Newton’s Nook Designs April Release – Day 4

Hello Everyone,

We have reached the last day of the April release reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs. Today we are introducing Heartfelt Butterflies and Hearftelt Blooms. They both coordinate perfectly with the previously released Hearfelt Frames die set and the Banner Trio Die set. There is also going to be a separate sentiment set called Mom&Dad, which is a perfect accessory for the upcoming memorial days.

All new products will be available on Friday, 23rd April, 2021.

CARD 1

For my first card I stamped the Heartfelt Butterflies stamp on alcohol ink friendly cardstock and coloured them with Spectrum Noir Triblend alcohol markers.

This marker is very special as it has all 3 shades in one marker which makes it super easy for a smooth blend and shading. It was the first time for me to use these markers, but I fell in love with them: high quality nibs, beautiful colours and handy for on-the-go colouring too.

I went with the blue shades: True blue Shades, True Blue Blend, Blue Turquoise Blend, Green Turquoise Blend, Ice Blue Blend, Hydrangea Blend, Lavender Blend. (If you want to know more of these markers, check the Spectrum Noir website.)

When it was all pretty and colourful, I die cut it with the Heart Frames scalloped heart die. I also die cut a stitched heart from navy cardstock and a folded banner (Banner Trio die set) from black cardstock. I white heat embossed the sentiment on this and popped it up with 3D foam squares on the coloured piece.

I used a teal patterned paper for the background, added the stitched heart but before adhering the panel to a card base, I wrapped some ribbon around it. Then I popped up the scalloped heart piece with 3D foam squares. This card has a lot of dimension!

As a finishing touch I added clear shimmer to the wings and glossy accents to the bodies and the tiniest butterflies. I love how it makes the card even more special.

CARD 2

I started again with stamping and colouring the Heartfelt Blooms, just this time I used different blends of the same marker set: Alpine Green Blend, Magenta Blend, Orange Blend, Citrus Blend, Coral Blend, Bright Pink Shades, Aqua Blue Blend, Blue Turquoise Shades, Lavender Blend.

I die cut it with the Heart Frames scalloped heart die and popped it up on an A2 sized card front which I created from teal patterned paper.

I stamped a sentiment on a pink rounded banner (Banner Trio die set) with black ink from the Mom&Dad sentiment set.

As a finishing touch I used glossy accents on the flower centres and dotted details. I love these type of cards when I just want to enjoy colouring and keep the rest of the design simple.

Happy Mother’s Day – Heffy Doodle

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to another edition of my Perfect Combos series for Heffy Doodle. Mother’s Day is approaching both in Hungary and in the USA so I decided to grab the most adorable hedgies and pair them with a couple of Heffy Cuts and stamps to create a super cute card for mum. Let’s dive in the details!

I started with stamping and colouring the hugging hedgies from Quill you be mine with Copic markers. I used the Alcohol marker friendly white cardstock from Heffy Doodle, it allows the ink blend beautifully. I cut them out with the coordinating dies.

For the background I die cut the Quilted Heart Background die from white cardstock, cut it down to be a bit smaller with a Stitched Rectangle die and backed it with a slightly bigger kraft rectangle.

Then I took the Stitched Hearts die set and cut different sized hearts out of pink cardstock and patterned paper. I arranged them on the white stitched background and popped up the hugging hedgehogs.

I covered the front of an A2 sized card base with the same patterned paper I used for the die cut heart and adhered the focal panel. For the sentiment I chose the Special Day Sentiment Duos set and white heat embossed the Mother’s Day sentiment on a strip of textured brown cardstock. I adhered it under the hedgehogs and finished the card with using a black glaze pen on their noses.

I hope you enjoyed today’s Perfect Combo and will check back later for more inspiration. If you like my cards, please make sure to follow me on Instagram where I share my happy creations! Thank you!

