Have a blast! – Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

It is my turn on the Newton’s Nook Designs blog and I brought you a fun idea how to get more out of your Newton’s 4th July stamp sets after the memorial day is over.

I started with stamping and colouring the kitty on the rocket using Copic markers. I went with a grey-red-blue combo, simply because I love how it looks. I used the coordinating die to cut it out.

Then I created the background: on a piece of red cardstock I used the Fireworks stencil with Thermoweb Glitz Glitter Gel in red. It gives a gorgeous tone on tone look! And the sparkle! Heavenly.

My initial idea was to make a shaker in the middle of the card so I die cut the inside scalloped rectangles from Frameworks 4 times from navy cardstock and adhered them together. I made sure to add a piece of acetate under the last layer. The sentiment I stamped on a grey banner which I die cut with the Frames and flags die set, and adhered it to the bottom of the frame.

When I placed the frame on the glittery background I realized that it looks awesome on its own, so I did not fill the frame with sequins, but you can totally do it. As a finishing touch I used a clear shimmer pen on the rocket and glossy accents on the red parts of it. Perfect birthday card for a boy!

I hope I inspired you and you will try to stretch your holiday stamps too.

Thanks for stoppig by and see you soon,

Zsofi

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Day 3

Hello Everyone,

It is the third day of the June Release Reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs! We have the sweetest littl critters for you today, favouring both cat and dog lovers! Kitten Beach and Beach Barks both come with coordinating dies.

All new products will be available on Friday, 18/06/2021!

CARD 1

I stamped and coloured all the kitties from the Kitten Beach set with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. The colours used are the following – cats: BG9, BG7, BG5, BG2, BG1, FS3, castle: EB4, EB3, MB3, MB1, shell: TN8, AP3, AP1, sand: MB4, MB3, MB1, bucket: DG4, DG3, DG2, CT4, CT1, laddle: BT9, BT7, BT5, BT1, crab & star: DR5, DR3, DR1, chair: EB4, EB3, MB3, MB1, BT9, BT7, BT5, BT1. I used the coordinating die to cut them out.

I die cut a slimline scalloped rectangle with the Slimline Frames and Portholes die set and blended it a bit with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink for the sky. Then I used the Land and Sea border dies with the partial die cutting technique to cut the waves and sand. I blended them with Antique Linen, Blueprint Sketch and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide inks, added water and diluted ink splatters for a textured look.

After assembling the scene on a kraft slimline cardbase I stamped two sentiments in black and popped up the images with 3D foam squares. I used a black glaze pen on the eyes and glossy accents to emphasize some details.

CARD 2

As always I started with stamping and colouring the dogs from the Beach Barks set with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. The colours used are the following – big dog: TN9, EB5, EB4, EB3, TN3, TN1, LG4, LG3, LG1, BP3, BP2, BP1, TB5, TB3, TB1, small dog: TN3, TN2, TN1, LG4, LG3, LG1, TB5, TB3, TB1, CT3. I used the coordinating die to cut them out.

For the background I took a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock and used the Hills & Grass stencil to create the sandy beach with Antique Linen Distress Oxide. Then I masked off approximately in the middle with purple tape and blended the sea with Peacock Feather Distress Oxide, the sky with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink.

Then I used the Retro Palms stencil to create the trees: I used purple tape to cover the not used trees, in this way I could create the trees one by one. I used Ground Espresso for the trunk and Mowed Lawn for the leaves.

When it was done, I stamped the sentiment in black and popped up the dogs with 3D foam squares. I added glossy accents to the sunglasses, flowers, noses and the lifesaver too. I finished the card with a Marwy Snow marker to create the foam. I added dots with it and heated it with my heat tool until it puffed up. So fun!

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Day 2

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to the second day of the June Release Reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs! We continue the summer fun with another two adorable sets: Summer Moments and another cute mini called Newton’s Seashell. There is a super fun new stencil set coming too, Retro Sun & Palms.

All new products will be available on Friday, 18/06/2021!

CARD 1

For my first card I stamped and coloured the girl in the chair from Summer Moments with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. The colours used are the following – chair: EB4, EB3, EB1, MB1, BG2, BG1, BT9, BT7, BT5, BT1; girl: FS8, FS7, BP3, BP2, BP1, CT3, CT1 and BT1. I used the coordinating die to cut her out.

For the background I used the Seashells stencil with Ranger Distress Crackle paste, set it aside to dry and added Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink afterwards with a blending brush. I also sprinkled it with water and dabbed it off with a paper towel after 30 sec. I love the textured look I achieved this way.

