Happy yappy birthday! – Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

It has been a while since I last wrote a blog post, but I have something adorable to share today: a perfect and easy birthday card for your dog lover friends! I mixed and matched supplies from Newton’s Nook Designs, let me show you the process!

First I stamped and coloured the image from the Birthday Barks stamp set using Copic markers. Then I used the coordinating dies to cut it out.

For the background I used the Confetti Hot Foil plate on Hammermill white cardstock and a holographic gold foil. I warmed up the plate on the Spellbinders Gimmer Hot Foil station, placed the foil, cardstock and the shims and ran it through my die cut machine. This cardstock was a game changer for me, and I still consider myself a beginner at hot foiling. I also foiled a couple of sentiments with black foil using the Birthday Greetings Hot Foil plates. It is lovely to have them at hand for quick cards later too.

I added some quick ink blending on the edges of the cardstock with Abandoned Coral and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide inks. I used a gold shimmer spray when it was done to add a subtle gold sparkle to the whole panel, let it dry and die cut it with a die from the Frames and Tags die set.

I cut the sentiment down to a thin strip and added a black Speech Bubble under it. This will make the whole card very playful. I adhered the foiled background to an A2 sized white notecard, popped up the dogs with 3D foam squares and added the sentiment. As a finishing touch I used a clear shimmer pen, a black glaze pen and glossy accents to emphasize some of the details.

I hope you enjoyed my card and will pop in again soon for more inspiration.

See you,

Zsofi
