Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – Day 3

Hello Everyone,

We are halfway through the new release reveals of Newton’s Nook Designs, but we have some adorable puppies and kittens today. The new Heartfelt Woofs and Heartfelt Meows stamps coordinate perfectly with the previously release Heart Frames dies. The sentiments were designed to fit in the Banner Trio dies.

All new products will be available on 21/01/2022.

For my cards I wanted to do something a bit unusual from me. No colouring this time with markers, shocking, right? I just wanted to show you how easy it is to use these stamps even if you are not a colourist.

I started with stamping the images on coloured cardstock with clear embossing ink and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. In this way I got a tone on tone look, so pretty! I used the Heart Frame dies to cut them out and did a little inkblending on the edges of the pink heart. The teal one I left untouched so you can see the difference. I think a bit of ink on the edges gives depth, but both look so nice. On both cards I used patterned paper from the new Love & Meows paper pad.

For the cat card I matted the patterned paper with dark red cardstock and added a strip of white cardstock which I matted with teal. Then I used the frame die from the Slimline Frames and Windows to cut the two stitched strips from red cardstock. I could have used ribbon, but I am in love with faux stitching. Then I popped up the heart with 3D foam tape, and added a sentiment which I die cut with the new thin banner die in A7 Frames and Banners.

For the dog card I used the biggest heart to create my cardbase: I die cut two white hearts, scored one if them one quarter of an inch from the top and adhered the flap to the other heart. Tadaaa, my cardbase was ready. I used the same die to cut patterned paper and adhered the focal panel on it. This time I used the Banner Trio die set to cut the sentiment out, but added a thin red banner under it as embellishment.

Newton’s Nook Designs August Release – DAY 1

Hello Everyone,

I am thrilled to announce that we have a new release from Newton’s Nook Designs this month and it is full of Fall and Halloween cuties. So this week you are going to see my blog changing seasons (summer lovers don’t worry, I still have some summer cards planned before real Fall hits us). I love to make Autumn cards with its different colour combos. Today our Design Team showcases a fun new stamp/die set: Brooms and Boos and a fantastic new layering stencil which allows you to make your own Candy Corn backgrounds.

All new products will be available on Friday, 20th August.

CARD 1

For my first card I used my favourite witch from the new Brooms and Boos stamp set: I stamped the image and the moon on alcohol ink friendly cardstock and used my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers to colour her. The colours I used are the following: skin: FS8, FS7 hair: TN9, GB9, GB7, GB4 broom: GB7, GB4, GB2, MB3, MB1 dress: DP3, HB3, HB2, HB1 hat&shoes: IG10, IG6, IG2 moon: CT3, CT1, LY1. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

I imagined a simple night scene, so I die cut the postage edge die (Framework die set) from Bristol Smooth cardstock and masked off the edges and the bottom third of the panel with Purple Tape. I blended in Wilted Violet Distress ink and a bit of Black Sooth on the edges. I sprinkled it with water and diluted purple, white and black inks. I just love the texture, I cannot help it!

Then I added a very thin strip of silver cardstock on the bottom line and stamped the sentiment on the white part. I popped up the witch with 3D foam squares and adhered the moon too. I wanted some bats on the sky so I simply stamped them directly on the distressed background.

I decided to add another sentiment white heat embossed on a black circle (Circle Frames die set). I adhered the whole panel on a black top folding card base and used glossy accents as a finishing touch to emphasize some deails on the coloured image.

CARD 2

For my second card I played with the fun new Cady Corn layering stencil on a dark grey cardstock. For the first layer I used Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide ink, for the second Squeezed Lemonde and simple white pigment ink for the last layer. It gives such a subtle pattern as the colours are muted on a dark cardstock, totally cool!

When it was dry I cut the panel down with the scalloped rectangle die from Frames and Flags. While I was at die cutting I also cut a white tag, a topping and a reinforcer using the Fancy Edges die set. I love to use tags as my focal panel when I don’t want to overrule a fun background.

After assembling the tag I stamped, coloured and die cut another witch from the Brooms and Boos set using Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: pumpkin: GB9, BO4, BO3, BO1, CT3 witch: FS8, FS7, GB7, GB4, CT3, CT1, LY1 dress&accessories: IG10, IG6, AG4, AG2, AG1.

I popped up the witch with 3D foam squares and stamped two sentiments on an orange banner (Frames and Flags). I used some gold gems as embellisments and added some clear shimmer and glossy accents to the dress of the witch.

Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Day 3

Hello Everyone,

We are halfway through the revelas of the February Release at Newton’s Nook Designs, but dont worry, we still have plenty of adorable stamps and dies to showcase. Today we are adding another cute farm set to the Farm collection: Baa is full of adorable sheep and comes with coordinating dies.

All products will be available on Friday, 19/02.

