Newton’s Nook Designs April Release – Day 4

Hello Everyone,

Today is the last day of the Newton’s Nook Designs April Release reveals. If you are a Newton fan like me, then I am sure you were waiting for what he is up to this month. He is celebrating friendship with a cute little stamp/die set.

And as Mother’s and Father’s Day are approaching fast too, there are 2 new mini sets for the occasion. All new products will be available tomorrow, Friday 12/04!

NEWTON’S BIRDHOUSE

I stamped and coloured Newton with his bird friends and some additional birds and hearts too. I used the coordinating dies to cut them all out and set them aside until I worked on the background.

On a white card base i masked off a strip and applied Salty ocean and Tumbled glass distress oxide inks. I was longing to try the new Hardwood stencil just to add texture, and although it is a wooden one, I used it to add more interest to my sky, so I used the same ink colours as before. After removing the stencil, I went back with the sponge applicator to make the lines smoother. I love the soft effect I get this way.

I white heat embossed a sentiment from the set on a black banner (MFT Blueprints 7) and used 3D foam squares to mount the images and the banner.

As a finishing touch I added clear shimmer to the hearts and covered them with glossy accents, just as the beaks of the nightingales.

MOTHER’S DAY

The sentiment is so pretty on its own, that i simply heat embossed it with gold embossing powder on Bristol Smooth cardstock and quickly coloured the flowers with ZIG Clean Color Real Brush markers.

I die cut the panel with the scalloped rectangle frame die from the Frameworks die set and cut an extra 2 frames from Guava cardstock. I adhered the frames with liquid glue on top of each other for a dimensional look.

For the background I used the fabulous Floral lace stencil with Worn Lipstick and Spun Sugar Distress Oxide inks but before removing the stencil I spritzed it with Tsukineko Shimmer Spritz. As a finishing touch I added Nuvo glitter drops to the center of the flowers.

FATHER’S DAY

I had a ready background I made earlier with Nuvo Shimmer powders which i die cut with my favourite postage stamp die from Frameworks. Then I used the Frames Squared die set to partially die cut a rounded stitched rectangle as my focal panel.

I used Kaleidacolor Blue Breeze to stamp the ombre sentiment and using my stamp positioner I also stamped it with Versamark ink so I could cover it with clear embossing powder and heat set it. I love the shiny raised look!

I used my clear shimmer pen to add some sparkle to the fish and water droplets and matted the panel with a blue violet cardstock before mounting it on the background with 3D foam squares.

You have a pizza my heart

Hello Everyone,

I am back today with a funny and very pink love card featuring Lawn Fawn stamps and dies. this project was inspired by the current Lawnfawnatics Color Challenge #46.

I pictured a little pizza scene in my head and looked through my Lawn Fawn stamps to select the right critters. I stamped them from the Pizza my heart, Cheery Christmas and Love letters sets on Bristol Smooth cardstock. I coloured them with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Then I used the Outside in stitched scalloped rectangles die on a piece of alcohol inked background (I have a few I created earlier waiting to be used on cards). I used a metallic purple cardstock rectangle as a mat in between the layers.

I also cut grass from metallic gold cardstock with the grassy border die and ran it through again with the same scalloped rectangle to have the right shape.

I white heat embossed the I love you sentiment from the Love letters set on the heart shaped pizza and assembled the card. I used Black Staz-on ink to stamp the sentiment on the top of my scene. When it was done, i adhered it to a white card base.

I hope you liked my card today (even if it is REALLY pink), and will pop in again soon for more inspiration!

Have a lovely Sunday,

Pink and Main Sneak Peek January – Sweet Carousel

Hello Everyone,

This is my second post today, and i am here with a magical and very special card featuring new goodies from the January Release at Pink and Main. All new products will be available on 20/01/2019.

I started with stamping the cute Unicorn image from the Sweet Carousel stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink and clear heat embossed it. I coloured it with Zig Clean Colour Real Brush markers and used the coordinating dies to cut it out. Did you know that Pink and Main makes their matching dies unattached? I love that I don’t have to separate them, no sharp edges, ready to use.

