Newton’s Nook Designs August Release – Day 3

Hello Everyone,

I cannot believe that we are half way through the August release reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs! After some coffee and some Fall images we are introducing cute mice playing outside enjoying autumn weather. Autumn mice is a playful and adorable set which comes with coordinating dies.

I started with colouring all the images in the set, I even coloured some extra leaves as I knew I would build some Fall scenes which needed plenty of leaves. When I had everything cut out I was already sure I will end up with more than just one card.

CARD #1

For my first scene I die cut the Lawn Fawn Leafy Tree Backdrop Landscape die 3 times from dark brown cardstock. I also cut some grass and hills with the land border dies from yellow and kraft cardstocks. To make the images pop I used the Lawn Fawn stitched clouds backdrop on aqua cardstock.

I assembled the scene on an A2 sized white card base and layered the tree frame.

The sentiment I stamped on a grey banner (Frames and flags die set) and tucked it under the last frame.

I added the images and adhered a couple of leaves on the tree and on the grass too. I added white gel pen highlights, emphasized the eyes and noses with a black glaze pen and added glossy accents on the scarf and stems of the pumpkins.

CARD #2

My next project is a 4 bar card, where I used a couple of patterned paper from Lawn Fawn as a background for my mini scene. I used the same scene building elements as on the A2 sized card just this time I made a 3 layered dimensional frame using the Framework die set.

I stamped another sentiment from the set with brown ink directly on the background and popped up the mini scene with 3D foam squares.

I covered the cap of the acorn with glossy accents and used a black glaze pen on the eyes and nose of the mouse.

TAG

And last but not least I created a little tag using the Fancy edges tag die set. I like to make my tags thicker by adding an extra piece on the back. In this way I ensure the pretty finished look also.

I used some sturdy twine and yet another gorgeous sentiment from the Autumn mice set.

Squeeze the day! – Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

Today I brought you a pair of cards, yummy and juicy, refreshing and motivational, made with the latest release from Newton’s Nook Designs.

I started with stamping the lemon slices from the Lemon Twist stamp set on Ranger Distress Watercolour cardstock with Distress Oxide inks. I used Twisted Citron, Spiced Marmalade and Squeezed Lemonade.

As it dries slowly I had time to pour clear embossing powder over it and heat emboss with a heat gun. I made a bunch of these, coloured them quickly with Tombow markers and used a water brush to move the colours. I love how fast it was and the result is so unique!

I used the coordinating dies to cut them out and also cut some leaves from green cardstock with the Flower Trio die set.

Then I worked on the backgrounds. I die cut the scalloped rectangles (Frameworks die set) from Ranger Distress Watercolour cardstock and used the wet-on-wet technique to create a juicy background.

I added some water with a brush, then squeezed some Distress Inks on my craft mat and dropped the colours on the wet area. I dried it with a heat tool and added another layer. I repeated the process with all 3 colours. It really looks like squeezed juice for me 🙂

I stamped the sentiment in black and gave the juicy backgrounds a colourful mat before adhering to a black and white striped patterned paper.

I arranged the leaves and popped up the citrus slices with 3D foam squares.

I finished the cards with some jewels from Lucy’s Little Things and Pretty Pink Posh.

I hope you like today’s inspiration, check back later for some more!

See you,

Zsofi

Have a Holly Jolly Holiday!

Hello Everyone,

It is my second post today as I was longing to play along the MFT Sketch Challenge #414. It has been a while and I missed using my MFT goodies.

I came up with a design I could multiply – I actually made 4 cards at once, 2 in English and 2 in Hungarian (not on the pics).

MFT_Santa&Friends_zsm01

I started with a stitched rectangle cut from light blue cardstock. I used the Snowfall Background stamp to heat emboss on it with WOW White Puff embossing powder.

MFT_Santa&Friends_zsm05

Then I stamped, coloured and die cut the images. I used Copics and kept it very simple. After die cutting I used an embossing ink pen to cover some parts of the suit and hat with embossing ink and used the same white puff embossing powder to add more texture. I love how it turned out!

MFT_Santa&Friends_zsm03

I also added a piece of blue gingham pattered paper to the bottom, and heat embossed the sentiments on a thin strip of dark grey cardstock with white embossing powder.

