Flowers in two ways – Pink and Main

Hello Everyone,

I am back today with 2 heat embossed flower cards made with the new release from Pink and Main. I wanted to show you that the same design can result in a very different look depending on the technique you use. ALERT: both cards are super easy and quick, can be done with kids also!

Note: due to the Corona virus threat and lockdown, Pink and Main has postponed the new release a little. But don’t worry, the stamp I used will be available soon!

CARD 1

I white heat embossed the pretty Wildflower on Bristol Smooth cardstock along with the sentiment.

Then I simply scribbled some Tombow markers on the cardstock at a diagonal angle. I used a rainbow order, but you can use any colours you prefer. Then I took a simple baby wipe and gently rubbed it over the coloured panel. It smooshes the ink a little bit, giving it a very textured but smooth look. Isn’t it gorgeous?

I went back with the same markers on the flower parts, to make them stand out more and used a clear shimmer pen to add a little sparkle to the petals.

I cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die and added a slightly bigger black mat to it before adhering it to a white top folding note card. I white heat embossed the rest of the sentiment on a thin piece of black cardstock and finished the card with a couple of iridescent jewels.

CARD 2

On the second card I black heat embossed the same image and sentiment and coloured it quickly with Tombow markers. I added a little colour next to the outlines and pulled it out with a lighter shade. I added a blue halo around the flower to make it pop.

The sentiment is again heat embossed on a thin strip of black cardstock. So easy and fast!

I die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die and added a slightly bigger blue mat to it before adhering it to a white top folding note card. I embellished the card with iridescent jewels.

I hope you enjoyed today’s inspiration and you will pop in again soon for more!

Hugs,

Zsofi

Butterfly wishes – Pink and Main

Hello Everyone,

I am here again with a fun technique which allows you to turn your stamped images into real embellishments. I used stamps and dies from Pink and Main.

I used the You can fly stamp set for this technique because it has an outline stamp and a solid one, but it can work without the solid piece too, I will tell you how. First I white heat embossed the outline butterfly on Bristol Smooth cardstock. I made 2 butterflies as I wanted to try two inking techniques.

On one I just scribbled Tombow markers and washed away the colours with a wet baby wipe. So easy and vibrant colours!

On the second one I used Distress Oxide inks with a blending brush: this inking method gave much smoother and softer tones. Both are beautiful don’t you think?

When it was dry I stamped the solid image over the coloured one with clear embossing ink and covered it with clear embossing powder. I repeated the process with an iridescent glittery powder too to get more sparkle. If you use a stamp which does not have a solid pair, you can simply use your embossing ink pad directly on the paper. I cut the butterflies with their coordinaing die.

To make my butterflies pop, I simply die cut stitched rectangles from woodgrain cardstock and matted them with an aqua one. I popped up the butterflies with 3D foam squares and added a heat embossed sentiment from the Special day stamp set which I cut with the Sentiment strip dies.

I hope you enjoyed this fun technique and will give it a try. See you soon with more ideas!

Hugs,

Zsofi

Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – DAY 1

Hello Everyone,

I am super excited that the January release reveals start today over at Newton’s Nook Designs. We are showcasing the adorable Tides of love stamp and die set. There is also a fantastic new layering stencil coming, called Bokeh hearts (I will show this in action soon!) All new products will be available on 24th January.

Here is my set of cards for today:

As always I started with stamping and colouring the sweet sea critters on white cardstock and coloured them with Copic markers.

I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

From the small images I made extras so I can use them as embellishments.

I wanted a very simple but eye-catching background so I scribbled blue and green shades of Tombow markers on Bristol Smooth cardstock. I used a wet baby wipe to wash the colours. So easy to do and the result is really stunning, don’t you think? I made 2 backgrounds so I can make two cards. I sprinkled them with water and also added some diluted ink splatters (I used Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide ink). I wanted more texture so I added also white acrylic paint sprinkles too.

When the background was dry I cut it with the rounded stitched square die from Frames Squared and white heat embossed a sentiment matching my main character in the bottom right corner.

I made a slightly bigger mat for this panel from Blue Violet cardstock and adhered it to a white scalloped square (cut with another die from Frames Squared). I made card bases from light grey cardstock: 4,25×4,25 inches.

After popping up the main critters with 3D foam squares and adding the little fish as embellishments, I used a white gel pen to add dotted details and used glossy accents on the fins of the fish, the water splatters and the heart.