To set the scene I die cut a small rounded rectangle from white cardstock using the Frames and Flags die set. Then I created waves with Savaged Patina and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink using the Waves and Splashes stencil. For the Sky I used the Clouds stencil with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink. I also die cut a small piece of another rounded rectangle with a Land border die, I blended Antique Linen and Walnut Stain Distress Oxide inks and added a lot of splatters: brown, black and white. This is how I love to create the perfect sandy beach.

After assembling the card I white heat embossed a sentiment on an aqua banner (Frames and Flags die set) and popped it up with 3D foam squares. I finished the card with a bit of glossy accents on the hat and the mini umbrella.

CARD 2

For my second card I followed the same process: I stamped and coloured Newton’s Seashell with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. The colours used are the following – cat: BG9, BG7, BG5, BG1, FS3, shell: BP3, BP2, BP1, CT3, CT1. I used the coordinating die to cut it out.

For the Beachy scene I created the background first, on a scalloped rectangle (Frames and Flags) I used the Retro Sun stencil with Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmelade and Mustard Seed Distress Oxide inks. Then I used the Retro Palms with a black ink for the trees. I love that layering stencils have the engraved gridlines which help with the perfect placement.

I die cut a scalloped rectangle from blue cardstock and another one from kraft. Then I used the Land border die and also a Sea Border die to create the sea and sand. I used Peacock Feathers Distress ink on the waves and Walnut Stain on the sand for a bit of shading. I added some splatters like on the previous card for a textured sandy look.

I adhered a pink patterned paper from the Whimsy Stamps Summer Breeze paper pad to a white top folding notecard and adhered the focal panel. I stamped the sentiment in black and embellished the sand with some stickers from Jolee’s Boutique. I also added glossy accents to the seashell.

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Day 1

Hello Everyone,

Iam so happy to announce the first day of the June Release Reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs! It is gonna be a fun, summer-themed week here on my blog, I cannot wait to show you everything I have been busy with. Today our Design Team showcases Newton’s 4th July and an adorable mini set called Buns Out. We also have a versatile new stencil, Fireworks, perfect for all kinds of celebrations.

All new products will be available on Friday, 18/06/2021!

CARD 1

For my first card I have stamped the vagon with the rockets and critters from the Newton’s 4th July set on alcohol ink friendly cardstock and coloured the image with Copic markers. I used the coordinting dies to cut it out.

For the background I used the Deco Foil Transfer Gel Duo from Thermoweb with the Fireworks stencil on dark blue cardstock. I usually use a spatula and the Thermoweb Stencil Pal when using any kind of pastes, it makes it so easy to spread it evenly. I set it aside to dry until it was clear and then I foiled it with Silver Shattered Glass Deco Foil using only the pressure of my die cut machine. Honestly I was lazy to heat up my laminator for one card only and the formula of the Transfer Gel Duo allows foiling with pressure only (no heat needed). Perfect solution for me! I die cut the panel with the postage edge die from Frameworks.

I also die cut a rounded rectangle from white cardstock using the Frames and Flags die set. I stamped the Celebrate sentiment on the bottom of the panel and embellished the top with the fireworks images from the Newton’s 4th July set using blue ink.

Another sentiment I white heat embossed on a grey banner (Frames and Flags die set) and adhered it to the focal panel. I popped up the image with 3D foam squares and covered the rockets and stars with glossy accents for a shiny look.

CARD 2

For my second card I had a cute idea inspired by the sentiment in the Buns Out mini set. So I stamped the burger 4 times and coloured them with Spectrum Noir Illsutrator markers. The colours used are the following – Sausage: TN9, EB5, EB3 Bun: GB7, GB4, GB2, MB1 Lettuce: DG4, DG3, DG2 Cheese: CT4, CT3, CT1 Tomato: DR4, DR3, DR1

I used the coordinating die to cut them out and while I was die cutting I also cut a postage edge rectangle (Frameworks) and little stitched triangles as napkins (Frames Squared) from the Doodlebug Designs Bar-be-cute paper pad. It matches my scene prefectly.

I also heat embossed the sentiment in white on black cardstock and cut it out with a fun little ticket die from Frameworks. I assembled the card, popped up the sun-bathing burgers with 3D foam squares and used glossy accents on the sesame seeds and sunglasses as a finishing touch. I think it is my favourite funny summer card till now!

Retirement Sale Project for Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

It is a bittersweet week at Newton’s Nook Designs as our wonderful team features retiting products for the next couple of days. I have some of my favourites on the list too, which is always sad, but it also means that some lovely new designs are coming soon! YAY! Just stay tuned!

Newton’s Nook Designs is having a retiring sale on their website. These designs are available at up to 40% off while supplies last so hurry to get your favorites before they’re gone for good!

