Newton’s Nook Designs April Release – Day 4

Hello everyone,

It is always sad when we reach the final day of the reveals, but the good news is that all these adorable products in the Newton’s Nook Designs April Release will be available on Friday, 19/04! Today we are showcasing 2 new small stamp& die sets: Newton’s Bubble Tea and Puppy’s Bubble Tea. Aren’t they adorable?

CARD 1

For my first card I stamped and coloured the cute kitty from Newton’s Bubble Tea using Copic markers. I used the coordinating die to cut it out.

While I was die cutting I cut the base for my shaker with the Basic Frames die set: one banner from kraft and one from guava cardstock. On the latter I die cut a window with another die from the same set. I stamped a sentiment just under the die cut window. I backed it with clear acetate and added thick foam tape around it. I filled the shaker with some pastel confetti (Pretty Pink Posh) and adhered the backing carefully.

For the background I used the Bubbles stencil on a cream note card with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink.

To make the scene more playful, I added some red twine to the top of the card and another sentiment, which I have stamped on a white Speech Bubble. As a finishing touch I used glossy accents on the straw and the bubbles.

CARD 2

For the puppy card I stamped, coloured and die cut the image from Puppy’s Bubble Tea. I used Copic markers and made the tea green. I used the Basic Frames die set to cut a cornflower blue background for the dog and a bigger rectangle from woodgrain cardstock which I ink blended and splattered with black and white acrylic paint before adhering the focal panel on it.

I stamped a sentiment from the same stamp set on the woodgrain cardstock using Stazon ink.

For the background I chose the Woof stencil and used it directly on the card base with Pine Needles, Lucky Clover and Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide inks.

As a finishing touch I added a few lime green confetti and used glossy accents on the straw and bubbles.

Ghostly good times – Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

I am back after a couple of months break from crafting due to our big international move. Pheow, it was long time without my hobby, but I am so happy to be able to craft again! As most of my crafty supplies are still in boxes, I created a very simple yet interactive card using the Ghostly Good Times stamp/die set from Newton’s Nook Designs.

First I stamped the cute cat and dog ghosts and a few extra images from the stamp set and coloured them with Copic markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Then I used a white cardbase and gently inkblended Blueprint Sketch and Mermaid Lagoon Distress inks in the middle with a brush. I made sure to fade out the colours towards the edges. I added water and some metallic white watercolour splatters and stamped the sentiments in the bottom of the card fronts.

I added a small action wobbler on the back of the cat and dog ghosts and adhered them in place. I added some extra sentiments around them and stamped some black stars on the sky as embellishments.

Also adhered the small ghosts and moon too.

As a finishing touch I used a black glaze pen on the eyes and mouth of the ghosts and added a face to the tiny ghosts too. They look so cute! My kids keep playing with these funny interactive cards.

I hope you enjoyed my cards today and got inspired.

See you soon,

Newton’s Nook Designs May Release – Day 4

Hello Everyone,

We have reached the last day of the May Release reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs but we saved the sweetest for last. There cannot be any releases without a new Newton set, right? Today we are showcasing Newton’s Hanging Basket which comes with a coordinating die set,

All new products will be available on 19/05/2023.

For my card I stamped and coloured the sweet image using Copic markers and cut it out with its coordinating die. I imagined a real swinging card so I poked a hole on the nail using a pokey tool and an old mouse pad.

I die cut a scalloped rectangle from patterned paper and a smaller rounded rectangle from vellum using the Frames and Flags die set. The patterned paper is from the Cat’s Life paper pad. I poked a hole also on these two layers an attached the hanging basket to it with a tiny brad. This way it can really swing!

I stamped a sentiment on the bottom of the vellum with Black Staz-on ink and embellished the scene with a bunch of die cut leaves.

As a finishing touch I added clear shimmer to the heart the cat is holding and covered it with glossy accents. I popped up the whole panel with thin foam tape on a green mat before adhering it to a white card base.

Pretty Pink Posh Birthday Release Blog Hop

Hello Everyone,

I am so excited to be part of the new release blog hop with Pretty Pink Posh! They are turning 9 this month and the we celebrate in style with a 4 days long blog hop. The new release is full of birthday themed stamps, dies and stencils, check them out!

For my card I used the Birthday Signs stamp set and stamped the cute crocodile and cupcakes on Neenah Solar White cardstock. I coloured the images with Copic markers and cut them out with their coordinating dies.

While I was die cutting I die cut also 2 tags using the Birthday Sentiments coordinating die set: one white and one aqua as I wanted to make them a see-through shaker tag. I covered the open areas with acetate and used thin foam strips to create a funnel which I filled with Citrus Mix jewels. I also added a decorative eyelet to the top and finished it off with twine. I adhered the croc and the cupcakes and my focal panel was ready!

For the background I used the new Layered Party Hats stencils on lime cardstock. For the first layer I used Twisted Citron Distress Oxide ink, then for the second and third layers I used Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide ink. I love the tone-on-tone look I got this way! To match the party hat of the crocodile, I used Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide for the little star layer, I think it really pops!

