Newton’s Nook Designs Winter Release – Day 4

Hello Everyone,

We have reached the last day of the Newton’s Nook Designs Winter Release reveals, which is always bitter-sweet. But we saved the best for last: a cute little kitty set called Newton’s Snowman (it also has coordinating dies) and a small but oh-so-pretty sentiment set called Happy New Year.

All new products will be available on 20/11!

CARD 1

I stamped and coloured the Newton’s Snowman stamp on white cardstock using Copic markers. I cut the image out with the coordinating die.

I wanted it to be in the center of attention so I kept the rest of the design simple: I used the Frameworks die set to cut a postage stamp rectangle from lime green cardstock. Then I cut a slightly smaller rectangle from patterned paper (Doodlebug Design) and matted it with white cardstock before adhering to the lime green piece. I popped up the die cut image with 3D foam squares and added the sentiment from the Snowman Roundabout stamp set on a thin black strip.

I chose a kraft card base this time to match the kitties and embellished the image with a clear shimmer pen (scarves), glossy accents (carrot, eyes and buttons of the snowman) and some stickles (caps and snowbanks).

These little details bring this cute image to another level.

CARD 2

To showcase the Happy New Year sentiment set I created a fun slimline card to have enough space for some celebrating kitties. The previously release Newton’s New Year and Newton Celebrates sets are coordinating so well with the new sentiment set!

After stamping, colouring and die cutting the images from the above mentioned sets I was working on the festive background.

I die cut a scalloped slimline rectangle with the Slimline Frames and Portholes die set from Bristol Smooth cardstock. I masked off the scalloped part with Purple Tape (Thermoweb) and applied Speckled Egg, Bundled Sage and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide inks in a light layer. I like to use blending brushes, for me these tools give the smoothest results. Then I used the Bubbly stencil and went back with the same colours just with a heavier hand. To resemble the champagne instead of Squeezed Lemonade I used Scattered Straw this time. After removing the stencil I used water and black and white acrylic paint to add splatters and dried it with my heat tool. I also spritzed the whole panel with glitter spray for a subtle sparkle.

I stamped the Happy New Year sentiment in the middle with black ink and popped up the images on the sides with 3D foam squares.

I added clear shimmer to the champagne and glossy accents to some details and adhered it on a black slimline card base (3,5*8,5 inches).