Sorry I am prickly – Newton’s Nook Design

Hello Everyone,

I am back with another coffee card for the Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop, this time I used stamps and dies from Newton’s Nook Designs. The message of this card is so true about me 🙂

First I stamped the images from Monarch and Cuppa Cactus, and coloured them with Copic markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Then I die cut a pink stithced circle usung the Circle frames die set and backed it with a light yellow circle (Pink and Main die). I also die cut the postage stamp die from Frameworks from Doodlebug Floral-graph Rainbow Petite Prints patterned paper. I assembled the scene using a top folding A2 white note card.

I stamped the sentiment from Cuppa Cactus on an aqua small stithced circle (Circle Frames die set) and also cut the word Sorry two times using the Essential Alphabet dies: once from pink and once from black cardstock. I adhered the letters on top of each other in a way that it looks like it has a shadow, and adhered them on the card.

As a finishing touch I used clear shimmer on the wings and flowers and glossy accents on the body of the butterfly and the on the pattern of the cups.

I will link this up to the I will link this card up to the following challenges: Coffee Lovers Blog Hop and Simon Says Stamp IG Challenge (Hello Spring) and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Easter/Spring Moodboard.

I hope you enjoyed this funny card and will pop in again soon.

See you,

Love you a latte – Lawn Fawn

Hello Everyone,

The Coffee Lovers Blog Hop is in full swing and I managed to make a cutie over the weekend. This is my first entry, I used Lawn Fawn stamps and dies. Let me guide you through the process.

First I stamped the images from the following sets: Snow Day, Butterfly Kisses, and Holiday Helpers. I used Copic markers to colour them in and cut everything out with the coordinating dies.

To set the scene, I die cut a piece of patterned paper from the Watercolour Wishes paper pad using the Cloudy Backdrop die and I also cut a white Stitched Frame.

I covered an A2 sized card front with a rainbow patterned paper from the Hello Sunsine Remix paper pad and arranged the scene. I popped up the bunnies with 3D foam squares.

I stamped the sentiment from Love you a latte in between the bunnies and it was time for the finishing touches: black glaze pen on the eyes and noses, clear shimmer pen on the butterflies and mugs and finally a drop of glossy accents in the flower centres.

I will ink this up to the following challenges: Coffee Lovers Blog Hop, Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge and Simon Says Stamp IG Challenge (Hello Spring)

I hope you enjoyed this cute Spring coffee scene and will pop in again soon for more!

See you soon,

Zsofi

Hello Friend – Lawn Fawn

Hello Everyone,

I have a simple but very Springy card for you today, made for the Lawn Fawnatics Card Swap. As my recipient should have the card already, I thought I show you how I made it.

I stamped and coloured the images from the Some bunny sets using Copic markers and cut everything out with the coordinating dies. I stamped faces on some of the flowers, which I planned to put in the first raw.

To assemble the scene I needed a small Stitched Rectangle from white cardstock. I cut another one from Cilantro cardstock and used the Meadow border die to cut the grass out of it. I put the scene together using 3D foam squares under the bunnies.

While I was at die cutting, I cut the Hello die 3 times from Guava cardstock and adhered them on top of each other. I stamped a sentiment under the die cut and matted the little scene with Sunflower cardtsock. For the background I used a pretty patterned paper from the Spring Fling Petite Paper Pad.

I finished the card with clear shimmer and glossy accents on the flower centres. Simple but cute, isn’t it? It made me happy to put it together.

I hope you enjoyed today’s Lawn Fawn inspiration and will pop in tomorrow for another fun Spring card.

See you,

Zsofi

Beary happy birthday – Lawn Fawn

Hello Everyone,

I am popping in to show you the card I made for my father’s birthday which was last week. I used a bunch of stamps and dies from Lawn Fawn.

First I stamped the images from Den sweet den, Party animal and Dad+me sets and used my Copics to colour them in. I cut everything out with the coordinating dies.

For the background I chose patterned papers from the Sunshine Remix paper pad. I wanted a cheerful yet simple design. On the bottom I spelled Papa using the Oliver’s Stitched ABCs die set – I love to personalize the cards I am giving.

I also white heat embossed sentiments on black strips of paper from Birthday Before ‘n Afters and adhered them to the scene at an angle for a playful look.