Then I die cut also the Magical word die several times from white cardstock and once from Rose gold metallic paper. I stacked them together. I also die cut a white stitched heart with a Double stitched heart die.

For the background I chose a metallic rose gold striped paper from the new and absolutely gorgeous Watercolor Foil paper pad. Oh my goodness, it is such a pretty pad! I cut it down to cover an A2 sized card and heat embossed the rest of the sentiment in white using the new Magical stamp set.

The last step was to assemble the card and embellish it with a few Glossy Rose Gold hearts.

I hope you liked today’s sneak peek, make sure to come back again soon for more fun reveals! Until next time, happy crafting!

Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – Day 2

Hello Everyone,

It is Day 2 of the January Release reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs and today is all about coffee 😀 I must admit I am addicted to coffee, cannot start the day without 1 or rather 2. But look at all these cups:

For my project I stamped the image with Versamark ink on Bristol Smooth cardstock and heat embossed it with black detailed embossing powder. I usually shy away from using black powders, I rather stamp with Versafine Onyx black ink and use clear embossing powder, but I wanted to be brave this time 🙂 I used an anti-static powder bag generously before stamping and it made the embossing perfect.

Then I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to add colour. I wanted a very colourful card, which can cheer anyone up on a dull winter day. I used a waterbrush to give the watercolour feel.

When it was all dry, I die cut it with the scalloped rectangle from the Frames and Flags die set. I also cut a banner with another die from the set from black cardstock and white heat embossed a sentiment on it. Then I placed it on the painted panel to see where it would go and die cut the edge with the scalloped die.

I gave the panel a black mat and adhered it to a striped background paper. Surprise but I did not use any embellishments, the colours of this cheerful scenes were enough to make it complete.

Last minute holiday crafting with Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

Today I am on the Newton’s Nook Designs blog with a pretty card which is perfect for last minute holiday crafting. I am so behind with my Christmas cards and I really needed a design which is easy to mass produce. So I came up with this:

NND_DecExtra_zsm01IG

I stamped and silver heat embossed a bunch of poinsettia images from the gorgeous Poinsettia Blooms stamp set. I used my Zig Clean Colour Real Brush markers to add a touch of colour and used a clear shimmer pen to move it around. In this way I needed only on shade of each colour and still get the effect of a professionally coloured flower 🙂 I could also vary the colours I used, so even if the design was the same I did not get bored with it.

NND_DecExtra_zsm03_blog

When they were all dry, I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I also die cut the rounded rectangle from the Frames and Flags die set from a thick white cardstock. I used the sentiments from the Poinsettia Blooms stamp set but you can easily add variation by choosing sentiments from other sets too. I silver heat embossed them on the bottom of the rectangles.

NND_DecExtra_zsm04_blog

NND_DecExtra_zsm06_blog

I used 3D foam squares to add the flowers, 3 on each panel. Then I added a matching thin mat and mounted it on a white card base which I previously covered with some sparkly wrapping paper. I like to recycle my wrapping papers if they are pretty!

NND_DecExtra_zsm05

I will upload this project to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge (Warm Winter Wishes) an Wednesday Challenge (Wrap it up).

I hope you enjoyed today’s projects and will return soon for more inspiration.

See you,

Zsofi

Halloween Card Series 2018 – Day 9 Announcement

halloween_2018_FB

Hello everyone,

Happy Halloween to all of you who celebrate! Today I am sharing with you my last card in the Halloween Card Series this year. I enjoyed creating every single project I showed you, and had so many more ideas and stamps to feature, just ran out of time. Next year 😉

Today’s card is special as it comes with an announcement: I am thrilled to join the fabulous Design Team at LDRS Creative as of November! To celebrate this lovely news, I made my last Halloween cards using some goodies from LDRS Creative.

