Pink & Main and WOW Collaboration Blog Hop

Hello Everyone,

I am so excited today as I am part of a wonderful Blog Hop between Pink and Main and WOW. I love their embossing powders, I actually own quite a few of them as their price point and size is just perfect.

42090699_10156971156679683_5272965803526848512_n

Before diving in the card I created for the occasion, let me show you how I swatch my embossing powders.

WOW_P&M_BlogHop_zsm01

I cut a bunch of Stitched Arch tags from Neenah White 110lb cardstock and used the Pattern maker stamp set to make my swatches. I inked it up with clear embossing ink and poured the different embossing powders on it. I used coffee filters to catch the remaining powders, in this way I could funnel it back to the jars. I heated them with a heat tool and used a ring binder to hold the tags together. For the white powders I used black cardstock.

WOW_P&M_BlogHop_zsm02

And now lets get in the details of my card.

WOW_P&M_BlogHop_zsm03

I stamped, coloured a bunch of images from the Eskimo kisses stamp set and used their coordinating dies to cut them out. I wanted to make a mini scene in a picture frame, so I die cut a few Cloudy Frames and stacked them together using liquid glue. I covered the top layer with clear embossing ink and poured WOW Metalline Dark Blue embossing powder on it. I heated it with my heat tool and repeated the process 3 times until I got an even and quite thick layer. It looks like a metallic chipboard frame in this way, so fancy!

WOW_P&M_BlogHop_zsm05

I cut a light blue cardstock rectangle to back the frames and also used a Scalloped Waves die to cut my snowbanks from white glitter cardstock. If you don’t have glitter cardstock, you could easily make your own using embossing glitters from WOW!

WOW_P&M_BlogHop_zsm04

I assembled my scene and popped up the dog and the eskimo with 3D foam squares. For the background I used a patterned paper from the Be brave paper pad. I heat embossed the sentiments from the Wishes stamp set starting with the big “Wishes”. I used WOW White Puff embossing powder to get a snowy look. The texture is amazing and touch of it is so unique too.

WOW_P&M_BlogHop_zsm07

Then I heat embossed “sending” and “warm” around it using WOW Opaque Bright White embossing powder. I adhered the whole panel to a white top folding card base and the card is finished. I love how all the special effects make the scene so complete. And it was so easy to achieve with embossing powders.

WOW_P&M_BlogHop_zsm06

I hope you like my card and got inspired. Make sure to hop along with both Design Teams, here is the full list of participants:

Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release – Day 4

NND_ReleaseIcon_Oct18

Hello Everyone,

Today is the last day of the sneak peaks of the Holiday Release at Newton’s Nook Designs. We saved the funniest and cutest for the last day, we are showcasing the Happy Howl-idays, Slothy Christmas stamp and die sets along with 2 punny new mini sets: Mistle Toad and Fleece Navidad.

NND_OCT18_SlothyChristmas.png

NND_OCT18_HappyHowlidaysNND_OCT18_MistleToadNND_OCT18_FleeceNavidad

All the new products will be available on 19/10/2018 at the Newton’s Nook Designs online store  and other craft suppliers too.

SLOTHY CHRISTMAS

NND_Slothy_christmas_zsm01IG

I started with stamping and colouring the cute sloth from the Slothy Christmas set using Copic markers. I added some fur details with a grey pencil afterwards, and used a white gel pen to add some highlights. I used the coordinating die set to cut it out.

NND_Slothy_christmas_zsm02

I die cut a stitched rectangle from a striped patterned paper and backed it with a light blue cardstock. I die cut an oval window which I covered with pine branches (Pines and Holly die set)  die cut from green cardstock several times. I also die cut a bow from red glitter fun foam using the same die set.

NND_Slothy_christmas_zsm03

I used 3D foam tape to mount the frame and the sloth hanging with the help of a silver string. I stamped the sentiment under it with red ink. I covered the candy cane with glossy accents and added clear shimmer to the Santa hat. I also emphasized the eyes with a black glaze pen.

NND_Slothy_christmas_zsm04

HAPPY HOWL-IDAYS

NND_Happy_Howlidays_zsm01IG

I stamped, coloured and die cut the cute dogs with their coordinating dies. I love that the dies cut the little holes in between the 2 dogs, so it all looks so finished and worth the investment in the dies. Scissors would never do the same perfect cut!

NND_Happy_Howlidays_zsm04

I wanted to create a nice snowy scene for my dogs so I ink blended a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock with blues and pinks. I added Snowflake paste through the Petite Snow stencil and let it dry. I love this paste as it really looks like snow after drying.

