Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – Day 1

Hello Everyone,

I have such exciting news, we are starting the January Release reveals today with Newton’s Nook Designs. YAY! It is a small but adorable release, with unique designs and new paper pads. On the first day we are showcasing the cute Puppy Hearts stamp and die set.

All new designs will be available on 20th January.

For my card I stamped and coloured the puppy using Copic markers: W9, W7, W5, W3, W1, W0, BG09, BG57, BG23, BG11. Before die cutting it with its coordinating die, I white heat embossed a sentiment in the middle of the heart. I love when I can incorporate the sentiments in the coloured images!

Then I worked on the background: on Audrey Blue cardstock I used the Woof stencil with Gina K Glitz Glitter gel (Turquoise Sea). While it was drying I did some die cutting using the Heart Frames die set and white and light grey cardstock.

When the background was dry, I assembled the card using 3D foam squares under the dog. I added some black and white twine to the top (I know, I use a lot of twine these days, but I cannot help it, I just love it!) As a finishing touch I used a black glaze pen on the eyes and a drop of glossy accents on the noses.

Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – DAY 1

Hello Everyone,

It is my favourite part of the month, when we start revealing the new release at Newton’s Nook Designs. I hope you are all ready for Spring! Today we are showcasing the adorable Hop to Spring stamp and die set. There are also two fantastic new stencils coming, called Raindrops and Petite Flowers (I will show this in action soon!) All new products will be available on 21st February.

Here is my card for today:

As always I started with stamping and colouring the sweet bunny in the waering can on white cardstock and coloured it with Copic markers. I used the coordinating die to cut it out and I cut a few extra layers of simple white cardstock too, which I adhered under the coloured one until it was as thick as a chipboard.

I stamped the sentiment on a small white tag which I die cut with the Tag times two die set, and attached it to the watering can with twine. It would look so cute as a tag for a bunch of flowers on its own!

For the background I used Nuvo shimmer powders and when it was dry I applied Thermoweb Glitz Glitter gel in Brilliant Blue colour through the Raindrops stencil. Looks gorgeous and dimensional! Lovely!

When it was dry I die cut it with the rounded rectangle from Frames and Flags, cut also some grass with the Land border dies and some clouds with the Sky border dies. The latter I distressed a bit with Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide ink to match the background more.

After assembling the scene, I gave it a grey mat and adhered it to a kraft scalloped rectangle. It was then mounted on a white top folding notecard. A bit of clear shimmer on the can and a drop of glossy accent on the nose and stripe finished off this cute spring card.

Rain or shine – MFT Sketch Challenge

Hello Everyone,

I am super late with my entry for the MFT Sketch Challenge, but yesterday’s rain totally inspired me to make this cute card.

I staretd with stamping the girl with the big umbrella from the Birdie Brown Rain or shine stamp set on Copic friendly cardstock, and coloured her with Copic markers. I used my favourite colour combo for this spring: pink-yellow-aqua.

Then I used the Brick wall stencil on Bristol smooth cardstock and applied gently some Black Soot distress oxide ink. I die cut it with the Essential Cover Up Horizontal die and took the Mini Raindrops stencil and added Brutus Monroe glitter paste over it in teal colour. I love the layered stencil effect! When the panel was dry I added a dark teal mat to it and adhered it to a dark grey note card.

I arranged the girl, the puddle and some die cut clouds (I used the stamp set’s coordinating dies) and also heat embossed a sentiment on a bright pink cardstock strip. Apart from the sentiment – which I popped up with 3D foam squares – everything is adhered flat with liquid glue.

As a finishing touch I added clear shimmer to the umbrella and used a white gel pen to add highlights.

I will link this up to the MFT Sketch Challenge #431.

I hope you got inspired too by the capricious April weather and enjoyed my card tutorial. Please join me later today for the Newton’s Nook Design’s April Reveals Day 2 projects too.

See you,

Zsofi