For my card today I used the beautiful Tropical Fish stencil and the Narly Mermaids stamp/die set. I stamped the images on alcohol ink friendly cardstock with black hybrid ink and coloured the images with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers.

For the exact colours I made a little chart for you. I used the coordinating dies to cut everything out.

Then I worked on the background: on a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock I ink blended Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch, Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide inks. I used a gentle hand and blending brushes for a subtle look. Then I sprinkled it with water, let it sit for 30 sec and dried it with a paper towel.

I secured the stencil with Pixie Spray on the inked background and used the same colours over it just with a heavier hand. Before Removing the stencil I added Moda Scrap Gloss Glitter gel with a Stencil Pal. It gives a wonderful raised and pearlescent look when it is dry! Gorgeous!

While the background was drying I cut a 1,75 * 4,25 inches white strip and stamped 2 sentiments in the middle.

I popped up the narwhal, the star and the mermaid with 3D foam squares and used extra dimension for the shell too. The little fish I adhered with a drop of liquid glue.

As a finishing touch I added glossy accents to the pearl and dot details and used a black glaze pen on the eyes.

I hope you enjoyed my card today. Make sure to check the NND blog daily for more fun projects from my teamies. And don’t forget, if you like any of the products on the retiring list, act fast as when they are gone, they are gone for good!

“Sea you soon”,

Stencilled flowers for Mom – Pretty Pink Posh

Hello Everyone,

I am back again with my last Mother’s Day card this year dedicating this one to ALL supermoms out there. Being a mother is the biggest blessing and the best gift which comes with an emotional extra package (expanding with the years). I am grateful every single day to have my kids and experiencing the unconditional love which I feel for them and they feel for me.

For my card today I used the pretty Peonies stencil from Pretty Pink Posh: on a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock I inkblended Kitch Flamingo Distress Oxide ink for the flowers first. I simply turned the stencil around and masked off the leaves with post it tape to make sure I dont accidentaly go over the unnecessary open areas.

When I was happy with the arrangemet of the flowers I created masks for them from Masking Paper and covered each flower. Now it was time to add leaves with Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide ink. After removing the masks I added some splatters with my Finetec Mica Pearlescent Watercolours, I chose the dark pink and black this time.

When the panel was dry I cut it down a bit and added a vivid green mat under it. I also die cut a skinny gold frame with my old favourite Frames die set from Simon Says Stamp. I adhered it i place with drops of liquid glue. I usually use Ranger Multi Matte Medium with a precision tip for this.

The sentiment I die cut from pink cardstock with the Pretty Pink Posh Mother’s Day die. I added a white heat embossed “happy” on a tiny piece of black cardstock to it using 3D foam squares.

As a finishing touch I added dots with a black glaze pen to the flower centers, it makes them really pop!

I will upload this card to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Feminine and to the Simon Says Stamp IG Challenge Favourite Technique (stenciling is also a favourite technique of mine).

I hope you enjoyed this floral inspiration and will pop in again soon for more cheerful designs.

See you,

Zsofi

Gnome one like you! – Newton’s Nook Designs & Therm O Web

Hello everyone,

This week Newton’s Nook Designs and Therm O Web are partnering for a fabulous inspiration week! All week long both design teams will be sharing ways to add use Therm O Web products with Newton’s Nook Designs stamps! There are prizes too! Read all the way to the end of this post to find out how you can win!

For my project I stamped and coloured images from the Gnome Garden stamp set using Copic markers. I made sure to have multiples of the butterflies and flowers to fill my little scene. I cut everything out with the coordinating dies.

I created a textured background directly on a heavy weight white card base (I prefer to use the Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock for that). I sprayed the back of the Hardwood stencil with Pixie Spray to ensure it is not gonna move while I am applying Aged Copper Metallix Gel with a Stencil Pal from Thermoweb. After removing the stencil I set it aside to dry for an hour or so.

Meawhile I created my scene: I die cut a Stitched Oval (Heffy Doodle die) from Sea Glass cardstock and added a bit of shading to it with a blending brush. I used Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink, but to be honest only the residues I had on my brush as I wanted a very subtle shading. I used the same die to cut a piece from Thermoweb Green Flock Transfer Sheet and used the Land border die to cut it down to be the grass. The greatest thing about these Flock Transfer sheets – apart from their fluffy touch – is that they are sturdy and can be inked. Therefore I used a bit of Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide ink to add shading to the edges.

I still needed some clouds: from White Flock Transfer Sheets I die cut two stitched clouds with the Sky Scene Builder die set. I used the Salty Ocean inked brush to distress it a bit too.

After assembling the scene I die cut a white Speech Bubble and stamped a sentiment on it with black ink.

When the card base was dry I used a blending brush and Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide ink for an uneven ink blending. This way I got a really textured, natural looking background. I love it!