I finished the card with a black glaze pen on the eyes and noses, a clear shimmer pen on the balloons and glossy accents on the hats and cake. These little details really add a lot to the images.

This is my entry for the Lawnfawnatics #96 Happy Birthday.

I hope you enjoyed this simple scene card and will come back soon for more inspiration.

See you,

Birthday Macarons – Heffy Doodle

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is BlogSeriesBanner_PerfectCombosWithZsofia_72-600x113.jpg

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to another edition of my Perfect Combos series for Heffy Doodle. I need to boost my birthday card stash so I got you another unisex idea for a sweet wishes card. I combined Sweet Stuff and Party Palooza with a few Heffy cuts dies. The colour inspiration came from the patterned paper – it is something I do often. Let me lead you through the process.

First I stamped the images with alcohol ink friendly black ink and used the Doodlebug Designs Kitten Smitten paper pad as my guide to choose the colours for the sweets: yellows, pinks, greens and aqua. I used three shades for each colour family and when I was done I added some dot details with my darkest marker and some highlights with a colourless blender. I also added some white gel pen dots too, it makes them so yummy! When they were dry I cut them out with the coordinating dies.

To hold my sweets I die cut a white tag and a teal reinforcer using the Tag Along die set. I arranged the macarons and cakes according to the photo and adhered them to the bottom of the tag.

I white heat embossed the Happy Birthday sentiment from Party Palooza on dark grey cardstock and used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I love die cut sentiments! I also white heat embossed another sentiment on a thin grey banner which I cut with a die from Tag Along.

I used the Stitched Rectangle die set to cut the largest from grey cardstock and the next in size from the patterned paper. I added twine to the tag and popped it up with 3D foam tape. I finished the card off with a bunch of mini clear seqiuns and added glossy accents to the macarons.

I hope you enjoyed today’s Perfect Combo and will check back later for more inspiration. If you like my cards, please make sure to follow me on Instagram where I share my happy creations! Thank you!

Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Day 3

Hello Everyone,

We are halfway through the revelas of the February Release at Newton’s Nook Designs, but dont worry, we still have plenty of adorable stamps and dies to showcase. Today we are adding another cute farm set to the Farm collection: Baa is full of adorable sheep and comes with coordinating dies.

All products will be available on Friday, 19/02.

As always I started with stamping and colouring the images from the stamp set using Copic markers. I went with Warm Greys and added dotted details at the end for a fluffy look. I cut them all out with their coordinating dies.

While I had my die cutting machine at hand I also cut some scene building elements using the Sky scene builder die set: a few clouds from white and the sun from pastel yellow cardstock scraps. I knew I wanted a slimline scene so I cut the grass (Land border dies) and the Fence longer which is super easy if you line the die up with the last cut edges. You don’t need separate slimline dies, with the partial die cutting technique you can easily make longer die cuts.

I assembled the scene on a 2.75 * 7.75 inches blue cardstock panel and adhered it to a white scalloped rectangle which I cut with the Slimline Frames and Portholes die set. I covered a slimline card base (3.5*8.5 inches) with patterned paper from Lawn Fawn and added the scene.

The sentiments I white heat embossed on some dark grey Speech Bubbles: I love to cut them down using the partial die cutting technique if the sentiment is shorter.

I finished the scene with a couple of clear mini sequins on the clouds and a few flower sequins with pearls in the middle on the grass. I also used a black glaze pen on the eyes of the sheep.

Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Day 2

Hello Everyone,

It is day 2 of Newton’s Nook Designs February Release reveals and today our team is showcasing the Hoppy Greetins stamp set and a tiny but oh-so-funny Hare mail stamp set. Both have matching dies, so you do not need to fussy cut!

All products will be available on Friday, 19/02.

CARD 1

I started with stamping and colouring the images from the Hoppy Greetings stamp set using my Copic markers and cut everything out with the coordinating dies. I made sure to have extra eggs and flowers to build a scene. I also heat embossed one of the sentiments on the sign the bunny is holding, I love the look so much!