MFT_Santa&Friends_zsm04

I assembled the card using liquid glue and mounted it on a white top folding card base.

MFT_Santa&Friends_zsm02

I am so happy with this cheerful design, I hope I can make even more multiples of it before Christmas! I will link this up to the MFT Sketch Challenge.

Hope you like my card and will return tomorrow for some more cuties!

See you,

Zsofi

Halloween Card Series 2018 – Day 8

halloween_2018_FB

Hello Everyone,

If you follow me, than you know how much I am fond of cute stamp sets. Hello Bluebird is one of my recent favourites, I just need to collect all of them. For today’s card I used the cutest Halloween Party stamp and die set.

HalloweenCardSeries_HB_zsm01IG

I started with stamping and colouring all the images from the stamp set, I used Copic markers. Then I die cut them with the coordinating dies. I wanted to create a Halloween scene, so I looked at my Lawn Fawn scene dies and selected the Stitched Hillside Backdrop Landscape die as the base. I cut it out from Bristol Smooth cardstock 2 times.

HalloweenCardSeries_HB_zsm02IG

One of them I inked up with Black Soot distress ink and spritzed it with water then with black paint for some splatter details. The inner piece I inked up with Ripe Persimmon, Spiced Marmalade and Wild Honey distress inks. I also added water splatters to this and dabbed it off with a dry paper towel. I wanted to give it a subtle sparkle so I sprayed it with Tsukineko Shimmer Spritz.

HalloweenCardSeries_HB_zsm03

I die cut a black Stitched Rectangle frame too and assembled my first scene. Before adhering the critters, I stamped some sentiments in black from the same stamp set and also from Lawn Fawn’s Costume party. I love to add sentiments to the background so they become part of the scene.

HalloweenCardSeries_HB_zsm05

I added the critters, some with liquid glue and some with 3D foam squares. I added some white gel pen details to their cheeks, made their eyes pop with a black glaze pen and added glossy accents to the string of lights, pot and lamp.

HalloweenCardSeries_HB_zsm04

I loved how it turned out and knowing that I still had critters left, I created a second card too.

HalloweenCardSeries_HB_zsm07

This time the base die was  the Hello Bluebird Gallery Frame die #2. I cut it from black, grey and Bristol Smooth cardstocks. I layered the inner frame to get instant dimension and inked up the inner piece as before.

HalloweenCardSeries_HB_zsm09

The sentiment is from Newton’s Nook Designs Bootiful Night, stamped in black. I felt it matches the scene so well.

HalloweenCardSeries_HB_zsm11

I used the same embellishing trick as for the previous card. I think this one turned out so cute too. Tell me, which one do you like more?

HalloweenCardSeries_HB_zsm08

I will link this project to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge (Halloween/Spooky).

I hope you like my card and will pop in again for the last one tomorrow.

See you,

Zsofi

Hello Everyone,

NND_AUG18_FallStencils

There is a lot to show you today, so let’s just dive in.

CARD #1

Newtons_thanksgiving_zsm01IG

For my first set of cards I stamped and coloured the cute images from the Newton’s Thanksgiving set. I stamped some extras from the chicken legs and pumpkins to fill the scene I had in mind. I used Copic markers for colouring and the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Newtons_thanksgiving_zsm04

Then I cut a wide strip of patterned paper and a thin one to go on top of it from a coordinating coloured cardstock. I wanted to create the same design just different layout so I adhered these to a top folding and a side folding A2 sized kraft card base.

Newtons_thanksgiving_zsm05

For the top I cut a scalloped border from Peacock cardstock (Sky border die set) and on both cards I Stamped the sentiments using a light brown ink. I arranged the images and adhered them to the card either flat or popped up with 3D foam squares. As a finishing touch I added some Fall coloured sequins and a bit of glossy accents.

