Alice in Wonderland

Hello Everyone,

Today I brought you a cartoon inspired motivational card. I am a big Disney fan and when I first saw the Wonderland stamp set from Pink and Main, I was literally jumping from joy. The characters are so cute and the quotes made me smile.

I started with stamping an colouring the images with Copic markers. I die cut them all with their coordinating dies.

Then I used a stitched rectangle die to cut a white, a pink and a blue violet piece. I also used it to cut down a green piece of cardstock which I cut again with a small scalloped border die to stand for grass for my scene.

Before attaching the grass and all the images, I sponged very lightly some light blue ink on the white rectangle. I also stamped the sentiment with blue violet ink. I popped up the images with 3D foam squares and added some flower sequins.

For the background I chose a pretty bow one from the Something Whimsy paper pad and covered an A2 sized card front with it and adhered all the rectangles turned at an angle before adhering the focal panel.

As a finishing touch I added some glossy accents to the glasses, clock, bottle and bows, just to make them even cuter.

I hope you liked my card today and will check back later for more inspiration with the April Release. Until next time, happy crafting!

Rain or shine – MFT Sketch Challenge

Hello Everyone,

I am super late with my entry for the MFT Sketch Challenge, but yesterday’s rain totally inspired me to make this cute card.

I staretd with stamping the girl with the big umbrella from the Birdie Brown Rain or shine stamp set on Copic friendly cardstock, and coloured her with Copic markers. I used my favourite colour combo for this spring: pink-yellow-aqua.

Then I used the Brick wall stencil on Bristol smooth cardstock and applied gently some Black Soot distress oxide ink. I die cut it with the Essential Cover Up Horizontal die and took the Mini Raindrops stencil and added Brutus Monroe glitter paste over it in teal colour. I love the layered stencil effect! When the panel was dry I added a dark teal mat to it and adhered it to a dark grey note card.

I arranged the girl, the puddle and some die cut clouds (I used the stamp set’s coordinating dies) and also heat embossed a sentiment on a bright pink cardstock strip. Apart from the sentiment – which I popped up with 3D foam squares – everything is adhered flat with liquid glue.

As a finishing touch I added clear shimmer to the umbrella and used a white gel pen to add highlights.

I will link this up to the MFT Sketch Challenge #431.

I hope you got inspired too by the capricious April weather and enjoyed my card tutorial. Please join me later today for the Newton’s Nook Design’s April Reveals Day 2 projects too.

See you,

Zsofi

Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Day 2

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to Day 2 of the March release reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs! If you love flowers, today is your day! We are featuring a new floral stamp called Floral Fringe. So unique!

And there is a matching stand-alone die set, which gets you even more possibilities with this unique design!

All the new products will be available on Friday, 15th March!

For my cards i stamped the flower block with Versafine Onyx black ink onto Bristol Smooth cardstock and used a clear detailed embossing powder (Lawn Fawn) to heat emboss it with my heat gun. I love the shiny black outlines. I also did the same with the sentiments in the middle.

Instead of colouring I decided to go with ink blending: I used several Distress inks to add colour. On the pink card I applied Abandoned Coral, Squeezed Lemonade and Twisted Citron, on the purple one I used Seedless Preserves, Milled Lavender and Evergreen Bough.

Meanwhile it was drying, I die cut the frames using 2 of the dies from the new Frames Squared die set. For each card i cut 2 frames: one white and one from coloured cardstock. I adhered them together and mounted them on top of the floral panel. The card base is a 4.25*4.25 inch square notecard this time.

Of course i needed some finishing touches too: a bit of clear shimmer and glossy accents on the middle of the flowers.

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #451

Hello Everyone,

I am here today as a Guest Designer for the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #451, sponsored by Newton’s Nook Designs. The theme is Back to school.

CIC451.jpg

I cannot believe that in a month time my daughter will start the 2nd grade at school. I know it is not going to be easy at the beginning to get used to studying again, therefore I made a couple of lunch box notes already which I can sneak in next to her sandwich in her box. I wish it will brighten her day and remind her how awesome she is.

CIC451_01IG

I started with stamping an colouring my favourite unicorns from the Newton’s Nook Design Believe in Unicorns stamp set. I used Copic markers, Tonic Aqua Shimmer pen and a bit of stickles on the horns for an even brighter sparkling effect.

CIC451_02

I cut the images with the coordinating dies.

CIC451_03

I also die cut some white frames with the Frameworks Die set and adhered a piece of vellum to the back of them. I glued the unicorns in place and stamped my sentiments with Staz-on black ink on the vellum.

CIC451_04

For the background I used Lawn Fawn Really rainbow patterned papers (my favourite from the pack) and cut it to cover a 4 bar card (3 1/2 x 4 7/8 inches).

CIC451_05

As a finishing touch I added a few Crystal Stars from Studio Katia.

