Aloha – Pretty Pink Posh

Hello Everyone,

I am back today with another summer card I made as Guest Designer for Pretty Pink Posh. When we were at the Balaton with my kids and the weather was a bit colder and not suitable for them to swim in the lake, my boy loved to spend time with playing in the sand. He rather builds pyramids than castles but I love to sit next to him and work on tunnels or just decorate his buildings. This memory inspired my card.

First I stamped and coloured the images from Summer Friends. I used Spectrum Noir Triblend markers: Fair Skin Blend, Earth Brown Shades, Earth Brown Blend, Ice Blue Blend, Citrus Blend, Gold Brown Blend, Gold Brown Shades. I used some lighter markers from the Spectrum Noir Classique range: CT05 and IB05. I love that with these shades I can get lighter colours. I cut the images with the coordinating dies.

I love to make tags and place them on cards, and the Birthday Circles die set has such a lovely tag which I just simply had to use. I cut it from white cardstock and backed it with a light blue rectangle sandwiching the sand castle in between the layers. I popped up the boy with 3D foam squares and added black and white twine.

For the sentiment I chose the Aloha Shaker die, cut it from gold metallic cardstock and trimmed the words out. It is a way to get more out of your dies. Lovely, isn’t it?

I adhered it at an angle to make it more playful and embellished the tag with some jewels from Citrus Mix.

For the background I cut patterned paper from Craft Consortium Watercolours paper pad, backed it with dark grey cardstock and adhered it to an A2 sized top folding kraft card base. As a finishing touch I used glossy accents on the sunglasses and parts of the T-shirt.

I wish you enjoyed this little cutie and will return next week for more. I also share extra tips on Instagram, which you might want to check out as well.

See you soon,

Newton’s Nook Designs Birthday Release – Day 4

Hello Everyone,

We have an extra day of inspirations as part of the Newton’s Nook Designs Birthday Release week, to increase the festivities. Newton’s Nook Designs is turning 9 years old this month, such a lovely milestone. I have been designing for them for a couple of years now and I must admit, their designs are so unique, exciting and so fun! They surprise me each and every time a new release is coming.

All new products will be available on Friday, 15/07.

For today I chose to feature the Birthday Mice stamp and die set in more masculine colours. I started with stamping the mice with the cheese cake and the little present 2 times, and coloured them with Spectrum Noir Triblend markers: Brown Grey Shades, Brown Grey Blend, Gold Yellow Blend, Citrus Blend, Jade Green Shades, Jade Green Blend, Ice Blue Blend. For the mice I also used some lighter markers: BG1 and BG05. Then I cut everything out with their coordinating dies.

While I was die cutting I also cut a white tag with the Fancy Edges Tag die set and added a bit of Lucky Clover Distress Oxide ink to the bottom of it with a small blending brush. I also cut a decorating edge for the top from blue cardstock and a reinforcer from yellow. I assembled the scene on the tag ad added twine and some clear sequin confetti.

For the background I chose a blue balloon paper from the new Birthday Party paper pad and white heat embossed 2 of the sentiments from the stamp set on black cardstock. I used my trimmer to cut them down to thin strips which run across the card.

I popped up the tag with 3D foam squares and used my usual finishing touches: clear shimmer, black glaze and white gel pens. I also added glossy accents to the hat and candle.

Newton’s Nook Designs Birthday Release – Day 3

Hello Everyone,

We have reached the last day of the Newton’s Nook Designs Birthday Release reveals, but fear not, our favourite kitties and puppies are back on today’s super cute stamp set called Sky High. It comes with coordinating dies too.

All new products will be available on Friday, 15/07.

For my card today I chose the balloon image and coloured it with Spectrum Noir Triblend markers: Brown Grey Blend, Brown Grey Shades, True Blue Shades, True Blue Blend, Dark Red Blend, Pale Pink Shades, Pale Pink Blend, Gold Yellow Blend, Citrus Blend. For the clouds I used an IB05 marker to add some shading, and cut everything out with the coordinating dies.

I kept the background super simple this time, just quickly blended Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink on Bristol Smooth cardstock and spritzed it with water. I dabbed off the water after 30 seconds with a dry paper towel and repeated the process for a fun, textured look. When it was dry, I used my favourite die from Frameworks to cut the panel.

After assembling the scene, I stamped the sentiments from the Sky High and Dog Park stamp sets in black, directly on the sky.

As a finishing touch I used a clear shimmer pen, a black glaze pen and added some highlights with a white gel pen too. I love how the pink-red balloons pop off the blue background!