Newtons_thanksgiving_zsm06

CARD #2

newtons_cornucopia_zsm01IG

I started again with stamping the image from the Newton’s Cornucopia set on alcohol ink friendly cardstock, used Copics for colouring and the coordinating die to cut it out. I Gold heat embossed the sentiment from the set on a strip of kraft cardstock, and popped up the image above it using 3D foam squares. I added a gold mat to this panel and also a dark brown scalloped border (Sky border die set) as embellishment.

newtons_cornucopia_zsm04

For the side of the card I gold heat embossed the leaves from the set on a strip of Bristol Smooth cardstock and sponged several Distress ink colours on it to get the Fall feel.

newtons_cornucopia_zsm02

A few extra details with a white gel pen and a black glaze pen along with a drop of glossy accents finished this card off.

newtons_cornucopia_zsm03

CARD #3 and #4

Sept_stencils_zsm01IG

For these cards I used the gorgeous new stencils.

Sept_stencils_zsm03IG

For the first one I applied Walnut stain Distress ink through the Tree Ring stencil, then I removed the stencil and added Antique Linen Distress ink over the whole area.

Sept_stencils_zsm03b.jpg

I stamped a sentiment from a new sentiment set (will be revealed later this week) using dark brown ink and added glossy accents to the edges of the tree ring for a dimensional look.

Sept_stencils_zsm03a

Very clean and simple design, perfect for all the men in our lives!

Sept_stencils_zsm02IG

For the last card I applied Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide ink on a dark brown cardstock through the Pumpkin Patch stencil. I went back and added some green with a mini applicator to the leaves and vines and I covered the whole with Cosmic Glitter paste.

Sept_stencils_zsm02b

After removing the stencil I washed it immediately under running warm water. When the paste was dry on the cardstock I trimmed it down a bit and adhered it to a kraft card base. I stamped a sentiment on a stitched kraft banner (Frames and flags die set) and adhered it to a smaller dark brown banner before I mounted it on the pumpkin background.

Sept_stencils_zsm02c

I just love the shimmer and shine the glitter paste gives!

classy_teachers_zsm01IG

CARD #1

classy_teachers_zsm05

For my first card I made a stencilled background using the Echo Park Apple a day stencil with Distress inks. Before removing the stencil, I have sprayed it with Tsukineko Shimmer spritz for a subtle sparkle. I die cut this with a stitched rectangle die and stamped the sentiment on the bottom with black ink. I gave it a black mat also to make it pop even more.

classy_teachers_zsm08

To put the girl with the huge apple in the focus, I die cut a stitched oval frame from green cardstock and another 2 from white cardstock. I layered them on top of each other. I die cut an oval from light pink too for the background. I popped up the girl with 3D foam squares and added a die cut thanks (Lawn Fawn die) over it.

classy_teachers_zsm07

As a finishing touch I added Tonic Aqua Shimmer pen and glossy accents to the apple, and adhered the whole panel to a white A2 sized card base.

classy_teachers_zsm06

CARD #2

classy_teachers_zsm02

I started with making a tag from kraft cardstock and patterned papers using the Fancy Edge Tag die set. I stamped a sentiment on the side and popped up my coloured images with 3D foam squares. I added some twine and glossy accents to the books and apple.

classy_teachers_zsm03

I created a background for my tag using patterned paper and a stitched rectangle cut from peacock cardstock.

classy_teachers_zsm04

CARD #3

classy_teachers_zsm09

I used a bunch of Doodlebug patterned papers and an Inky Paws Challenge sketch to create this card.

classy_teachers_zsm12

For the background I used several stitched rectangle dies and arranged them according to the sketch. I white heat embossed a sentiment on the blackboard the girl is holding, and adhered it flat but at an angle to the card.

classy_teachers_zsm10

A tiny bit of glossy accents on the shoes and stripes of the dress along with some enamel dots finished off this colourful card.

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #451

Hello Everyone,

I am here today as a Guest Designer for the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #451, sponsored by Newton’s Nook Designs. The theme is Back to school.

CIC451.jpg

I cannot believe that in a month time my daughter will start the 2nd grade at school. I know it is not going to be easy at the beginning to get used to studying again, therefore I made a couple of lunch box notes already which I can sneak in next to her sandwich in her box. I wish it will brighten her day and remind her how awesome she is.

CIC451_01IG

I started with stamping an colouring my favourite unicorns from the Newton’s Nook Design Believe in Unicorns stamp set. I used Copic markers, Tonic Aqua Shimmer pen and a bit of stickles on the horns for an even brighter sparkling effect.

