Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Day 4

Hello Everyone,

We have reached the final day of the February Release reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs. We continue the Spring theme with a beautiful floral set called Daffodils and our favourite kitties having a rainy day on Newton’s Rainy Day Trio . They both come with coordinating dies.

All products will be available on Friday, 19/02.

CARD 1

For my card I stamped and coloured the Daffodils with Copics and cut it out with the coordinating dies. I love that it cuts those little holes too, in between the stems and flowers. I also cut another black shadow with the coordinating die and adhered it under the coloured one just a little bit offset so it shows as real shadow. It also adds instant dimension to my flowers.

I die cut a stitched circle from patterned paper using the Circle Frames dies and a slightly bigger green circle with some nesting circle dies from Pink and Main. While I was at die cutting I also cut a purple banner with a Banner Trio die and a scalloped white rectangle with a die from Frames and Flags.

The sentiment I white heat embossed on the banner and created a tone-on-tone textured backgrund using the new Basketweave stencil on the white panel with Texture Paste. I masked off the scalloped edges with Purple Tape but it is not necessary, I just like the way it looks.

After assembling the card as on the picture, I realized that I wanted another sentiment. Therefore I stamped the other one on a pastel yellow circle die cut and tucked it under the flowers. I finished it off with drops of glossy accents on the flower centers and the body of the butterfly.

CARD 2

As always I stamped and coloured the kitties from Newton’s Rainy Day Trio using Copic markers. I went with bright colours, it always cheers me up! I cut them out with their coordinating dies.

To set the scene I created an inkblended background using Salty Ocean and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide inks. Then Using the Raindrops stencil I added the rain: I used Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxides for a gradient look. After removing the stencil I added some diluted ink splatters and sprinkled it all with pearlised water. It gives a subtle shimmer which I love!

I also cut some grass with the Land border dies from white cardstock and added Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxides. I assembled the scene and matted it all with a white postage edge rectangle (Framework).

The sentiment is stamped directly on the background and I added die cut letters in a funky way using the Essential alphabet dies and blue glitter cardstock. I stamped a few music notes in grey and covered the rainboots with glossy accents. This time I used a light grey card base, I think I will need to do this more often in the future.