HalloweenCardSeries_LDRS_zsm01IG

I started with stamping the cute witch from the PolkaDoodles Winne Magic stamp set using LDRS Creative Raven Hybrid on Bristol Smooth cardstock. I used Zig Clean Colour Real Brush markers to colour the image. I stamped the sentiment from the SSS Handwritten Halloween stamp set and also some bats in the background.

HalloweenCardSeries_LDRS_zsm03

I used the LDRS Creative Build a card Punkin die set to make a pumpkin shaped card. I die cut the coloured panel with the smaller pumpkin die and inked up the edges with Black Soot distress ink. I did not do any masking, I simply went as close to the image as I could with the ink blending tool.

HalloweenCardSeries_LDRS_zsm04

Then I created the card base from folded white cardstock and the bigger die. I die cut another piece from orange cardstock (one layer only) and adhered it to the card front. I die cut the leaves and swirls from green cardstock and added a bit of shading with my ink blending tool which still had a black ink on it.

HalloweenCardSeries_LDRS_zsm02

I used the small embellishment die to cut a black and white piece, stamped a spider from the SSS stamp set and popped it up on the card. A few added details with a Sakura Glitter pen and a black glaze pen and my cute pumpkin shaped Halloween card is finished.

I will link this up to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Anything goes.

I hope you enjoyed the series and it helped you to get in the Halloween mood. From now on you will see mostly Christmas inspiration here, so if you feel like, just subscribe to make sure you will not miss any of my posts. Thanks for spending the last 9 days with me and I wish to see you soon again!

Happy crafting,

Zsofi

Newton’s Nook Designs August Release – Day #3

NND_ReleaseIcon_Aug18

Hello Everyone,

It is Day 3 of the sneak peeks for the August Release for Newton’s Nook Designs. Today we are showcasing the Hoppy Halloween stamp and die set and a fabulous new stencil Flying Bats (you will see me using it tomorrow).

All new products will be available on 17th August 2018 at the Newton’s Nook Designs online store and other craft stores.

Hoppy_Halloween_zsm01IG

For my card today I stamped all the cute bunnies from the stamp set on Bristol Smooth paper with Versafine Black Onyx ink and clear heat embossed them. I used my Zig Clean Colour Real Brush pens to add colour to all, and die cut them with the coordinating dies.

Hoppy_Halloween_zsm05

I prepared an alcohol inked background to create a spooky night sky and white heat embossed a sentiment on it. To create the scene I die cut the cloud border from black and white cardstock and layered them on top of each other slightly offset. I love the look I got this way.

Hoppy_Halloween_zsm02

I did the same trick with a stitched border die for the bottom of my scene. I also die cut the grassy border from green cardstock.

Hoppy_Halloween_zsm04

I made the scene dimensional by adhering some elements flat and some popped up with 3D foam tape. A bit of glossy accent I could not resist to add to the candies.

Newton’s Nook Designs August Release – Day #2

NND_ReleaseIcon_Aug18

Hello Everyone,

It is Day 2 of the sneak peeks for the August Release for Newton’s Nook Designs. Today we are revealing the Fabulous Frenchies stamp and die set, which is the cutest ever. All dog lovers will love this!

NND_Aug18_FabulousFrenchies

All new products will be available on 17th August 2018 at the Newton’s Nook Designs online store and other craft stores.

Fabulous_frenchies_zsm_01IG

For my card I made a lot of masking. I wanted to create a scene with a lot of dogs celebrating together. So I stamped and masked off the dog with the hat in the front, then the 2 other dogs on the sides and lastly the 2 in the back row. When all the dogs were stamped, I covered them all with their masks and stamped the balloons. I covered those too as I wanted an ink blended background: first I sponged Mowed Lawn Distress ink through a grassy hillside stencil (MFT), then Tumbled Glass Distress ink for the sky.

Fabulous_frenchies_zsm_04

To add more texture I added white pigment ink through the cloudy sky stencil and clear heat embossed it. After it cooled down, I also heat embossed the sentiment from the Birthday Essentials stamp set with WOW Primary Blue Tang embossing powder. I repeated the heat embossing for a darker result as I was heat embossing on a heat embossed area.