I wanted to add another sentiment, so I used the Large Celebrate Shadow die ad cut it from blue metallic cardstock. I wanted it to look as it is foiled, so I did not use the shadow die for it.

As a finishing touch I added a bit of clear shimmer to the party hat and cupcake holders, and added glossy accents tot he candle and the teeth of the croc.

Batty wishes – Heffy Doodle

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to another edition of my Perfect Combos series for Heffy Doodle. I was playing with the new release and came up with a fun interactive design idea. It’s very simple but so cute! Let me show you!

First I coloured one of the bats from the Let’s Hang Out stamp set using Copic markers. Then I cut it out with the coordinating die.

For the background I took a piece of white cardstock and created purple clouds with the Cloudy sky stencil and Villaneous Potion and Milled Lavender Distress Oxide inks. I moved from the top of the cardstock and on the bottom I used the Sleepy Hollow stencil and Black Soot ink for the graveyard. I added a ton of splatters with Finetec Pearlescent Pearl paint and also some diluted purple ink.

I used the Celestial Corner die to cut tiny stars on the top of the stenciled panel and backed it with silver glitter cardstock.

I also die cut the Happy Halloween Shadow word die from purple glitter cardstock and the shadow from black cardstock and adhered them together.

To frame the whole scene I cut the frame from the Elm street die set from purple cardstock and glued it to the scene.

And now the interactive part: I tool a small piece of very thin silver thread and attached one end to the back of my bat with Scotch tape. The other end I attached to the back of sentiment, which I popped up on the card with 3D foam squares. This way the little bat can fly around, so cute! I will have a short video on my Instagram to show you this card in action, visit me there!

I wish you got inspired and ready for Halloween crafts. Don’t forget that every order above 30 GBP gets this adorable freebie, and if you spend above 45 GBP, you will get the coordinating dies too.

See you soon,

Newton’s Nook Designs Birthday Release – Day 2

Hello Everyone,

It is Day 2 of the Newton’s Nook Designs Birthday Release, and the Design Team is featuring the new Birthday Oval stamp set, which coordinates perfectly with the previously released Oval Frames die set.

All new products will be available on Friday, 15/07.

I hardly ever make shaker cards but I want to change that so I designed a fun birthday shaker card for today. First I stamped and coloured the Birthday Oval image with Spectrum noir Triblend markers in rainbow order: Dark Red Shades, Dark Red Blend, Orange Blend, Gold Yellow Blend, Citrus Blend, Dull Green Blend, Citrus Green Blend, Blue Turquoise Blend, Blue Turquoise Shades, True Blue Blend, True Blue Shades, Lavender Blend, Bright Pink Shades, Magenta Blend. I also used some lighter markers: CT05, CG05, BT1, BO05, DR05. I stamped the sentiment in the middle of the panel in black and cut the panel with a scalloped oval.

I used the Oval Frames die set to create a frame. I used Purple Tape from Thermoweb to hold 2 dies together, it helps me to even the space between the two. Then I used Distress Oxide inks for a rainbow ink blending trying to follow the colours I used for the image itself: Villainous Potion, Blueprint Sketch, Peacock Feathers, Mowed Lawn, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Candied Apple and Picked Raspberry.

I adhered a piece of acetate on the back and used 3D foam tape to ensure the height for the tiny star sequins and confetti to shake freely. I will share some shaker card tips on my Instagram.

For the background I used a fun patterned paper from the new Birthday Party paper pad, which I matted with a vivid blue cardstock to give it a frame.

Harry Potter pop-up – Lawn Fawn

Hello Everyone,

My brother turned 40yrs old a few days ago and as he is a board game fan, we got him the Hogwarts Battle – The Monster Box of Monsters. I also made a matching card and I am so proud of the packaging of the game itself, that I wanna share it with you too.

I started with going through my Lawn Fawn stash and looked for images which can fit the Hogwarts theme. I chose: Critters ever after, Bicycle built for you, Costume Party, Science of love. I stamped the images and coloured them with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. The list of colours I used: BG8, BG6, BG4, BG2, BG1, BG05, GB4, CT4, CT2, BO4, BO3, BO1, BO05, AG4, AG2, AG1, AG05, EB8, EB7, EB6, EB5, EB3, RB2, RB1, FS8, FS7, FS6, FS4, DR3, DR05. I cut everything out with their coordinating dies.

I altered the book a little to look like the Monster Box of Monsters. I used a black Memento marker to add details, drew teeth with a white gel pen and added tiny googly eyes. It turned out super cute!

Then I created a Platform pop-up using a pretty Galaxy paper from The Rabbit Hole Design.

I added the images and also die cut 40 (Oliver’s Stitched 123s) from silver sparkle cardstock and adhered it on little acetate strips so it floats in the air. So cool!

I also dressed up the board game to look like the Monster Box of Monsters: I wrapped it in a furry brown scarf and used an old belt to old it together. I cut teeth from typing paper and inserted it under the scarf. For the eyes I die cut two circles from white cardstock and placed 2 large back buttons on them. Funny, isn’t it?