Newton’s Nook Designs November Release – DAY 1

Hello Everyone,

I am super excited to share with you my inspiration for the first day of Newton’s Nook Designs November Release! It is full of winter fun, today our team showcases the Snowmen Party stamp set which perfectly coordinates with the previously released Frames Squared die set. All new products will be available on Friday, 15/11!

For my card I stamped the image with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with silver embossing powder. I used Tombow markers to add colour.

I trimmed around the coloured image with my paper trimmer leaving a bit of white frame. I matted it with a light blue scalloped stitched square which I cut with the Frames Squared die set.

The background is a snowflake patterned paper from Doodlebug Designs, I popped up the focal panel on this with 3D foam squares.

As a finishing touch I added pink twine on the top of the card and used glossy accents on the buttons and carrot noses.

Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release – Day 3

Hello Everyone,

We are halfway through the Holiday Release reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs. We are introducing you 2 fantastic stamp sets today: Holiday Fringe and Main Street Christmas (which has coordinating dies too with some words included!)

CARD 1

I stamped the Holiday Fringe stamp on kraft cardstock with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Gold embossing powder.

I used my Prismacolour pencils to add colour, it is so relaxing and pure joy!

When I was done, I trimmed it down with my paper trimmer to have a little frame and matted it with a white scalloped square from the Frames Squared die set.

I popped it up on a red 4,25×4,25 inch card base with 3D foam squares and added some clear shimmer to the ribbons and baubles.

I also added glossy accents to the Merry sentiment, the light string, berries and candy cane. I love the texture and dimension!

CARD 2

For my second card I stamped the Main Street Christmas stamp set on white cardstock and coloured it with Copic markers.

I used rainbow colours 🙂

I die cut it with its coordinating die and added some white Flower Soft to the roofs with liquid glue.

For the background I die cut a scalloped stitched rectangle from Frames and Flags and masked off the scallop part with Purple Tape. I sponged blue distress oxide inks and added some water sprinkles. I also splattered the background with white acrylic paint.

I die cut the word joyful from white glitter cardstock and stamped the santa sleigh in black next to it. I adhered the panel to a kraft note card and popped up the houses with 3D foam squares.

CARD 3

I really wanted to make a more pastel version of the Main Street Christmas, so I white heat embossed it on SSS Fog cardstock. I used Tombow markers to add some grey, pink and blue to the houses and used a white pencil to add white details.

When it was ready I created a mask with the coordinating die and simple printer paper. I also masked off a frame with Purple tape and sponged a light layer of Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink. I tried to get it lighter towards the houses.

I also used the Petite Snow stencil and White Glitz Glitter gel from Thermoweb/Gina K designs to add a layer of snow.

I white heat embossed a sentiment on vivid pink cardstock and die cut it with a skinny banner die (Lawn Fawn).

When the snowflakes were dry I popped up the sentiment banner with 3D foam squares and adhered it all to a white card base.

GIVEAWAY

Would you like to win the “Main Street Christmas”  or the “Holiday Frings” Stamp Set? We will choose ONE lucky winner for each stamp set! This stamp set will be given away to ONE lucky winner! Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release – Day 1

Hello Everyone,

I am super excited to switch to Winter this week here on my blog as we start the Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release reveals! It is a gorgeous, jam packed release all about the upcoming holidays. Lets dive in! Today our team showcases new stencils and 2 fantastic stamp/die sets: Christmas Trimmings and Holiday Lights. All new products will be available on 18/10!

CARD 1

If you follow me you know how much I adore stencils! NND has the most unique ones in my opinion. The Light Strings stencil has 2 pieces for easy layering.

I started with the strings layer on white cardstock adding Versamark ink directly from the ink pad. I poured silver sparkle embossing powder on top and heat set it with a heat gun.

Then I added Distress Inks in rainbow colours through the Lights layer using a mini dauber and before removing the stencil I covered them all with Cosmic Shimmer Frosty Sparkle paste (Creative Expressions).

Until it was drying I die cut a banner from silver metallic cardstock and a smaller one from peacock cardstock using the Frames and Flags die set. On the silver one I heat embossed a sentiment from the Sentiments of the Season stamp set using WOW White Sparkling Snow embossing glitter.

When the paste was dry I trimmed the paneldown a little and adhered it to a grey card base. I popped upthe layered sentiment with 3D foam squares. Look at the sparkle, so beautiful!

CARD 2

On my next card I used the Ornaments stencil on Audrey Blue cardstock (Simon Says Stamp) with Gina K Designs Glitz Glitter Gel (Turquoise Sea).

I applied it with a stencil pal from Thermoweb – it is a fabulous tool and makes spreading the pastes evenly and so fast!

