Hello Everyone,

We are halfway through the August Release reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs and we are switching from Halloween to Fall themed goodies. Today is all about the lovely Autumn Oval stamp set which has fabulous sentiments for your Fall crafting. It coordinates with the previously released Oval Frames die set. There is a new Autumn paper pad too, with beautiful designs and colours.

All new products will be available on 19/08/2022.

For my card I started with stamping and colouring the main image with Copic markers:

  • pumpkin 1: E19, YR27, YR24, YR23, E49, E59, E57
  • pumpkin 2: W7, W5, W3, W0
  • pumpkin 3: G28, G46, YG63, G21
  • berries: R37
  • leaves 1: YG67, YG17, YG25
  • leaves 2: Y08, Y04, Y11
  • leaves 3: RV99, RV69, R39, R37
  • leaves 4: E59, E57, E55
  • background: BG15, BG11, BG10

I stamped a sentiment in the middle and cut the image with scissors. I ran a black marker on the cut edge to make the imperfections invisible. Then I cut a dark green cardstock piece with the scalloped die from the Oval Frames die set and also a pretty patterned paper from the Autumn paper pad with a die from Frames and flags.

I added some white organza ribbon to the background and used 3D foam tape to adhere the coloured image.

As a finishing touch I used glossy accents on the stems and the word ‘Happy’.

Newton’s Nook Designs August Release – Day 2

Hello Everyone,

It is Day 2 of the August Reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs and we continue the Halloween theme with the versatile Spiderweb Oval stamp set which coordinates perfectly with the previously released Oval Frames die set. We also have a super cute mini stamp, Halloween Pile which comes with coordinating dies.

All new products will be available from 19/08/2022.

For my card I stamped and coloured the main image from the Halloween Pile set using Copic markers: BG15, BG11, BG10, W9, W7, W5, W4, W2, W0, W00, YG67, YG17, YG25, YG01, YR09, YR07, YR04, R01, R00. I used the coordinating die to cut it out.

Then I heat embossed the Spiderweb Oval on black cardstock with black embossing powder. Then I used white pigment ink in the middle to make it a bit foggy and mysterious, and added Black Sooth Distress Oxide ink on the edges for deeper shadows. I cut it out with the Oval Frames die set.

I used black embossing powder to heat emboss the sentiment on an orange banner which I cut with the Frames and Flags die set.

For the background I used a fun patterned paper from the Halloween Meows paper pad, matted it with a vivid green cardstock and popped up the oval and the banner with thin 3D foam tape. I also used dimensional adhesive to pop up the coloured image in the middle of the spiderweb.

As a finishing touch I used a black glaze pen and glossy accents.

SPECIAL GUEST CARD

My 11 year-old daughter, Jana was crafting with me for this release and I think she made a wonderful job showcasing the Halloween pile set.

She used the Candy Corn Layering stencils on kraft cardstock with Distress Oxide inks: Carved Pumkin, Mustard Seed and White Pigment ink from Simon Says Stamp. The image she coloured with Copic markers and cut it out with the coordinating dies. She created a frame using the Frameworks die set, backed it with vellum to mute the background tiny. She stamped a sentiment under the focal panel with Versafine black ink and finished the card with twine.

Newton’s Nook Designs August Release – Day 1

Hello Everyone,

I am so excited that we are starting the August Release reveals today at Newton’s Nook Designs! It is a really big release, full of Halloween and Autumn goodies. Today we are showcasing the adorable Franken Newton stamp/die set, 2 new paper pads and a fun layering stencil. Perfect for hours of Halloween crafting and beyond.

All new products will be available from 19/08/2022.

CARD 1

For my first card I started with stamping and colouring the images from the Franken Newton Stamp set. This time I used Copic markers: W9, W7, W5, W4, W2, W00, V09, V17, V15, V12, V01, V000, G16, YG09, YG06, YG05, YG01, YG11, G20. I die cut everything with the coordinating dies.

Then I chose a pretty patterned paper from the Halloween Woofs paper pad and added a strip to a light violet A2 card base. I used the A7 Frame and Banners die set to cut a scalloped strip from black cardstock to cover the edge of the patterned paper.

The sentiments I stamped on some white Speech Bubbles (I used the partial die cutting technique to make them fit perfectly). I also stamped another sentiment on a green circle (Frames Squared die set) which I backed with a light green sun from the Sky scene builder set. It looks like a pledge this way, so cool!

When assembling the card I popped up the images and the pledge with 3D foam squares. As embellishment I scattered a few iridescent stars from Twiddler’s Nook, and used a clear shimmer pen on the dresses and glossy accents on the heart and nails.

CARD 2

I am in love with layering stencils and the new Jack o’ Lantern one is absolutely gorgeous. And versatile too, as you can use it without the scary faces and then you just end up with a pretty pumpkin patch. As I was in Halloween mood, I used all 3 layers: for the first I chose Carved Pumpkin, for the second Ground Espresso Distress Oxide inks. The faces I created with Gia K Designs black Glitz Glitter gel from Thermoweb. It looks super sparkly!