I wish you like it as much as my brother did! Thanks for visiting and hope you pop in again soon! Next week is going to be post-heavy 😉

See you,

Zsofi

Happy Mother’s Day with Newton’s Nook Designs

Hello Everyone,

Mother’s Day is this weekend in the US so I thought I will share with you a lovely Lilac shaker, which is easy to make. I used products from Newton’s Nook Designs.

First I stamped the Lilac image on Bristol Smooth cardstock with Versafine Onyx black ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then I used my Karin Brush markers to paint them quickly. Then I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

For the shaker part I die cut the scalloped frame from Frameworks 4 times and layered them on top of each other, inserting a piece of acetate under the top layer. I also die cut the scalloped rectangle die from the same set from light blue cardstock, it serves as the backing of the shaker. I adhered a few rhinestones on the backing then filled it with some Moonshine Confetti from Simon Says Stamp and Raindrop confetti from Trinity Stamps.

For the background I chose a pretty pattered paper from the Springtime paper pad and decided to add a dark purple mat to the shaker piece. The sentiment is from the Best Mom Oval stamp set, white heat embossed on a ticket shaped die cut from Frameworks.

As a finishing touch I added Liquid Pearls in the middle of the flowers.

I wish you like my card today and got inspired. Hope you check back soon for more fun projects!

See you,

Zsofi

Be my Valentine – Heffy Doodle

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to the Valentine edition of my Perfect Combos series for Heffy Doodle, a cute shaker. I don’t make interactive cards often, even though they are easy to make and who doesn’t like to play with a card which makes sound? Let me guide you through the process.

First I stamped the elephant from the Elephant of surprise stamp set and the balloons from the Popping by stamp set. I used my Copic markers this time to colour them, then I cut everything out with their coordinating dies.

Then I die cut the Stitched Hearts Background die from Holy Mackarel cardstock and used the Fancy Nancy Frames die to cut a window. I cut this from red glitter paper again, I needed the small hearts.

I white heat embossed a sentiment from the Special Day Sentiment Duos stamp set on the bottom of the window panel, turned it around and adhered a piece of acetate to cover the window. I added thick 3D foam tape all around, placed sequins, hearts and gems inside and adhered an A2 white top folding notecard to it. The thicker the foam tape, the better your sequins will move. The one from Heffy Doodle is thicker than anything else I have ever tried, it is the perfect choice for shakers.

The last step was some paper piecing: I added a red glitter heart to each whole on the front. It took me a few minutes but I always liked to play Lego.

With this my card was all finished, but I want to give you an advice: if you make shaker cards, follow the “less is more” rule. I clearly overfilled my shaker, which still looks woderfully pretty, but the filling doesn’t move enough.

I hope you enjoyed my card inspiration and you will try yourself at shaker cards too. If so, show us what you make in the Heffy Doodlers Facebook Group.

See you soon,

Zsofi

Newton’s Nook Designs November Release – Day 3

Hello Everyone,

It is the last day of the November Release reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs and we saved the cutest for last. Snow Angel Newton and Snow Angel Puppy are the cutest critter sets for winter and Roll with it is another funny sentiment one.

All new products will be available on Thursday 18/11!

CARD 1 and 2

I started with stamping the cat and dog from both Snow Angel sets and coloured them with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. I used the following colours: CG3, CG2, CG1, IB3, IB2, IB1, TB5, TB3, TB2, TN4, TN2, TN1, FS7, FS6, EB7, EB6, EB5, EB3, EB1, RB1. I cut the images out with scissors this time and to hide the imperfections, I used a black Memento marker on the edges.

For the background I die cut the postage stamp rectangle die from Frameworks from white cardstock and a slightly smaller rectangle from light blue. I cut another white rectangle just a dash smaller than the blue one to get a layered look. From the latter I cut out the snowbanks using a Land border die.

I stamped the outline of the images with light blue ink on the snowbanks. I did not use any masking, just tried to avoid the cat and dog figures with the mini ink pad. It was easy. I stamped aroud it the little snowflakes.

I did some simple ink blending on the blue panels with Blueprint Sketch and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide inks.I white heat embossed the sentiments and assembled the cards. I used action wobblers to secure the cat and the dog, it makes the cards interactive and so playful! I used kraft card bases to make the focal panels stand out.

As a finishing touch I used Stickles on the edge of the snowbanks and the snow angels.I also covered the scarves and caps with clear shimmer and emphasized the noses with a drop of glossy accents.

CARD 3

First I white heat embossed the Roll with it sentiment on an aqua banner which I die cut with the new Bookmark die. I added a stitched teal baner under it (Frames and Flags die set).

On a white scalloped circle I stamped the Snowflakes Roundabout stamp set with All That Jazz Catherine Pooler ink and as it stays wet a little longer than other inks, I could easily heat emboss it with Altenew Translucent Pearl embossing powder.

I made an ink blended background using the same ink, spritzed it with water and dried it before applying White Glitz Glitter Gel on it through the Snowfall stencil.

When it was all dry I assembled the card: I chopped off part of the circle, adhered the banners and popped them up on the frosty background.
