Sweet Treat Blog Hop – Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

I am so excited to be part of the 9th, annual Sweet Treats Blog Hop by Newton’s Nook Designs. The Design Team is hopping along today to share some great Sweet Treats – just in time for Valentine’s day! Make sure you scroll down to the bottom of this post to see the whole list and hop along and comment for a chance to win!

This year I decorated some chocolate boxes to give away some pralines to my loved ones. I made 2 versions, one with a cat, one with a dog.

I started with stamping and colouring Newton’s Heart and Puppy Heart stamp sets using Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers: BG9, BG7, BG5, BG4, BG3, BG1, BG05, BT3, BT2, BT1, BT05, MG5, MG4, MG3, MG2, FS6. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I black heat embossed the sentiments directly in the hearts.

Then I used the Circle Frames die set to cut the base for my choco boxes: the biggest scalloped circle was the perfect size. I chose patterned paper from the Love and Chocolate and Love and Woofs paper pads.

For the top I used the stitched circle and cut it from patterned paper as the base. Then I added a smaller scalloped circle cut from vellum before popping up the images with 3D foam squares.

As a finishing touch, I added glossy accents to the noses.

Sweet Treats Blog Hop with Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

The Newton’s Nook Designs Team is hopping along today to share some great Sweet Treats – just in time for Valentine’s Day! I am thrilled to be part of the the 5th annual Sweet Treats Blog Hop, it is such a fun event! Make sure you scroll down to the bottom of this post to see the whole list and hop along and comment for a chance to win!

What is best on the Day of Love than a nicely prepared breakfast for our other half? I love to pamper my husband with a treat like this. My project today consists of a little love note, a tag, a funny donuts topper and a little chocolate box.

I started with colouring a bunch of images from Newton’s Sweetheart, Love bites and Love and Chocolate sets. I used Copic markers and then cut each image out with their coordinating dies.

For the love note i die cut the postage edge rectangle from the Frameworks die set from white cardstock. I added a strip of gingham patterned paper (Sunny Studio) and a thin strip of green glitter cardstock. I stamped the sentiment from the Love and Chocolate set in black and adhered a die cut Love above it from the Darling hearts die set. The cute kitty couple i popped up with 3D foam squares.

For the tag i die cut a stitched white tag (Lawn Fawn), added a bit of gingham paper to the bottom, stamped the sentiment on the top and mounted the milk drinking kitties with 3D foam squares. I attached it to a pink gingham ribbon with white twine, i love how it matched the milk bottle!

The donut topper i created with a banner die from the Frames and flags die set, folded it in half and added a mini gingham fishtail in between the layers. I attached it to a toothpick, stamped a sentiment from the Love bites stamp set and embellished it with two little donuts. Isn’t it the cutest?

And finally the chocolate box i created with a Lawn Fawn die from aqua shimmer cardstock, added vellum to the window and stamped the sentiment from the Love and Chocolate set using Staz-on Black ink. I coloured the hearts from the back of the vellum using a pink Copic marker and embellished the little box with the die cut bonbons. I put our favourite Milka bits in, yummy!

I admit that this was the first time to try jellybeans (Haribo) and I am totally hooked. Now I have to hide all from myself 🙂