NND_Happy_Howlidays_zsm03

Meanwhile I die cut 3 birch trees using the Forest Scene Builder die set an also 2 grassy borders from glitter white cardstock using the Land border die set.

NND_Happy_Howlidays_zsm02

I white heat embossed a sentiment on a strip of vellum and after assembling the scene, I wrapped it around the top part of the card. Then a bit of glossy accents on the antlers, white gel pen details on the cheeks and scarf and a bit of black gaze pen on the eyes.

MISTLE TOAD

NND_Mistletoad_zsm01IG

After stamping, colouring and die cutting this cutie, I decided to make a tag. I die cut a white tag with the Fancy Edges Tag die set, a reinforcer from red glitter cardstock and used a piece of patterned paper to cover the bottom part.

NND_Mistletoad_zsm03

I stamped the sentiment in black and used 3D foam squares to mount the image.

NND_Mistletoad_zsm02

I added glossy accents to the bow an berries, and a bit of clear shimmer to the leaves. I finished it off with a green-white twine.

FLEECE NAVIDAD

NND_Fleece_navidad_zsm01IG

My approach here was the same as with the cute frog: I wanted to make a tag. I used the same die set for the base, but different embellishments: patterned paper for the top and silver glitter paper to the bottom.

NND_Fleece_navidad_zsm03

I stamped, coloured and die cut the sheep, added it with 3D foam squares and stamped the sentiment above it with red ink. I also stamped  the snowflake from the set with silver Delicata pigment ink. I added a white twine to it, glossy accents on the scarf and clear shimmer on the hat.

NND_Fleece_navidad_zsm04

I wanted to show you how you can turn a tag into a card as well so I made a duplicate of this tag and matted it with a red tag slightly off set before adding the twine. I chose a snowflake patterned paper as background and the card is ready. Easy-peasy and you have a matching card for your tag.

Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release – Day 3

NND_ReleaseIcon_Oct18

Hello Everyone,

We are halfway through the sneak peeks of the Holiday Release at Newton’s Nook Designs. But there are still plenty of cute stamps and dies to reveal. Today we are showcasing the adorable Holiday Stockings stamps (coordinates perfectly with the Stylish stockings die set released last year) and the absolutely amazing Ornamental wishes stamp set and Ornament Shaker die set.

NND_OCT18_OrnamentalWishes.png

NN1810S09_HolidayStockings_PKG

All the new products will be available on 19/10/2018 at the Newton’s Nook Designs online store an other craft suppliers too.

HOLIDAY STOCKINGS

NND_Holiday_stockings_zsm01IG

For my card I stamped and coloured 3 of the stockings with Copics. I used the Stylish stockings die set to cut them out and also cut a top piece from a special fluffy white fun foam. I adhered the tops to the socks with liquid glue. I love how cozy and warm they get with a little added detail!

NND_Holiday_stockings_zsm02

On a white trip of cardstock I silver heat embossed one of the sentiments from the stamp set and matted the panel with metallic purple cardstock. I also embellished it with 2 scalloped turquoise borders (Sky borders die set).

NND_Holiday_stockings_zsm04

I adhered this to an A2 sized piece of patterned paper from Doodlebug. I chose the paper to match my colouring. Then I used 3D foam squares to mount the stockings and added a subtle sparkle to them with a clear shimmer pen.

NND_Holiday_stockings_zsm03

Very simple yet striking design, perfect for men too.

ORNAMENT SHAKER

NND_Ornamental_shaker_zsm01IG

I started with creating a shaker ornament from blue glitter cardstock, a piece of acetate and thick fun foam. I used the Double Sided Adhesive foam which is very thick yet so easy to die cut! Perfect for shaker cards, I have never tried anything like that before! I filled the shaker with purple, blue and iridescent sequins and jewels, and added a bit of confetti too for the festive look.

NND_Ornamental_shaker_zsm04

I chose a purple patterned paper as the backing, which matched the patterned paper I chose as background for the card. I die cut the top part of the ornament from silver metallic cardstock and added silver twine to it .

NND_Ornamental_shaker_zsm02

I stamped a sentiment from the Sentiments of the Season stamp set on the bottom of the patterned paper, and adhered a die cut Christmas above it. I used the new Holiday sentiments die set and silver metallic cardstock.

NND_Ornamental_shaker_zsm03

I matted the whole panel with metallic purple cardstock and foam mounted it on a top folding white notecard. I love the simplicity of this design and how it allows the pretty shaker ornament to be the star. Such a unique die set! It would make beautiful tree ornaments or gift tags as well, lovely opportunity for holiday crafting with kids!

Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release – Day 2

NND_ReleaseIcon_Oct18

Hello Everyone,

I hope you have enjoyed yesterday’s reveals of the Holiday Release from Newton’s Nook Designs. Today we have even more fun for you, 2 extremely cute stamp sets with their coordinating dies:

NND_OCT18_CarolingNewton

NND_OCT18_ANutcrackerSqueak

All the new products will be available on 19/10/2018 at the Newton’s Nook Designs online store an other craft suppliers too.

CAROLING NEWTON

NND_Caroling_Newton_zsm01IG

For my card I created the background first by sponging Peacock Feathers Distress ink on Bristol Smooth cardstock. I made it lighter toward the bottom to have an ombre effect. Then I placed the new Music stencil over the panel and sponged more Peacock Feathers ink over it to get a textured, tone-on-tone background. hen it was dry, I die cut it with the postage stamp die from the Frameworks die set.

NND_Caroling_Newton_zsm04

I stamped and coloured the singing kitties and mice on Copic friendly white cardstock, coloured them with alcohol markers an die cut them with their coordinating dies. To set the scene I also die cut a piece of white glitter paper with the postage stamp die to give the impression of snow.

NND_Caroling_Newton_zsm02

I adhered the carolling critters on the snowy background using 3D foam squares. The sentiment is a die cut from red glitter cardstock, I used the Holiday greetings die set.

NND_Caroling_Newton_zsm03

As a finishing touch I added a bit of clear shimmer to the caps and scarves, emphasized some details with glossy accents and made the caps fluffy with a Marvy Snow Marker (I added a bit of liquid carefully and heated it with a heat gun until it puffed up).

THE NUTCRACKER SQUEAK

My daughter is 7 years old and she loves cartoons. One of her favourites is the Barbie version of the Nutcracker story. I was smiling when I saw this stamp/die set as I knew I wanted to make a special shadow box card for her with it. For the technical part of how to make a shadow box card, I advise you to watch Jennifer McGuire’s tutorial.

NND_nutcracker_squeak_zsm01IG.jpg

I stamped, coloured and die cut all the images from The Nutcracker Squeak set, I used Copics to add colour. Then I made my shadow box card using white card stock. For the inside I die cut a stitched rectangle from some aqua patterned paper and die cut some pine trees from white cardstock using the Forest Scene builder set. I quickly added colour to them with my Copics, making sure to leave some white edges to have the illusion of snow on the trees. I also stamped a sentiment from the Sentiments of the Season stamp set.

NND_nutcracker_squeak_zsm01bIG

I used the Land Border dies to cut a stitched slope from white glitter cardstock and adhered it to the background. I popped up my mice with thin foam squares on this. Then I added the little mouse girl and the trumpet on the second layer of my shadow box, finally I finished building the dimensional scene with the present and the drum being on the top layer.

NND_nutcracker_squeak_zsm03

I used my usual tricks to make the images even cuter: glossy accents, clear shimmer on the clothes, a black glaze pen on the eyes and white gel pen dots on the cheeks. I love that it looks like a little theatre scene!

NND_nutcracker_squeak_zsm02

The front of the card I kept simple. I had a stitched rectangle cut from the same patterned paper I used inside, matted with metallic red cardstock. I created a snow globe using the Snow Globe Shaker die set and specialty cardstocks.

NND_nutcracker_squeak_zsm01aIG

I adhered it all flat and placed the ballerina mouse in the middle. I added a white embossed sentiment (from a new sentiment set which you will see in details soon) and a few snowflake sequins embellished with iridescent jewels.

Newton’s Nook Designs Holiday Release – Day 1

NND_ReleaseIcon_Oct18

Hello Everyone,

I am super excited to share with you the first sneak peeks of the big holiday release from Newton’s Nook Designs! It is gonna be a fabulous week, full of great new stamps, dies and stencils. All new products will be available on 19th October 2018.

NND_OCT18_Stencils_ALL3

NND_OCT18_Forest&GreetingsDies

NND_OCT18_WinterMemories

Today we are showcasing the new Winter memories stamp and coordinating die set, along with 3 new and super unique stencils, the Forest Scene builder die set and the fantastic Holiday Greetings die set! So much fun for Day 1 already!

NND_Winter_memories_zsm01IG

For my card today I created a Distress Oxide background using Blueprint Sketch and Salty Ocean oxide inks. I always use Bristol Smooth cardstock as they blend like butter on this due to its special coating. I spritzed the panel with water, dabbed it off with a dry paper towel after 30secs and sprayed it with Tsukineko Shimmer spritz for a subtle sparkle. When the panel was dry, I added Ranger White Texture Paste through the Evergreens stencil and set it aside to dry. I made sure to wash my stencil immediately with soapy warm water.

