Happy Father’s Day – Lawn Fawn

Hello Everyone,

It is Father’s Day today and even though my husband is away for work still, I created a cute card for him which he will get as soon as he comes home in July. I used Lawn Fawn stamps and dies to create this summer themed daddy card.

First I created the background with the Simple stripes portrait backdrop die and coloured cardstock. I used kraft and 2 blues and I had enough striped to create 3 card bases.

Then I stamped the little boats from the Smooth sailing set using Jelllyfish premium ink, which is alcohol marker friendly. Then I used Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers to colour them: EB4, RB2, RB1, RB05, TB5, TB3, BT2, BT1, BG3, BG1, BG05. As the ink is light, it totally works for no-line colouring. I cut the boats with their coordinating dies.

I die cut a Stitched rectangle frame from heavy weight white cardstock and cut a piece of vellum as background for the boats. I used black Staz-on ink to stamp the sentiment and also the birds. I used the Smooth Sailing and Dad+ me stamp sets. I adhered the boats and popped up the frame with 3D foam squares. The distance mutes the striped background even further but gives the feel of water still.

It was very hard not to use any embellishments, but it is for my man, so I skipped it. Although I was really tempted to put some clear shimmer on the sheets.

I will upload this card to the Lawnfawnatics Challenge #126 and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Add a sentiment.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card and will pop in again soon. I will share some extra tips on my Instagram, so it is worth to follow me there too.

See you,

Happy Father’s Day – Heffy Doodle

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to another edition of my Perfect Combos series for Heffy Doodle. As Father’s Day is on the corner, I wanted to show you a fun design to celebrate the daddies.  I used stamps and dies from the latest release, let me guide you through the process.

First I created a cute boat using the Boats and Barns die set. I used Heffy Doodle cardstock and shaded the pieces a little with some Distress Oxide ink blending. I assembled it and used the Classic Sentiments to stamp the main message on the boat itself.

Then I created the background: I inkblended a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide ink and use the Simple sunburst stencil with Mustard Seed Distress Oxide ink to add the sunrays. Before removing the stencil I have spritzed the panel with Avery Elle Shimmer spritz for a subtle sparkle.

I also die cut a scrap piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock with a Breaking Waves banner die and used Salty Ocean Distress Oxide to give it some colour. I added some water and diluted ink splatters for a textured look.

It would have looked gorgeous on its own, but I wanted some cute passengers on this boat. So I stamped and coloured 3 funny seagulls from the You go, gull stamp set using Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. The list of colours I used are: OR3, BO1, OR05, BG6, BG3, BG1, BG05. I die cut them with their coordinating dies and assembled the card.

As a finishing touch I added another sentiment above the seagull captain, used a black glaze pen on their eyes and added glossy accents to their beaks.

I wish you enjoyed my card today and share with us in our Facebook group if I inspired you. Follow me on Instagram if you like my cards, your support means so much to me! Thank you!

See you soon,

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release – Day 4

Hello Everyone,

It is the last day of the June Release Reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs! We have 2 roundabout sets for you today, all summer themed: BBQ Roundabout and Seashell Roundabout both coordinate perfectly with the Circle Frames and Banner Trio die sets (previously released).

All new products will be available on Friday, 18/06/2021!

CARD 1

I stamped and coloured the image from the BBQ Roundabout stamp set with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. The colours used are the following – DR5, DR3, DR1, AP3, AP1, BO4, BO3, BO1, GY2, CT4, CT1, IG10, IG6, DG4, DG3, DG2, AG2, AG1, LG1, BG5, BG2, BG1, EB3, MB3, MB1. I used a Circle Frames die to cut it out.

For th background I chose a super cute paper from the Doodlebug Bar-be-cute pad. I popped up the scalloped circle with 3D foam squares.

I white heat embossed 2 sentimens on black cardstock, one from the BBQ Roundabout set and one from the Mom & Dad stamp set. I cut them out with a stitched banner die from Banner Trio and popped them up with 3D foam squares.

I finished the card with a black glaze pen, I used it on the ants and seeds. I also added glossy accents to some parts of the images so they have a shiny finish.

CARD 2

For my second card I wanted to try something different: I created an alcohol ink background on Glossy cardstock with the following inks: Indigo, Denim, Cobalt, Aquamarine, Laguna, Glacier, Aqua. I used a blending felt pad and blending solution to blend the colours and added drops of Pentart Media Ink too for the shimmer.

When it was dry I die cut it with the scalloped circle die from Circle Frames and white heat embossed the Seashell Roundabout stamp on it.

I added a Blue Violet cardstock strip to a 4,25*4,25 inches square notecard, adhered the circle panel and added a thin muslin ribbon. I clear heat embossed a sentiment on a blue banner (Banner Trio die set) and popped it up with 3D foam squares. I used two clear gems as embellisment.