To create the focal panel I die cut the stitched rounded rectangle from blue, green and white cardstocks using the die from Frames and Flags. Then I cut the grass from the green one with a Land Border die and the clouds from the white one with the Sky border dies. I assembled the scene and backed the panel with a slightly bigger yellow rectangle before adhering it to a pretty patterned paper (Doodlebig Designs)

I wanted an extra sentiment which I foud in the Spring Pile Up coordinating dies set: I cut the Happy Easter 3 times from pink cardstock and adhered them on top of each other. It gives a lovely dimensionl look, just like it was chipboard.

I finished the card with a bit of glossy accents on the eggs and the flower centers.

CARD 2

For my secon card I stamped and coloured the cute bunny in the envelope from Hare Mail 6 times and coloured them in rainbow colours. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

I had a slimline card idea in mind so I die cut the scalloped rectangle from Slimline Frames and Portholes from natural cardstock and the frame from Slimline Frames and Windows from white cardstock. On the inner squares I stamped the Hare mail stamp with a light brown ink 3 times and distressed the panels with blending in some Antique Linen Distress Oxide ink on each.

After assembling the card on a slimline 3,5*8,5 inches card base I added a die cut sentiment on the top: I used the Essential Alphabet dies to cut Sending from glitter cardstock and stamped Hare mail under it in black.

Strange but I did not use any embellishments on this card apart from a teeny tiny drop of glossy accents on the noses to make them shiny.

Sweet Treats Blog Hop – Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

I am thrilled to share the 7th Annual Sweet Treats Blog Hop with Newton’s Nook Designs! Every year before Valentine’s Day our Design Team creates a bunch of projects to show some extra love to the people we care for. If you want to see my projects for the last few years, I will link them here: 2020, 2019. Make sure you scroll down to the bottom of this post to see the whole list and hop along and comment for a chance to win!

My father-in-law loves tea and I truly miss spending time with him. We live in different countries and due to Covid I haven’t had the chance to see him for almost 2 years now. Crazily long time. I was thinking of him and our tea-time discussions when the idea of a Tea Treat hit me. It is a small package which has everything for an indulging moment of peace and pleasure: a small box of tea, a little jar of honey, some crackers to go with the tea, a card to hold the loving message and all wrapped up in a pretty mug. Let me show you how I made these. For all pieces I used the Echo park Coffee and Friends paper pad and a couple of stamps and dies from Newton’s Nook Designs.

TEA BOX

We have these big matchboxes here in Hungary and I just deassamled the cover of one and used it as a template to create my own: I traced it on white cardstock, creased according to the template and adhered it together. I adorned it with coloured cardstock and patterned paper. I stamped a few sentiments on the matchbox sides from the Heartfelt Love stamp set.

The cute kitty is from Newton’s Mug, coloured with Copics, die cut out and popped up on the top of the box. I stamped an extra sentiment on a stitched banner from Banner Trio and another one in a small stitched heart from Heart Frames.

This little box can holf 4 tea bags, so perfect for a family tea time even! Isn’t it cute?

CRACKER BAG

When I drink tea I prefer to have something salty with it, but you can easily add little biscuits too instead of the crackers. I simply put some little pretzels in a clear bag and created a topper for it: I die cut a stitched circle with Circle Frames from patterned paper and backed it with a slightly bigger dark green circle (I used a circle die from Pink and Main here, but many companies make nesting circle dies which match).

I added the same sentiment on a stitched banner and also the little heart with the Purr-tea line, I just love it!

CARD

Of course there is no treat bag without a handmade card to hold your message. I kept it simple here: the kitty from Newton’s Mug on a woodgrain circle backed with a slightly bigger green one. For the background I used the same patterned paper to match the other elements. I had the same 2 sentiments as before, it really makes it part of a package. So neat!

TAG

As the mug is also part of the gift I created a little tag too which resembles a tea bag itself: I used the Tag Times 2 die set to cut the base from dark green cardstock and added patterned paper in the middle. I die cut the circle tag from peach cardstock and adhered the stitched heart with the sentiment on it. I used a chunky green twine to hold these together.