I let the paste dry for a day before die cutting the panel with the postage stamp edge die from Frameworks. I white heat embossed a sentiment from one of the new Halloween sets on a black banner and backed it with a slightly smaller orange one – both banners I die cut with the Frames and flags die set.

I matted the stenciled panel with and orange cardstock before adhering to a black card base. I popped up the banners with 3D foam squares and added a little twine around it. So simple but cute, right?

Sparkly rainbow – Heffy Doodle

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to another edition of my Perfect Combos series for Heffy Doodle. Have you seen the super sparkly, beautiful sequin mixes which have been released recently? Those gorgeous colours are so inspiring and the idea of a sparkly rainbow struck me. Let me show step by step how I made this cute card.

First I looked through my Heffy Doodle cardstock scraps and selected Cookie Monster, Hint Of Mint, Plum Pudding and Simply Tealicious. I played Cinderella and selected the matching colours of sequins from the Covesea, Unicorn Dream and Royal Mist mixes. It was so fun and didn’t take too long at all. When the preparation was done, I die cut the Starry Rainbow die from all the scraps and created my own rainbow. I used Heffy Tape to hold the pieces together, I even left the stars in the die cut and adhered a sequin on top of each one. It looks gorgeous in real life!

Then I die cut some clouds from white cardstock with the Big Stitched Clouds die and also the “rainbow” word from the Rainbow Builder die set from silver glitter cardstock.

For the background I chose a striped paper from the new Summer Holiday paper pad but I wanted to mute it with a piece of vellum to have a more cloudy feel. I used double-sided adhesive sheets to adhere the vellum, this way the adhesive doesn’t show through.

After adhering the rainbow, the sentiment and popping up the clouds with 3D foam squares, I stamped the rest of the sentiment from the Close at heart set with Staz-on Black ink.

I hope you enjoyed my card today and will pop in again soon for more inspiration!

See you,

Zsofi

Unicorn dreams – Hello Bluebird

Hello Everyone,

It has been ages since I could play along with any challenges, but the colours of the current Hello Bluebird ones were calling me. Here is what I came up with.

I started with the background tis time: I blended Picked Raspberry, Carved Pumpkin and Mustard Seed Distress Oxide inks on Bristol Smooth cardstock, spritzed it with water and dabbed it off with a paper towel. I repeated the spritzing and dabbing, and added also some black and white splatters. When it was all dry, I added some clear shimmer mist to the panel for a subtle sparkle too.

Then I stamped images from the Unicorn Tales and Sweet Dreams stamp sets and coloured them with Copic markers: RV06, RV04, RV02, RV10, RV000, N3, N0, YR04, Y38, Y35, Y17, Y06, Y02. I cut them out with their coordinating dies.

I chose a sentiment from the Unicorn Tales stamp set and stamped it directly on the sky using Versafine Onyx black ink.

Then I popped up all the images with 3D foam squares and embellished the scene with the coloured stars. As a finishing touch I used a black glaze pen on the eyes, a clear simmer pen on the stars and added the silver lining to the clouds with a Sakura Stardust pen.

I could not resist and used glossy accents on the stars and horns.

I will upload this project to the Hello Bluebird Colour Challenge and also to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Spritz and Splatter.

I wish you like my card and will pop in again tomorrow for another sparkly project.

See you,

Zsofi

Bunch of balloons – Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

I am back today with lots of balloons, we can never have too many, right? As much as I enjoy creating cute scenes, I need sometimes simpler designs too, which can be mass produced if there is a need. Stenciling is a perfect way for that and the new Bokeh Balloons layering stencil set from Newton’s Nook Designs is simply gorgeous!

For my card I used a light grey cardstock as a base and sprayed the stencils with Pixie spray to make them tacky and avoid shifting while I applied the ink. I used Distress Oxides because they are a perfect coverage on coloured cardstock too. For the first layer: Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Mowed Lawn and Blueprint Sketch. For the second layer I used Candied Apple, Mustard Seed, Villainous Potion and Peacock Feathers. I wanted a full set of rainbow balloons so I worked in quarters.

After removing the stencil I added a lot of splatters: smaller and bigger water droplets, white and black paint splatters. The more texture the merrier for me. When the panel was dry I cut it with the scalloped rectangle die from Frames and Flags and adhered it to a white A2 sized card base.

The three sentiments are from the Birthday Oval stamp set, I stamped them on a balloon shaped white cardstock which I cut with the Balloon Shaker die set.

The ribbon I cut from black and silver metallic cardstock and adhered them to the balloon.

After popping it up with 3D foam squares I used Lawn Fawn glitter glue on the edges of the balloon die cut, to make it more festive.

I hope you liked my card today and will pop in again soon for more inspiration.

See you,

Zsofi
