Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – DAY 3

Hello Everyone,

We are halfway through the January release reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs but we still have so much cuteness to show you! The new set Puppy Playtime is a perfect “every occasion collection” of the cutest pups. It has coordinating dies as well.

All new products will be available on 24th January. And now let’s dive in my card’s details.

As always I started with stamping and colouring the puppies on white cardstock and coloured them with Copic markers. I stamped extra bones and party hats so they all can have their own accessories for a perfect birthday party.

I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

To set the scene I blended some Salty Ocean Distress ink through the Cloudy sky stencil on pretty blue cardstock. I love the tone on tone look, yet it still gives the background some interest and texture. I die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die and cut grass with the Land border die from light green cardstock.

I wanted the sentiment to stand out, so I used the Pawprint shaker die to carry it. I cut the base from blue cardstock and the frame from dark brown, layered them on top of each other and stamped the sentiment with blue ink.

I assembled the scene, popped up the 3 dogs with 3D foam squares and added the hats and bones too. At this point I felt that the bottom of the card was a bit too heavy compared to the top, so I die cut the word Woof from light green and from a special holographic blue cardstock two times. I layered them on top of each other tiny offset, so it look likes it has a shadow. I really love how it adds to the festive feel and balances the colours!

As a finishing touch I added clear shimmer to the hats and scarf and covered all the bones with glossy accents just as well as the noses. I also emphasized the eyes with a black glaze pen and added a tiny dot in the middle with a white gel pen.
