Grateful – Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

We are celebrating namedays here in Hungary and I have mine today. On special occasions I tend to think even more of all the blessings I have and all the things I am grateful for. Being able to craft and share my art with all of you is one of them! So here is my latest card for Newton’s Nook Designs, I used a older stencil paired with the new Fall Roundabout stamp set.

I started with stamping and colouring the leaves with Copic markers. I used Fall colours, it felt so good! I used a simple circle die to cut it out.

Then I created a colourful mat using the Circle frames die set, adhered it under the coloured panel, took a deep breath and cut it in half with my paper trimmer. It needed courage, but we need to be brave, right?

I wanted a little texture in the background so I chose the Hardwood stencil and applied white texture paste over it diercty on a white top folding A2 sized card base. It dries fairly quickly but I set it aside for like 2 hours.

The sentiment I gold heat embossed on a thin strip of white cardstock and used a mustard coloured cardstock to create a mat for it.

When the background was dry I popped up the focal panel with 3D foam tape. I added green twine to the top and drops of glossy accents on the small leaves and the acorns for texture.

I love the elegance and delicacy of this design. Simple but it still has a lot of texture. Just my style. I hope you enjoyed today’s inspiration and will come back soon for more!

See you,

Zsofi

Stenciling techniques – Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello everyone,

Mother’s Day is approaching quickly in the US (we had it on Sunday already in Hungary) therefore I brought you a couple of projects to celebrate our mums. They are all focused on the Floral Lace stencil from Newton’s Nook Designs with different stenciling techniques.

Card 1

I will admit, this is my favourite of all. I used the stencil on kraft cardstock with Distress Crackle Texture paste which I have coloured with Distress Oxide inks beforehand. Although I used bright colours (Picked Raspberry, Cared Pumpin and Mustard Seed), it makes a very pretty muted pastel colour after drying. And it cracks, so beautiful! Gorgeous on its own, don’t you think?

When it was dry I used the Frames and flags die to cut it out.

The sentiment (Mother’s Day stamp set) I white heat embossed on vellum which had Stick it adhesive on the back so I could double it up easily. I used Stick it also to adhere it down to the background.

I used a white gelly roll pen to colour the flowers and added little white pearls to the centers. So delicate and special because of the paste! I cannot wait to play more with this crackle paste!

Card 2

Here I used a different technique: first I added a stenciled layer with white pigment ink on kraft cardstock. Then I moved the stencil a bit and added Distress Oxide inks (same colours as above).

To make the whole colourful layer be more special I added Moda Scrap Gelly Gloss glitter gel which made it shiny and delicatly glittery. This was a totally new to me product too, but I am so happy that I tried it! Fantastic!

Here the sentiment I stamped with Distress Oxide inks and clear heat embossed them. I painted the flowers with the same inks and added glossy accents to the centers.

To cut the sentiment I partial die cut the rounded rectangle from Frames and Flags. The stenciled background is die cut with the scalloped rectangle die from the same set.

Card 3

I still had plenty of coloured texture paste on my craft mat from the first card, so I made another background witht he same stencil. Here the colours mixed more, creating new shades.

When it was dry, I cut the panel down with a Sky border die, added Mama under it with die cut letters (Essential Alphabet) and a white heat embossed sentiment on dark brown cardstock (Birthday Essentials).

I finished this card with a few satin sequins.

I hope you enjoyed this extensive post and I made you curious to try different ways to use your stencils.

Big hugs,

Zsofi

Newton’s Nook Designs August Release – Day 4

Hello Everyone,

We have reached the final day of the sneak peeks at the fa-boo-lous August release at Newton’s Nook Designs. Are you excited? I hope you liked the last three days and are ready for getting in spooky mood. Today we are showcasing 2 Halloween stamps with their coordinating dies and fun new stencil. All of these will be available tomorrow, 23/08!