Newton’s Nook Designs Birthday Release – Day 2

Hello Everyone,

It is Day 2 of the Newton’s Nook Designs Birthday Release, and the Design Team is featuring the new Birthday Oval stamp set, which coordinates perfectly with the previously released Oval Frames die set.

All new products will be available on Friday, 15/07.

I hardly ever make shaker cards but I want to change that so I designed a fun birthday shaker card for today. First I stamped and coloured the Birthday Oval image with Spectrum noir Triblend markers in rainbow order: Dark Red Shades, Dark Red Blend, Orange Blend, Gold Yellow Blend, Citrus Blend, Dull Green Blend, Citrus Green Blend, Blue Turquoise Blend, Blue Turquoise Shades, True Blue Blend, True Blue Shades, Lavender Blend, Bright Pink Shades, Magenta Blend. I also used some lighter markers: CT05, CG05, BT1, BO05, DR05. I stamped the sentiment in the middle of the panel in black and cut the panel with a scalloped oval.

I used the Oval Frames die set to create a frame. I used Purple Tape from Thermoweb to hold 2 dies together, it helps me to even the space between the two. Then I used Distress Oxide inks for a rainbow ink blending trying to follow the colours I used for the image itself: Villainous Potion, Blueprint Sketch, Peacock Feathers, Mowed Lawn, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Candied Apple and Picked Raspberry.

I adhered a piece of acetate on the back and used 3D foam tape to ensure the height for the tiny star sequins and confetti to shake freely. I will share some shaker card tips on my Instagram.

For the background I used a fun patterned paper from the new Birthday Party paper pad, which I matted with a vivid blue cardstock to give it a frame.

Newton’s Nook Designs Birthday Release – Day 1

Hello Everyone,

I am so excited to be part of the Newton’s Nook Designs Birthday Release, they are turning 9 this month and we have a lot of birthday themed goodies for you to show! The first day we are revealing the new Birthday Mice stamp/die set, Bokeh Balloons, a fun new layering stencil set and there will be also a pretty paper pad too, called Birthday Party. Awesome!

All new products will be available on Friday, 15/07.

For my card I used the Bokeh Balloons layering stencil set to create the background on light grey cardstock. I used Distress Oxide inks for this: Scattered Straw for the first layer and Saltwater Taffy for the second layer. Then I cut the panel with the scalloped rectangle die from the Frames and Flags die set.

I stamped the mice with the cupcake, the hat 2 times and also the mouse with the balloon on alcohol friendly white cardstock and coloured them with Spectrum Noir Triblend markers: Brown Grey Shades, Brown Grey Blend, Gold Yellow Blend, Citrus Blend, Pale Pink Shades, Pale Pink Blend. For the mice I also used some lighter markers: BG1 and BG05. Then I cut everything out with their coordinating dies and adhered the little scene on a piece of vellum which I die cut with a rounded rectangle die from Frames and Flags.

I heat embossed the sentiment on a black Speech Bubble and adhered it in place. I used the back of the images to hide the adhesive when mounting the panel on the background.

As a finishing touch I used a white gel pen to add highlights, a black glaze pen to emphasize the eyes and noses, a clear shimmer pen on the balloon and cupcake and a little bit of glossy accents on the sprinkles and hats.

Orchid wishes – Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

I am back today with 2 floral cards using the same stamp set: Orchids from Newton’s Nook Designs. I am not successful with keeping plants alive unfortunately (only the strongest survive), but my mother has orchids in her kitchen window and they look so beautiful. This view was the inspiration for today’s clean and simple designs.

First I stamped and coloured the orchids with Spectrum Noir Triblend markers. Blue orchid: True Blue Shades, True Blue Blend, Jade Green Shades, Citrus Blend, Orange Blend and Aqua Blue Blend.

Purple Orchid: Purple Blend, Orange Blend, Jade Green Shades and Citrus Blend. I used the coordinating die to cut them out.

I wanted some subtle background for both so I used the new Petite Hearts stencil directly on the cardbases. Milled Lavender Distress Oxide for the purple orchid and Hickory Smoke for the blue one. I wasn’t very precise with inkblending, I just wanted some delicate pattern in the background. On the purple one I added some splatters after removing the stencil with my Fintec Pearlescent watercolours. It adds some texture which I love.

I used some oval dies from My Favourite Things to biuld up the focal panels. I wanted the two cards to be slightly different. For the blue one I created some scalloped frames, layered 3 on top of each other for dimension. I adhered it to a vellum panel which I cut with a die from Frames and flags. To adhere the vellum to the cardbase I used drops of liquid glue hidden behind the oval frame.