CIC451_02

I cut the images with the coordinating dies.

CIC451_03

I also die cut some white frames with the Frameworks Die set and adhered a piece of vellum to the back of them. I glued the unicorns in place and stamped my sentiments with Staz-on black ink on the vellum.

CIC451_04

For the background I used Lawn Fawn Really rainbow patterned papers (my favourite from the pack) and cut it to cover a 4 bar card (3 1/2 x 4 7/8 inches).

CIC451_05

As a finishing touch I added a few Crystal Stars from Studio Katia.

CIC451_06

I wish you like my mini lunch box notes and you got inspired to play along this fun challenge. All details about the challenge you may read here.

Flurry of thanks card set

Hello Everyone,

It is Monday and I am back with fresh inspiration for the Inky Paws Challenge #63.

Image may contain: text

I needed some thank you cards to send to my friends and I knew I wanted to play with alcohol inks for the pink challenge. I used pink shades of inks and a bit of gold and pearl mixative. This is the design I came up with.

20180104_140812 wm

I gold heat embossed the beautiful snowflakes from the NND Beautiful blizzards stamp set. I cut the embossed alcohol ink backgrounds with a stitched rectangle die and gave it a gold mat.

20180104_140821 wm

I used 2 different embossing powders and 2 different gold cardstocks to match the embossing.

20180104_140934 wm

Then I adhered the panels to the a stitched scalloped frame from Frames and tags.

20180104_140853 wm

The sentiment is a Simon Says Stamp die cut several times from white cardstock, golden cardstock and white glossy cardstock. I stacked them together and adhered to the card front.

20180104_140913 wm

20180104_141053 wm

I hope you like my set of cards and you got inspired to play along the Inky Paws Challenge #63. Hope to see your creations there. You have until Friday (19th Jan) to link up your project to be eligible to win the 20 USD gift certificate to the Newton’s Nook Designs online store.

Thanks for stopping by, see you soon with another fun project.

Have a lovely day,

Christmas card and tag set

Good morning,

As it is Monday, I will have a little break from Halloween cards now and show you something special I made for Jana’s pulmonologist. It was totally inspired by the current Inky Paws Challenge #58 , that sketch gave me the idea of putting a circle tag on a card.

Image may contain: text

I made a gift set, including 2 cards and 4 tags:

20171025_141959 wm

I started with stamping the pretty ornament from the Newton’s Nook Designs Beautiful Baubles stamp set along with a circle sentiment from Simon Says Stamp on Copic friendly cardstock. I die cut it with a circle die and put it aside. I made several of these (more than I show here as I want to try more colour combos later), my stamp positioner was a great help with this.

20171025_142322 wm

Then I looked for patterned paper. I am addicted to Doodlebug Designs paper pads and still have plenty sheets from last year too. I chose one in colder colours and one more pinky-red. I cut them down to fit the front of an A2 sized card. I also chose coordinating cardstock scraps and die cut a stitched strip.

20171025_142201 wm

Then I coloured the ornaments in coordinating colours. It is much easier for me to select the patterned paper first and the colour accordingly, I almost all the time do this. I added some Spectrum Noir shimmer and glossy accent on the top.

20171025_142222 wm

While it was drying I made some scalloped circle mats in coordinating colours, and backed them with a white one. I like to have my tags sturdy, the look more high quality this way. I poked a tiny hole on the top of the stand-alone tags and threaded through some silver string.

20171025_142327 wm

I adhered the cards together using 3D foam tape under the tags. I also die cut tiny bows (Pretty Pink Posh) from silver cardstock and glued them on the ornament with a drop of Ranger Multi Matte Medium.

20171025_142359 wm

A tiny little gemstone in the middle finished this cute set off.

20171025_142250 wm

I will link this project to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Anything goes.

Newton

I hope you like my project, and got inspired. Come and play along with us at the Inky Paws Challenge till Friday 3rd Nov for a chance to win a 20 USD gift certificate to the Newton’s Nook Designs online store.

Hope to see you there,

Have a lovely week,

Zsofi