Newton’s Nook Designs April Release – Day 4

Hello Everyone,

Today is the last day of the Newton’s Nook Designs April Release reveals. If you are a Newton fan like me, then I am sure you were waiting for what he is up to this month. He is celebrating friendship with a cute little stamp/die set.

And as Mother’s and Father’s Day are approaching fast too, there are 2 new mini sets for the occasion. All new products will be available tomorrow, Friday 12/04!

NEWTON’S BIRDHOUSE

I stamped and coloured Newton with his bird friends and some additional birds and hearts too. I used the coordinating dies to cut them all out and set them aside until I worked on the background.

On a white card base i masked off a strip and applied Salty ocean and Tumbled glass distress oxide inks. I was longing to try the new Hardwood stencil just to add texture, and although it is a wooden one, I used it to add more interest to my sky, so I used the same ink colours as before. After removing the stencil, I went back with the sponge applicator to make the lines smoother. I love the soft effect I get this way.

I white heat embossed a sentiment from the set on a black banner (MFT Blueprints 7) and used 3D foam squares to mount the images and the banner.

As a finishing touch I added clear shimmer to the hearts and covered them with glossy accents, just as the beaks of the nightingales.

MOTHER’S DAY

The sentiment is so pretty on its own, that i simply heat embossed it with gold embossing powder on Bristol Smooth cardstock and quickly coloured the flowers with ZIG Clean Color Real Brush markers.

I die cut the panel with the scalloped rectangle frame die from the Frameworks die set and cut an extra 2 frames from Guava cardstock. I adhered the frames with liquid glue on top of each other for a dimensional look.

For the background I used the fabulous Floral lace stencil with Worn Lipstick and Spun Sugar Distress Oxide inks but before removing the stencil I spritzed it with Tsukineko Shimmer Spritz. As a finishing touch I added Nuvo glitter drops to the center of the flowers.

FATHER’S DAY

I had a ready background I made earlier with Nuvo Shimmer powders which i die cut with my favourite postage stamp die from Frameworks. Then I used the Frames Squared die set to partially die cut a rounded stitched rectangle as my focal panel.

I used Kaleidacolor Blue Breeze to stamp the ombre sentiment and using my stamp positioner I also stamped it with Versamark ink so I could cover it with clear embossing powder and heat set it. I love the shiny raised look!

I used my clear shimmer pen to add some sparkle to the fish and water droplets and matted the panel with a blue violet cardstock before mounting it on the background with 3D foam squares.

You are my favourite

Hello Everyone,

I did not have time to share with you the card I made for my sweet husband for Father’s Day – it can actually serve as an everyday card too. I used the MFT Sketch Challenge #389 as inspiration for the layout.

MFTsketch389_01

I started with die cutting a white stitched rectangle and die cut the You are my favourite die on the right side. Then I popped up the panel on an aqua striped patterned paper using 3D foam tape.

MFTsketch389_05

I stamped some of the bears from the Bitty Bears stamp set, coloured them with Copics and cut them with the coordinating dies. I mounted them on the background using 3D foam squares. I added some extra shimmer and shine to the balloon and present the bears are holding with a Tonic Aqua Shimmer pen and glossy accents.

MFTsketch389_03

I also used a black glaze pen on the eyes and noses, the latter got a bit of glossy accent to for more dimension.

MFTsketch389_02

The sentiment is from the All About Mom stamp set, white heat embossed on a thin strip of chocolate cardstock.

MFTsketch389_04

I will link this up to the MFT Sketch Challenge #389. I hope you like my card and will return soon for more inspiration.

See you,

Zsofi

Father’s Day Cards

Hello Everyone,

In Hungary we do not have officially Father’s Day which is so unjust in my opinion. So I plan to celebrate with my kids and the heroes of our family on Saturday. I made already 2 cards which my kids can give them: one for grandpa and one for daddy. The layout was inspired by the current MFT Sketch Challenge #388.

MFT_fathersday_05

MFT_fathersday_02

I stamped the images from the Giraffing me crazy set, coloured them with Copics and cut them out with the coordinating dies.

MFT_fathersday_07

I cut 2 simple white tags and glued the giraffes on them. On one card I placed them in a way that they look like hugging each other. So cute!

MFT_fathersday_03

I heat embossed the chosen sentiments (one from the stamp set, the other from the More Essential sentiments set) in white on dark cardstock scraps and cut some banners. I adjusted the length with the partial die-cutting technique.

MFT_fathersday_04

MFT_fathersday_06

I chose patterned papers as backgrounds and popped up the tags with 3D foam tape. I embellished the cards with a little enamel heart on each. I could not resist adding google eyes to the giraffes and used glossy accent on their dots for a special look.

I hope you like it and will return soon for more inspiration.