As always I started with stamping and colouring the images from the stamp set using Copic markers. I went with Warm Greys and added dotted details at the end for a fluffy look. I cut them all out with their coordinating dies.

While I had my die cutting machine at hand I also cut some scene building elements using the Sky scene builder die set: a few clouds from white and the sun from pastel yellow cardstock scraps. I knew I wanted a slimline scene so I cut the grass (Land border dies) and the Fence longer which is super easy if you line the die up with the last cut edges. You don’t need separate slimline dies, with the partial die cutting technique you can easily make longer die cuts.

I assembled the scene on a 2.75 * 7.75 inches blue cardstock panel and adhered it to a white scalloped rectangle which I cut with the Slimline Frames and Portholes die set. I covered a slimline card base (3.5*8.5 inches) with patterned paper from Lawn Fawn and added the scene.

The sentiments I white heat embossed on some dark grey Speech Bubbles: I love to cut them down using the partial die cutting technique if the sentiment is shorter.

I finished the scene with a couple of clear mini sequins on the clouds and a few flower sequins with pearls in the middle on the grass. I also used a black glaze pen on the eyes of the sheep.

Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Day 2

Hello Everyone,

It is day 2 of Newton’s Nook Designs February Release reveals and today our team is showcasing the Hoppy Greetins stamp set and a tiny but oh-so-funny Hare mail stamp set. Both have matching dies, so you do not need to fussy cut!

All products will be available on Friday, 19/02.

CARD 1

I started with stamping and colouring the images from the Hoppy Greetings stamp set using my Copic markers and cut everything out with the coordinating dies. I made sure to have extra eggs and flowers to build a scene. I also heat embossed one of the sentiments on the sign the bunny is holding, I love the look so much!

To create the focal panel I die cut the stitched rounded rectangle from blue, green and white cardstocks using the die from Frames and Flags. Then I cut the grass from the green one with a Land Border die and the clouds from the white one with the Sky border dies. I assembled the scene and backed the panel with a slightly bigger yellow rectangle before adhering it to a pretty patterned paper (Doodlebig Designs)

I wanted an extra sentiment which I foud in the Spring Pile Up coordinating dies set: I cut the Happy Easter 3 times from pink cardstock and adhered them on top of each other. It gives a lovely dimensionl look, just like it was chipboard.

I finished the card with a bit of glossy accents on the eggs and the flower centers.

CARD 2

For my secon card I stamped and coloured the cute bunny in the envelope from Hare Mail 6 times and coloured them in rainbow colours. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

I had a slimline card idea in mind so I die cut the scalloped rectangle from Slimline Frames and Portholes from natural cardstock and the frame from Slimline Frames and Windows from white cardstock. On the inner squares I stamped the Hare mail stamp with a light brown ink 3 times and distressed the panels with blending in some Antique Linen Distress Oxide ink on each.

After assembling the card on a slimline 3,5*8,5 inches card base I added a die cut sentiment on the top: I used the Essential Alphabet dies to cut Sending from glitter cardstock and stamped Hare mail under it in black.

Strange but I did not use any embellishments on this card apart from a teeny tiny drop of glossy accents on the noses to make them shiny.

Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Day 1

Hello Everyone,

I am thrilled to announce that today is the first day of Newton’s Nook Designs February Release reveals! We have a lot of cute Spring themed stamps, dies and stencils for you, so stick with me for the whole week. Today our team is showcasing the Spring Roundabout stamp set which coordinated perfectly with the previously launched Circle Frames and Banner Trio dies. We also have a layering stencil set called Bunny Tails and a versatile classic Basketweave stencil too.

All products will be available on Friday, 19/02.

CARD 1

I love the circle cardfront stamps and I am so happy for the Spring Roundabout edition! I simply stamped it on alcohol frienly white cardstock and coloured the small images with Copic markers. It is totally relaxing! I used the scalloped circle from Circle Frames to cut it out and popped it up with 3D foam squares on a pretty patterned paper which I cut down to be slightly smaller than an A2 sized card front.

The sentiment I stamped in black on a rounded pink banner which I cut with a die from the Banner Trio die set. I backed it with a green banner slightly off, so it looks like a green shadow. It adds a bit of interest to this simple but cheerful card.

As a finishing touch I added glossy accents to some of the details and covered the clouds and Easter eggs with a clear shimmer pen. I added some pink twine to the top and my card is all finished!

CARD 2

When I first saw the Bunny Tails layering stencils I immediately imagined these bunnies in pastel rainbow colours. It is very easy with a bit of purple tape masking: I laid the Bunny stencil on Bristol Smooth cardstock and masked around the first bunny using the tape, then applied Distress Oxide ink with a blending brush. Then I moved on to the next bunny, masked around it and added the second colour. I use a different brush for each colour family so the colours do not blend and I dont have to clean them all the time. The colours used are: Squeezed Lemonade, Spun Sugar, Shaded Lilac, Tumbled Glass and Peeled Paint.