20181012_110825

Meanwhile I stamped the cute images from the Winter memories stamp set using Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

NND_Winter_memories_zsm03

I love the little holes the dies cut in certain areas, such a great detail and make the images look so fancy!

NND_Winter_memories_zsm04

I used the Land border dies to cut two snowbanks from textured white cardstock and used 3D foam tape to adhere them to the dry stencilled background. I mounted the die cut images too and white heat embossed a sentiment on the top part of my scene.

I carved out time to say…

Hello Everyone,

We have a beautiful Fall here in Budapest, I enjoy the weather so much with all the pretty autumn colours. The trees look magnificent with their colourful crowns. All the yellows, oranges inspired me to create this Lawn Fawn card today afternoon, while my boy had a nap and my daughter was watching a cartoon.

Lawnfawnatics38_card2_zsm01IG

I started with stamping a bunch of images from the Pick of the patch and the Hedgehugs stamp sets. I coloured them with Copic markers and used their coordinating dies to cut them out.

Lawnfawnatics38_card2_zsm05

Then I made a Distress Ink blended background on Distress Watercolour cardstock. I used Scattered Straw, Wild Honey, Carved Pumpkin and Gathered Twigs. I added some water and diluted distress ink splatters for more interest. I stamped the sentiment on this panel also using a brown ink.

Lawnfawnatics38_card2_zsm03

For the scene I had in my head, I needed a few more elements: a Spooky fence from brown cardstock, a Happy Fall sentiment from white (I added distress ink after die cutting) and a Reverse Stitched Scallop Rectangle frame from special  metallic cardstock.

Lawnfawnatics38_card2_zsm04

After assembling the scene I added clear shimmer to some of the pumpkins with a Tonic Aqua shimmer pen. I also emphasized the carved pumpkins with a black glaze pen. A touch of glossy accent I added to the stems and scattered a few sparkling orange and dark brown mini sequins across the card.

Lawnfawnatics38_card2_zsm02

I will upload this project to the Lawnfawnatics #38 challenge Awesome Autumn.

I hope you like my card inspiration today and will pop in again soon for more.

See you,

Zsofi

MFT World Card Making Day Challenge

Hello Everyone,

This is my second post today as I managed t find some extra crafting time this afternoon. I really wanted to participate in the MFT World Cardmaking Day Challenge, where they gave us 3 tasks. I made the following 3 cards.

CARD 1 – ROYGBIV

I created a stencilled sky background using Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide and the Cloud stencil from MFT. I die cut the rainbow die from pastel coloured cardstocks and adhered them to the background. I also die cut a stitched cloud from the same die set from satin pearl cardstock. Then the Hello die from silver glitter cardstock.

MFT_WCMD_zsm1IG

I stamped and coloured the cute unicorn from the BB Magical Unicorns set. I used Copics, a white gel pen and a black glaze pen to add some details.

MFT_WCMD_zsm01a

I also covered the hair with Tonic Aqua Shimmer pen for a subtle sparkle. After die cutting it, I popped it up on the cloud an adhered them to the card base using 3D foam squares.

MFT_WCMD_zsm01b

CARD 2 – Clean and Simple

I had a pretty pink and pearl alcohol ink background from a playing session which I wanted to use. I cut a 4.25×4.25 square from it and ran the Happy Birthday Block die over it.

MFT_WCMD_zsm02IG

I die cut the same die using white satin pearl cardstock and paper pieced them together on a black shimmer rectangle which I have adhered to a white note card.

MFT_WCMD_zsm02c

To finish it of I added a thin black strip with a white embossed sentiment on it (Essential sentiments stamp set).

MFT_WCMD_zsm02b

CARD 3 – Flower Power

I had another pretty alcohol ink background waiting to be used. I cut a rectangle from it and matted it with black cardstock before adhering it at an angle to a white card base. I used the Sketch Challenge #405 as a guide.

MFT_WCMD_zsm03IG

I die cut a flower (Stitched Bloom die set) from white, black and alcohol inked cardstock scraps. I layered them on top of each other slightly offset.

MFT_WCMD_zsm03c

I also die cut 2 stitched leaves from white cardstock and white heat embossed a sentiment on a thin strip of black cardstock.

MFT_WCMD_zsm03d

As a finishing touch I added some white-black enamel dots in the middle of the flower.

MFT_WCMD_zsm03b

I will link these up to the respective challenges, and the last on also to the Sketch Challenge #405

I hope you liked my cards and will pop in again soon.

See you,

Zsofi