Until it was drying I stamped and coloured the images from the Christmas Trimmings stamp set. I used Copic markers and cut them out with the coordinating dies.

I die cut a stitched Oval (Simon Says Stamp) from Sea glass cardstock and adhered the images. I added some shading under them with a grey Copic marker and a colourless blender.

I also die cut two white circles using the Frames Squared die set and heat embossed some of the sentiments from the stamp set with Antique Gold embossing powder from Simon Says Stamp.

After assembling the card, I added some shimmer to the shoes, ribbon, cap and the baubles with a clear shimmer pen and emphasized some details with glossy accents.

CARD 3

I was so happy to see the face of the girl finally that I had to use that image on another card. I coloured a bunch of presents and baubles too and adhered them all on a strip of Audrey blue cardstock.

I stamped the sentiments around her with Audrey Blue ink and once more with Versamark so I could heat emboss it with clear embossing powder. This way the colour got darker and shiny.

I added some scalloped edges from white cardstock (Sky border die set) and popped it up on a pretty patterned paper from Doodlebug Designs using 3D foam tape.

A bit of clear shimmer and glossy accents were the only embellishments used on this card.

CARD 4

My last card for today is also a very festive one with a lot of shimmer.

I stamped the Holiday Lights images on Bristol Smooth cardstock with Versamark ink and heat embossed with WOW Metallic Gold Sparkle Embossing glitter.

I used some Tombow markers to add colour and spread them out with a clear shimmer pen. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

I die cut the postage stamp die from Frameworks from heavy weight white cardstock, sprinkled it with gold paint (Finetec) and added 2 strings of gold sparkle twine (Lawn Fawn). I secured them on the back of the panel.

I stamped the sentiment in green in between the 2 strings and popped up the lights with 3D foam squares. I adhered the panel down to a kraft card base.

I love the shimmer and shine on the lights. Simple design but still so unique!

Pink and Main August Release Sneak Peek 2

Hello everyone,

It is my second post today, if you are looking for my Newton’s Nook Designs August release Day 1 post, click here.

Now I am back with another sneak peek, this time at a wonderful sentiment set from the August release of Pink and Main. I created a pretty floral encouragement card. Who would not like to get one like this in the mail?

The new Going places stamp set is full of gorgeous sentiments which pair so well with the handwritten ones. I wanted to use the beautiful Thinking of you always stamp set with it, I felt it is a perfect match!

I started with stamping the florals on Bristol Sooth cardstock with Versafine Onyx black pigment ink and clear heat embossed it. You can skip the heat embossing part, I am just impatient to wait for the ink to dry and I love the raised shiny edges. It helps me with my colouring.

Before colouring I masked off the sentiment line with purple tape and applied Tumbled Glass Distress Ink with a small blending brush for a subtle background colour.

Then I used Tombow markers and a water brush to colour the flowers. I kept the colour family in the blue-green range. I also went back in certain areas with a clear shimmer pen to add some sparkle.

When it was dry, I stamped the sentiment with purple and blue inks and cut the panel down. I matted it with a Stitched Rectangle cut from blue cardstock and adhered it to a white top folding card base. I finished it off with a couple of iridescent jewels.

I hope you enjoyed today’s sneak peek at another gorgeous sentiment set. All new goodies will be available tomorrow, 20/08! Until next time, happy crafting!

Newton’s Nook Designs’ 6 year celebration – DAY 4

Hello Everyone,

It is the last day of the July release reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs. I warn you: it is a picture heavy post thanks to all the cute mini stamp/die sets left for the last day 🙂

CARD 1

My first card is a clean and simple one featuring the Gull friend stamp/die set. I love these birds, they mean summer to me somehow.

I stamped and coloured them with Tombow Markers and cut them out with the coordinating dies.

Then I set a mini scene with the use of an Avery Elle die (Diagonal Stripes) which I cut from textured white cardstock. I chose a light blue cardstock to be the background but sponged some Salty Ocean Distress ink on the edges of it to show through the frame. I also used the Waves&Splashes stencil to create an ocean background for the seagulls.

I die cut the word Hello using the Essential Alphabet die set 3 times and layered them on top of each other. On the last layer I sponged a bit of Salty Ocean Distress ink to match the background.

I assembled the card, stamped the sentiment in black and embellished it with some stickers from my stash (Little B). I also emphasized the birds’ eyes with a black glaze pen and added glossy accents to the beaks, legs and the hello sentiment too.

CARD 2

Watermelon is my favourite summer fruit and it suits Newton so much too 🙂 I stamped and coloured him with Tombow markers and cut him out with its coordinating dies.

