Newton’s Nook Designs March Release – Day 4

Hello Crafty friends,

It is time to wrap up the March Release week at Newton’s Nook Designs, but before you get your shopping list ready, look at this cute set called Garden Mice! Don’t they just warm your heart?

My card today has an unusual format. I see more and more of these long cards on Instagram and thought of trying one too. I took an 8,5*8,25 piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock and folded in half so the ready card measures 8,5*8,125 inches. I used a thin painter’s tape to mask an even frame all around the sides. Then I applied Tumbled Glass an Twisted Citron Distress inks with a light hand, fading it out at the meeting point to avoid the colours mixing.

Then I used the Cloudy sky stencil to add some blue clouds with the same Tumbled Glass ink. I love the tone on tone look I get this way. I stamped the sentiment at this point in the top middle part of the card with black ink.

I chose 3 of the cute mice from the Garden Mice stamp set and stamped them on Copic friendly cardstock. I used Copic markers to add colour to them and cut them out with the coordinating dies. I mounted them on the scene with 3D foam squares.

After assembling the scene I added a bit of clear shimmer to the flowers and the butterfly, used a black glaze pen on the eyes and added glossy accents to the noses, the butterfly and the middle of the flowers.

I also used some flower sequins and pink jewels (Studio Katia) to make the scene complete.