Inky Paws Challenge

Hello Everyone,

It is Monday, the start of a new Inky Paws Challenge. Look at all these pretty colours! Aren’t they gorgeous?

IPC71_zsm01_blogIG

I wanted to use the Beautiful Plumage stamp set for a while now and I thought the colours match perfectly the peacock image. So I coloured one of them with Copic markers (nothing fancy just basic colouring) and used the coordinating die to cut it out.

IPC71_zsm01_blog04

I sponged some Tumbled Glass distress ink on a top folding, A2 sized white notecard and adhered a strip of gingham patterned paper in soft pastel. Then I die cut the You (MFT die set) once from white and once from glitter cardstock, layered them together. On a thin strip of purple cardstock I white heat embossed a sentiment (Lawn Fawn).

IPC71_zsm01_blog03

I assembled the card, popped up the peacock with 3D foam squares and embellished it with a white gel pen, a black glaze pen and some glossy accents. I also added some subtle shimmer with a Tonic Aqua Shimmer pen. I think it could be a perfect card for Mother’s Day too.

IPC71_zsm01_blog02

I hope I inspired you. The Inky Paws Challenge #71 is open until 11th May, so you have 2 weeks to link up your project and be eligible to win a 20USD gift certificate to the Neston’s Nook Designs online store. I hope you join us in this pretty colour challenge.

I will link my project up to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Anything goes.

World Card Making Day with MFT

Hello Everyone,

I am popping in with a fun card collection I made for the MFT World Card Making Day Challenges. They announced 4 challenge, and I made 3 cards for them. Let me show them one by one.

Challenge #1: ROYBGV

I had a stencilled panel using distress inks, not all rainbow colours fit on it, but most of them are there. I die cut it with a fun stitched die from a Blueprints set and die cut the word Smile 3 times from watercolour cardstock. I added the same distress inks on the letters and stacked the 3 layers together.

I heat embossed a sentiment from the All smiles stamp set on a thin black cardstock using white embossing powder. Then coloured a cute unicorn from the Birdie Brown set with Zig clean colour real brush markers. I fussy cut it this time and popped everything on the stencilled panel using 3D foam tape.

20171008_173459 wm

I added a royal purple mat and the usual accents to finish the card: Spectrum Noir shimmer pen, Black glaze pen and some glossy accents.

Challenge #2: Die-namics Design

I made a very simple in-laid card using the diagonal stitched rectangles dies.

20171008_173525 wm

I cut a frame from green cardstock and an inner piece from Neenah Solar White. In this one I die cut the sending hugs word die and replaced it with a silver metallic version when adhering it all to a white card base.

Then I embellished it with some stitched flowers and a silver glitter enamel dot in their middle.

Challenge #3: By the numbers

This was the most difficult to figure out, then I realised that I could make the Christmas card for my new-born niece early. (The pics are not good as I captured them at night, not in natural light).

20171008_215250 wm

I had a little cat already coloured with Copics, I just had to add a santa hat and a candy cane behind his back. I die cut the Merry Christmas sentiment from silver cardstock and the “1st” from velvet red. I used Stephanie Klauck’s technique to add this to my card front, made it so easy with the masking tape.

20171008_215304 wm

On the background I white heat embossed some pretty snowflakes and gently blended a little Tumbled glass distress ink to make them more visible. A velvet red mat before I added it to a white card base and it was all done. Just a bit of shimmer and shine to make it more special, of course.

Challenge 4: Make it and mail it.

Ok there is no separate card for this, as I plan to send all the 3 cards out. The first one to a relative of mine living in Switzerland (belated birthday wish as she had her birthday few weeks ago), the second to a friend from IG I have not hear of for a while and the third to my little niece – actually this will be hand delivered at Christmas I think.

Thank you MFT for such a fun event, I really enjoyed a crafty weekend. It has been a while since I could finish that many cards in 2 days. I loved that 🙂

See you tomorrow with some Newton’s Nook beauty 😉

Have a lovely evening,

Zsofi

World Cardmaking Day

Hello Everyone,

Today is a special day, World Cardmaking Day 🙂 What else shall I do than making a bunch of cards? Meanwhile I cooked lunch and made the laundry and played with the kids…multitasking as always. The best card I made although today was the one I made in silence and peace 😀 But this one I will show in a separate post.

Simon Says Stamp World Card Making Day 2017

So let me make this a different post: here are my cards, 3 with the same stamp and die set (all from SSS), coloured with Zig Clean colour real brush markers after heat embossing. I changed the colours and a little bit the design n the last one, but they are very similar.

And as Newton’s Nook Designs is having my heart, I had to make a card using my all time favourite NND sunflower image from the retiring Flower Garden stamp set. Simple design, coloured with Prismacolor pencils. The beauty of it is the added prills in the middle of the sunflower and that pretty golden strip on the side.