When it was all done I dried the ink with my heat tool so I can heat emboos the next layer. I used the Tail stencils with a small Versamark ink cube directly over it. After removing the stencil I poured Lawn Fawn Textured White embossing powder over it and heated it with my heat tool. I love the raised fluffy look I got!

I cut the panel down with the postage stamp die from Frameworks and white heat embossed 2 sentiments from the Spring Roundabout stamp set on blue stitched banners. I used the Banner Trio dies to cut the banners. I popped them up with 3D foam squares and mounted the whole panel on a kraft card base.

Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – DAY 4

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is nnd_jan21_releaseicon.jpg

Hello Everyone,

It is the final day of the Newton’s Nook Designs January Release reveals but we still have 2 super cute sets to show you: Love cafe and Newton’s Mug are both smaller sets and come with matching die sets.

All products will be available on Friday, 22/01/2021!

CARD 1

For my first card I have stamped the Love Cafe mugs with black hybrid ink so I could colour with my Copics. I also stamped the coffee beans with Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide ink several times and heat embossed thm with clear embossing powder. I just love the shiny look.

Then I die cut the postage stamp die from Frameworks from kraft cardstock and another one from pattered paper. I cut the latter down to be a strip on the bottom of my card and added a very thin strip of pink glitter paper on the top of it before popping up the images with 3D foam squares.

The sentiment I stamped with Lucky Clover Distress Oxide and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.

I used the steam hearts as embellishments and covered the decoration on the mugs with clear shimmer and glossy accents too. I also stamped another sentiment from the set directly on the patterned paper, I love the playful fonts so much!

CARD 2

On my second card I used paper piecing which I have not done in a while. I stamped Newton’s Mug on white Copic friendly cardstock and another time on patterned paper (Echo Park Coffee and Friends). I coloured the kitty with Copics and fussy cut the mug out from the patterend paper directly at the black outline. I adhered it on the white cup and added shading with a warm grey Copic marker. The result is stunning and it took less time than if I coloured it myself.

I used the Fancy Edges Tag die set and cut the base from cream cardstock and vellum. The topper I cut from light green and the reinforcer from brown cardstock. I also added a bit of kraft to the bottom to serve as a table and it also makes the vellum tag sturdier.

The sentiment I white heat embossed on a stitched brown circle from Circle Frames and I also die cut another patterned paper from the same paper pack with the scalloped rectangle from Frames and Flags.

I assembled the card on a kraft card base and used natural twine for the tag as embellishment. No shimmer this time but I added glossy accents to the nose of the kitty and to the coffee beans.

Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – DAY 2

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to Day 2 of Newton’s Nook Designs January Release reveals! We have the cutest kitties ever and some fantastic Slimline Masking stencils!

All products will be available on Friday, 22/01/2021!

For my card I stamped and coloured the kitties from Smitten Kitten with my Copics. I knew I wanted a colourful background so I kept them black and white. I added some furry details too for a bit different look. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

I chose Bristol Smooth cardstock for the background: I cut a piece which fits a slimline cardstock. I used the Masking Hearts stencil with Distress Oxide inks. The first layer is Mustard Seed, followed by Spiced Marmelade, Worn Lipstick and Candied Apple. I used the gridlines engraved in the stencil to line it up each time with the edge of the cardstock. It is so easy to get an even spacing! I cannot wait to try this technique with all other masking stencils and different colours!

When it was done I cut the panel down to be slimmer than a slimline card front and matted it with dark grey pearl cardstock before adhering it to a white card base. I popped up the kitties with 3D foam tape and stamped a sentiment directly on the background in black.

I finished it off with a bunch of clear gems and emphasized the eyes of the kitties with a black glaze pen. I also added a tiny drop of glossy accents on their noses.

Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – DAY 1

Hello Everyone,

I am thrilled to say that we are starting the Newton’s Nook Designs January Release reveals today! YAY! Get ready for a love-filled week! Today our wonderful team is showcasing the new Heartfelt Love and Heartfelt Roses stamp sets with a matching die set which totally coordinates with the previously revealed Banner Trio die set!

All products will be available on Friday, 22/01/2021!

CARD 1

For my first card I have stamped the Heartfelt Roses with a light hybrid ink so I could do no-line colouring with my Copics. I don’t do this often but it was such a lovely time spent!

When I was happy with how it looked I cut it out with the scalloped heart from Heart Frames, and used the biggest heart die from the set to create my own red card base: I die cut it twice, scored on of them half an inch form the top and glued that little flap to the back of the other heart. So easy and looks so special!

I white heat embossed a sentiment on a green stitched banner which I cut with the Banner Trio die set. I popped it up with 3D foam suares and adorned the card with a few clear gemstones.