CARD #1

For my first card I stamped and coloured the adorable dogs from Happy Howl-oween with Copic markers and cut them out with the coordinating dies. I stamped a bunch of extra candies for building a cute garden scene.

The next step was to create the night sky background. I used the Clouds stencil on Bristol Smooth cardstock and Wilted Violet Distress ink. When it was done, I die cut the panel with my favourite postage frame die from Frameworks.

I also die cut a Fence from woodgrain cardstock and grass with a Land border die from black cardstock. I applied a bit of white pigment ink on the grassy border for a spooky look.

After adhering the background a black cardbase and attaching the fence and grass, I placed the dogs temporarily where they would be. I felt I wanted the sky to be more Halloween-y so I pulled out the Flying Bats stencil and used mini blending brush to add a couple of bats around the dogs with Black Soot Distress ink.

I partial die cut some speech bubbles from white cardstock to match the sentiments and popped them and the dogs up with 3D foam squares. I scattered the candies in the grass all around.

As a finishing touch I added a bit of clear shimmer to the wizard costume and the candies and emphasized some details with glossy accents and a black glaze pen.

CARD #2

For my second card I coloured the Witchy Newton set with Copic markers and cut it out with its coordinating die. I cut a lime green and a slightly wider purple piece of cardstock, adhered them together and tore a piece of vellum which was tiny taller so I could wrap it around the coloured cardstock piece. I added strong tape on the back of the panel to secure the vellum.

I stamped the sentiment with black STAZ-ON ink and adhered the cut out image under it.

I embellished the vellum with tiny silver stars and added some clear shimmer to the boot and glossy accents on some of the details.

The background for the focal panel I created on a black scalloped rectangle (Frames and flags die set). I masked off the stitching parts with purple tape and applied Thermoweb Pearl metallix deco foil gel though the new Ghost stencil. I love the pearlescent shine after drying!

I mounted the assembled panel on a dark grey card base to match the spooky feel.

Newton’s Nook Designs August Release – Day 1

Hello Everyone,

I am super excited today as we are starting the absolutely “fall-tastic” and gorgeous August Release reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs. The first set we are showcasing is called Pumpkin Latte – yes, a coffee themed fall set! YAY! I just love the girl images and all the little extras to create little scenes. It also has coordinating dies.

For my card I stamped and coloured the images with Copic markers and cut them out with the coordinating dies. I am in love with those huge pumpkins!

I decided to use the Falling leaves stencil on my card base with white texture paste.

It gives a pretty tone-on-tone textured look and matches the theme perfectly.

When it was dry, I added some rainbow plaid patterned paper (Sunny Studio) to the bottom of the card and accented it with a thin strip of dark brown cardstock.

After adhering the images in place with liquid glue, I used one of the banners from the Frames and flags die set to cut a dark brown flag. I white heat embossed a sentiment on it and added it on the top left corner of the card.

As a finishing touch I added some glossy accents to the stems, coffee caps and the pockets of her jacket. I love how cheerful this card turned out with the bright fall colours and the textured background.

Newton’s Nook Designs May Release – Day 1

Hello Everyone,

It is the best part of the month as we start revealing the fantastic May Release of Newton’s Nook Designs! Who is excited? Today is for the movie lovers – Newton is having a movie night!

There are also 2 new stencils revealed today! Look at the popcorn one! So unique! All new products will be available on 17/05!

Here is my card for today:

I started with stamping and colouring the kitties in the cinema using Copic markers. I used the coordinating die to cut them out.

I masked off one inch on the bottom of a top folding white note card and applied Black Soot Distress Oxide ink very gently.

On this I stamped the sentiment and some popcorn using black ink.

After masking off the bottom part of the card, I mixed some Antique Linen Distress ink to white texture paste and applied it over the Popcorn stencil. It is not so visible on the picture but the texture is gorgeous in real life!

When it was all dry, I added the die cut image and emphasized some details with glossy accents. Isn’t it cute?