Fabulous_frenchies_zsm_02

After removing the masks I coloured the scene with Zig Clean Colour Real Brush pens. I made the noses and eyes of the dogs shin with a black glaze pen and a white gel pen.

Fabulous_frenchies_zsm_03

When the scene was ready, I matted it with a black rectangle and adhered it to a white top folding card base.

Newton’s Nook Designs 5 year celebration – Day 3

NND_July18_5yr

Hello Everyone,

It is day 3 of the reveals of the gorgeous July release at Newton’s  Nook Designs. Today there are 2 sets being in the spotlight:

NND_July18_Sharks&Flamingos

Shark frenzy

shark_frenzy_zsm_IG.jpg

As soon as I saw this stamp set I had in mind to change things up and after colouring the images, I cut it up to pieces. It was a hard decision, but the idea I had I mind was to let them peek through a port-hole from all angles.

shark_frenzy_zsm_03

So I die cut a Porthole frame from Lawn Fawn from teal cardstock and started gluing the shark-pieces all around. When I was happy with it, I went over the edges with a black marker to look more finished. I used 3D foam tape to pop it up on a vellum circle and stamped the sentiment with black Staz-on ink in the middle.

shark_frenzy_zsm_01

I chose a coordinating patterned paper as a background and adhered the shark frame. I embellished the little holes with silver pearls.

shark_frenzy_zsm_02

Flamingo flock

flamingo_flock_zsm_IG

These amazing flamingos I stamped on Bristol Smooth cardstock with Versafine Black Onyx ink and used clear embossing powder to heat emboss them. Then I used a couple of Zig Clean Colour Real Brush markers to colour them in. The raised edges made it easy to stay in the lines.

flamingo_flock_zsm_03

When it was all coloured, I took a stitched rectangle die and die cut the panel with it. I stamped the sentiment on a vellum strip with black Staz-on ink and wrapped it around the flamingo panel.

flamingo_flock_zsm_01

I gave it a dark grey stitched mat and a thin yellow one too, to make it more dimensional, before I mounted it all on a white card base.

Beary good time – IPC#75

2017_BlogHeader_x2Hello Everyone,

It is Monday again, time for a new Inky Paws Challenge #75. The theme this time is Cute Animals.

29598339_10155904950186311_5102460263573959830_n

IPC75_zsm01_IG

For my card today I used the recently released Papa bear stamp and die set. I stamped, coloured an die cut the images using Zig Clean Colour Real brush markers. I used Bristol Smooth cardstock as I find it helps the blending of the Zig markers. After die cutting them I added some white gel pen details, used a black glaze pen on their eyes and also some Tonic Nuvo Drops (walnut) on their noses for more dimension.

IPC75_zsm01_04

Until they were drying I worked on the background. I started with sponging Squeezed Lemonade distress ink on Bristol Smooth cardstock. Then I took the Sunray stencil (MFT) and blended some Wild Honey and Mustard seed Distress inks. Before removing the stencil I sprayed Tsukineko Shimmer Mist for a subtle sparkly effect.

IPC75_zsm01_03

For the waves I blended Salty ocean and Faded Jeans distress inks on Bristol Smooth cardstock and spritzed them with water. I let it dry for 30sec and then I dabbed it off with a paper towel. I blended some more ink and spritzed again. When the panel was dry I die cut 3 waves with a Mama Elephant die set.

IPC75_zsm01_05

I used 3D foam tape to assemble the scene as I wanted it to have a lot of dimension. The sentiment is from the Aloha Newton stamp set, stamped on the background with black ink.

IPC75_zsm01_06

As a finishing touch I used some yellow jewels from Lucy’s Little Things and scattered them around the images.

IPC75_zsm01_02

I hope you got inspired and will participate in this lovely Inky Paws Challenge #75. You have 2 weeks to link up your projects to be eligible for the prize: one random winner will get a 20 USD gift certificate to the Newton’s Nook Designs online store.