I die cut a red striped patterned paper (Sunny Studio) with the postage edge die from the Frameworks die set and adhered it to a kraft card base.

For the kitty I created a tag with the Fancy Edges Tag die set. The base is from white linen textured cardstock, backed with a dark brown mat. I cut the decorative edge from green dotted patterned paper 2 times and layered them on top of each other. Finally the reinforcer I cut from dark brown cardstock.

I stamped the sentiment in brown, popped up the kitty with 3D foam squares and added some chunky twine from Tonic Studios. I mounted the tag at angle using 3D foam squares.

The embellishments are sequins and beads from a Watermelon mix from Simon Says Stamp. I also added drops of glossy accents to the melon and seeds.

CARD 3

I think the Shrimp Cocktail is the funniest stamp set in this release! I coloured them with Tombow markers and cut them out with the coordinating dies.

I kept this card very simple: the background is patterned paper from my stash, I die cut a pretty stitched frame (Memory Box) from teal and white cardstock and layered them on top of each other. From the inside teal piece i die cut some waves with the Sea border dies.

I assembled the scene and stamped sentiments in black from the Shrimp Cocktail and Newton’s New Year stamp sets.

I finished this cute card with some Simon Says Stamp confetti mix sequins and a tiny drop of glossy accent on the olives.

CARD 4

And my last card for today is the most refreshing one.

I stamped the lemons twice from the Lemon Twist set with Versafine Onyx black ink on Ranger Watercolour cardstock and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I added colour with Tombow markers and cut them out with the coordinating dies.

I die cut a rounded stitched rectangle from textured white cardstock using the Frames and flags die set. I popped up the 2 lemons with 3D foam squares and stamped the sentiments around the image with black ink.

The background is a pretty patterned paper from Sunny Studio, I mounted the focal panel with 3D foam squares and embellished the card with yellow jewels from Pinkfresh Studio.

Super-sized hugs – Pink and Main

Hello Everyone,

I am back again with a little sneak peek at the cute Super-sized stamp and die set from the fabulous July Release at Pink and Main – available on 20th July!

I love food themed sets and this one is super cute as you can stamp the funny faces on each. I stamped them all on Bristol Smooth cardstock and used Tombow markers to add colour. Then I cut them out with the coordinating dies.

I also die cut a Stitched star from green cardstock and one from heavy weight vellum and used tiny drops of liquid glue at the stitch lines to adhere them together. In this way the glue doesn’t show through.

For the background of my card I chose a green gingham from the Something Whimsy paper pad and cut it down to cover the full front of an A2 sized card.

After heat embossing a sentiment with white embossing powder on a thin strip of black cardstock I arranged the die cut images and popped them up with 3D foam squares. The sentiment banner as well.

As a finishing touch I added some google eyes and glossy accents to the straw, mustard, tomato and the front of the french fries box. I added some white gel pen details and scattered some clear sequins all around.

I wish you like today’s inspiration and will pop in again soon for more! Until then, get your shopping list ready and happy crafting!

Newton’s Nook Designs’ 6 year celebration – DAY 3

Hello Everyone,

We are halfway through the July release reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs. How do you like this mega release so far? Today we have 2 new square panel stamp sets: Zoo Party and Tropical Fringe. All of these will be available on Friday 19/07!

CARD 1

I will start with the Zoo party card: I stamped and coloured the crew with Copic markers keeping the colours to greys and browns with a pop of yellow and green.

I cut around the edges leaving tiny white frame and adhered it to a green scalloped square die cut (Frames Square die set).

I stamped the sentiment in the middle with matching green ink (Gina K Designs).

The kraft card base is a custom square one which I created with the partial die cutting technique using the biggest die from the Frames Square die set.

A bit of glossy accents on the noses and black glaze pen on the eye plus the tiny gold sequins finished it off.

CARD 2

With the Tropical Fringe stamp set I created a very bright and colourful card, perfect for the summer. I stamped on Bristol Smooth cardstock and coloured it with Tombow markers. I also stamped the fun sentiment in the middle and coloured it too.

I cut around the image without leaving a frame and adhered it to a slightly bigger dark green square and then layered an even bigger pink one under it.

I used some textured white cardstock to create my cardbase which measures 4.25*4.25 inches.

I added a bit of shimmer to the tiny flowers and adhered a tiny pearl in the middle of them. I also added a lot of glossy accents to the hibiscus and the Summer word in the sentiment. I love the shiny raised look i get this way!