The sentiment I stamped on a light yellow banner (Frames and Flags), popped it up with 3D foam squares and added some crystals as embellishment.

For the purple card I die cut 3 nestig ovals: green, lavender and white, and layered them on top of each other. I popped up the orchid with 3D foam squares, stamped a sentiment from the Heartfelt Blooms stamp set on a skinny banner die cut with a die from A7 Frames and Banners. I used the same crystals to embellish the focal panel.

As a finishing touch I added a drop of glossy accent on the orange part of the orchids and used a white gel pen on the purple one to add some dot details to the petals.

I hope you enjoyed my card inspiration today and will pop in again soon for more.

See you soon,

Zsofi

Happy Bird-day – Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

I have a fun little shaped birthday card which I created with dies and stamps from Newton’s Nook Designs. It is perfect for summer birthdays.

First I die cut the scalloped heart from the Heart Frames die set using alcohol ink friendly cardstock and stamped the flamingos from the retiring Flirty flamingo stamp set in the middle. This stamp set is available only until stocks last and now it is only 5,99USD!

I used Spectrum Noir Triblend markers to colour the birds. The colours I used are the following:

  • flamingo: Magenta Blend
  • water: Blue Turquoise Blend and Blue Turquoise Shades
  • sky: Citrus Blend, Orange Blend, Bright Pink Shades, Pink Violet Blend, True Blue Shades, True Blue Blend

I used a colourless blender to help the colour transitions and make the lines smoother. When it was done I covered the water with Spectrum Noir Clear Shimmer pen and added some white gel pen highlights. I also stamped the birds on the sky with black ink.

I added a white heat embossed sentiment on a thin black strip to the bottom and adhered the scene on a pink stitched heart (Heart frames die set)

To make it a card, I die cut another pink heart, creased it quarter of an inch from the top and adhered that little flap to the bottom of the front heart. In this way I have enough space for a message. I finished it off with a drop of glossy accent on the beaks.

I hope you enjoyed my card today and will pop in tomorrow for some more fun!

See you,

Zsofi

Newton’s Nook Designs April Release – Day 4

Hello Everyone,

We have reached the last day of the April release reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs. Today we are introducing Heartfelt Butterflies and Hearftelt Blooms. They both coordinate perfectly with the previously released Hearfelt Frames die set and the Banner Trio Die set. There is also going to be a separate sentiment set called Mom&Dad, which is a perfect accessory for the upcoming memorial days.

All new products will be available on Friday, 23rd April, 2021.

CARD 1

For my first card I stamped the Heartfelt Butterflies stamp on alcohol ink friendly cardstock and coloured them with Spectrum Noir Triblend alcohol markers.

This marker is very special as it has all 3 shades in one marker which makes it super easy for a smooth blend and shading. It was the first time for me to use these markers, but I fell in love with them: high quality nibs, beautiful colours and handy for on-the-go colouring too.

I went with the blue shades: True blue Shades, True Blue Blend, Blue Turquoise Blend, Green Turquoise Blend, Ice Blue Blend, Hydrangea Blend, Lavender Blend. (If you want to know more of these markers, check the Spectrum Noir website.)

When it was all pretty and colourful, I die cut it with the Heart Frames scalloped heart die. I also die cut a stitched heart from navy cardstock and a folded banner (Banner Trio die set) from black cardstock. I white heat embossed the sentiment on this and popped it up with 3D foam squares on the coloured piece.

I used a teal patterned paper for the background, added the stitched heart but before adhering the panel to a card base, I wrapped some ribbon around it. Then I popped up the scalloped heart piece with 3D foam squares. This card has a lot of dimension!

As a finishing touch I added clear shimmer to the wings and glossy accents to the bodies and the tiniest butterflies. I love how it makes the card even more special.

CARD 2

I started again with stamping and colouring the Heartfelt Blooms, just this time I used different blends of the same marker set: Alpine Green Blend, Magenta Blend, Orange Blend, Citrus Blend, Coral Blend, Bright Pink Shades, Aqua Blue Blend, Blue Turquoise Shades, Lavender Blend.

I die cut it with the Heart Frames scalloped heart die and popped it up on an A2 sized card front which I created from teal patterned paper.

I stamped a sentiment on a pink rounded banner (Banner Trio die set) with black ink from the Mom&Dad sentiment set.

As a finishing touch I used glossy accents on the flower centres and dotted details. I love these type of cards when I just want to enjoy colouring and keep the rest of the design simple.