CARD 2

For my second card I simply white heat embossed the image from Heartfelt Love on Bristol Smooth cardstock and applied Distress Oxide inks over it: Seedless Preserves, Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmelade. When it was dry I die cut it with the scalloped heart from Heart Frames. I used a clear shimmer pen to add a bit of extra bling to the little hearts.

On a fog cardfront I adhered a big dark grey stitched heart from the same die set and laid two pieces of organza ribbon over it before popping up the focal image. The ribbon I secured on the back of the fog card front with scotch tape and mounted it on a white card base.

I somehow felt that the plain grey background is a bit too simple, so I simply grabbed the XOXO sentiment and stamped it several times with an acrylic block and Fog ink. It gives a very subtle tone-on-tone look.

The sentiment I heat embossed in white on a purple banner from Banner Trio. I adorned it with two white pearls and it was all finished.

Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release – Day 3

Hello Everyone,

We are over the half of the Holiday Release reveals of Newton’s Nook Designs and I wish you are ready for the cutest little critters ever. Today our team showcases the adorable Christmas Puppies and A Kitten Christmas stamp/die sets. Perfect individually but also combined together!

All new products will be available on 23rd Oct, 2020!

CARD 1

For my first card I stamped the images from A Kitten Christmas on white cardstock and coloured them with Copic markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Then I die cut the Paw print shaker pieces from white cardstock and layered them on top of each other. I also cut some pine and a red bow using the Pines and Holly die set.

For the background I chose a pretty patterned paper from Doodlebug Designs and cut it down with the scalloped rectangle from Frames and Flags. I matted it with a slightly larger dark green piece and assembled the card. The sentiment I simply heat embossed in white on the same green cardstock and cut it down with my paper trimmer.

As a finishing touch I added clear shimmer to the santa hat and glossy accents to the candy canes.

CARD 2

As always I started with stamping and colouring the cute puppy from Christmas puppies and cut it out with the coordinating die. I also had a bone and a santa hat which I covered with Marvy Snow marker and heat it up with my heat tool. It puffs up and looks so fluffy!

I wanted a festive background for my little pup so I used the Tiny Trees stencil with Green Glitz Glitter Gel from Gina K Designs and Thermoweb. I applied it directly on a white top folding card base. Looks gorgeous and so glittery! I guess it is my favourite stencil this season!

I popped up the pup with 3D foam squares on a white strip and matted it with dark red cardstock. I stamped the sentiment in green directly above it and when the trees were dry, I mounted it all with a thin 3D foam tape from Simon Says Stamp. It is much thinner than the 3M tape but still gives dimension. I love it!

I finished it off with glossy accents on the nose and holy berries and made the eyes shiny with a black glaze pen.

GIVEAWAY

Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release – Day 2

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is 121806455_1281154408901631_3368528928141305936_n.png

Hello Everyone,

It is Day 2 of Newton’s Nook Designs’ Holiday release reveals. Today we feature the Dear Santa and the Nutcrackers stamp/die sets which also has a fun word die included!

All new products will be available on 23rd Oct, 2020!

CARD 1

For my first card I stamped the images from Dear Santa on white cardstock and coloured them with Copic markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

I also die cut a tag using the Fancy edges tag die set and white cardstock. The snow banks I cut with a Land border die and added a bit of shading to it with Copic markers. The reinforcer I cut from dark red cardstock and added red twine after popping up Santa with 3D foam squares.

I wanted to use the new Reindeer stencil as I felt it is the perfect match with Santa so I applied Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide ink over it on a kraft card base. I used a blending brush for a subtle result.

The sentiment I white heat embossed on a special brown shimmer cardstock for a festive feel and cut it down to a very narrow strip. After assembling the card I could not resist adding a bit of stickles to Santa’s uniform and a bit of glossy accents to his boots and belt.

CARD 2

The Nutcrackers is one of my favourite sets in this release, maybe because it reminds me of my childhood. I was 6 years old when I saw the ballet and it enchanted me. I imagined a classic look for my little wooden creatures so I stamped and coloured them with red, green any yellow Copic markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

I die cut the rounded rectangle from Frames and Flags from a satin pearl cardstock. I also cut the fun word die included in the Nutcrackers coordinating die set from green glitter cardstock and arranged them on the top and the bottom of the pearl panel. I popped up the two nutcrackers in between using 3D foam squares.

I white heat embossed another sentiment on brown cardstock and used a small circle die to cut it out.

For the background I chose a classic brown checked patterned paper, I really feel it makes the images stand out. And again, perfect for our guys too. I added clear shimmer and glossy accents to some details on the clothes and made the eyes shiny with a black glaze pen.

GIVEAWAY

Would you like to win the “Dear Santa”  Stamp Set or the “Nutcrackers” Stamp Set? We will choose ONE lucky winner for each stamp set!