I popped up the focal panel with 3D foam tape and added my usual finishing touches: black glaze pen on the eyes and dots of the ladybugs, clear shimmer on the wings of the butterflies and glossy accents on the belt an flower centres. Isn’t it cute?

There are more amazing projects today over on the Therm O Web blog so pop over there for more inspiration!

Heffy Doodle New Release – Day 4

Hello Everyone,

It is the last day of the New Release reveals at Heffy Doodle, but still so many new products are being introduced on the Heffy Doodle Blog. It is definitely worth to check!

Pre-orders are open from today and don’t forget: with every pre-order you can get a freebie stamp, and if your order is above 45GBP you will receive even the coordinating dies! Wohoo!

My inspiration for you today is a cute, layered design with a lot of texture.

First I started with ink blending through the Balloon Room stencil on Bristol Smooth cardstock with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink. Then I shifted the stencil and added a second layer of balloons with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink. I shifted again and for the last layer I applied Brilliant Blue Glitz Glitter Gel from Thermoweb using a stencil pal. I removed the stencil, cleaned it right away and set the panel aside to dry.

Meanwhile I stamped and coloured the cute fox and party hat from the Popping by stamp set using Copic markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

While I was at die cutting I also cut the Happy Birthday Shadow die from glitter cardstock and its shadow from blue.

When the stenciled background was dry I trimmed it down a little and added black and gold splatters. I dried it with my heat tool, adhered the sentiment and popped up the fox with thin 3D foam tape. I added an orange mat to the panel before adhering it to a white card base.

As a finishing touch I used a black glaze pen on the eyes, glossy accents on the nose and party hat too.

I hope you enjoyed today’s inspiration with the new release and will come back soon for more!

See you,

Zsofi

Heffy Doodle New Release – Day 2

Hello Everyone,

It is the second day of the new release reveals at Heffy Doodle with a whole bunch of great new products. On the Heffy Doodle Blog you will see a lot of details and I have a project for you to tease you further.

With every pre-order you can get a freebie stamp, and if your order is above 45GBP you will receive even the coordinating dies! Wohoo!

For today’s card I stamped and coloured the images from the Pandtastic Painters stamp set using Copic markers and cut everything out with the coordinating dies. I adhered them on a kraft tag which I die cut with the Tag along die set, added a black reinforcer and black and white twine.

I added tiny little confetti to the canvas, I made these with the little dies from the Tag along set. So fun to use these as embellishments!

The sentiment is made with the new Create die: the shadow I die cut from black cardstock and the word “create” from white 3 times and stacked them together. Then I used a bunch of Copic markers to add the rainbow colours. I tried to colour the edges too, for a smoother look. When I adhered it to its place I covered the letters with glossy accents and set it aside to dry.

The background I also created with a fun new stencil. I laid the Broad strokes stencil on a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock and applied different Distress Oxides in each row: Blueprint Sketch, Speckled Egg, Twisted Citron and Mustard Seed. Before removing the stencil I added some splatters with water and black ink and also sprayed it with Tsukineko Shimmer Mist. It gave a subtle sparkly look to it, so gorgeous!

I used a kraft card base, adhered the stenciled panel and popped up the tag at an angle using 3D foam tape. As a finishing touch I added glossy accents to the colour palette, the panda’s nose and the little heart.

I hope you enjoyed my card inspiration with Heffy Doodle’s new release, make sure to pop in again tomorrow for more reveals!

See you,

Zsofi

Newton’s Nook Designs April Release – Day 3

Hello Everyone,

We are halfway through the April release reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs, but we still have loads of cute stamps to show you. Today we are introducing Puppy friends and its coordinating dies. I have a clean and simple slimline design for you to showcase these little pups.

All new products will be available on Friday, 23rd April, 2021.

I stamped and coloured all the images with Copic markers and cut them all out with their coordinating dies.

Then on a slimline white card front (3,75*8,5 inches) I used the Slimline Masking Circle stencil to add colourful spots. I wanted to make it more playful so I shifted the stencil along the engraved gridlines and made 2 of the circles to the right and one to the left. I used Spiced Marmelade and Twisted Citron Distress Oxide inks. I made each circle one by one, but thanks to the gridlines on the stencil it was super easy. Before removing the stencil I added water and diluted black ink splatters each time.

When the background was dry I stamped a sentiment in each circle with black ink and popped up the dogs with 3D foam squares.

I cut a tiny bit off the panel on each side and matted it with dark brown cardstock to make the images pop even more. Of course I could not leave it without finishing touches: I added black glaze pen on the eyes, glossy accents on the noses and covered the collar and scarf with clear shimmer.
