Hello Everyone,
I hope you have enjoyed yesterday’s reveals of the Holiday Release from Newton’s Nook Designs. Today we have even more fun for you, 2 extremely cute stamp sets with their coordinating dies:
All the new products will be available on 19/10/2018 at the Newton’s Nook Designs online store an other craft suppliers too.
CAROLING NEWTON
For my card I created the background first by sponging Peacock Feathers Distress ink on Bristol Smooth cardstock. I made it lighter toward the bottom to have an ombre effect. Then I placed the new Music stencil over the panel and sponged more Peacock Feathers ink over it to get a textured, tone-on-tone background. hen it was dry, I die cut it with the postage stamp die from the Frameworks die set.
I stamped and coloured the singing kitties and mice on Copic friendly white cardstock, coloured them with alcohol markers an die cut them with their coordinating dies. To set the scene I also die cut a piece of white glitter paper with the postage stamp die to give the impression of snow.
I adhered the carolling critters on the snowy background using 3D foam squares. The sentiment is a die cut from red glitter cardstock, I used the Holiday greetings die set.
As a finishing touch I added a bit of clear shimmer to the caps and scarves, emphasized some details with glossy accents and made the caps fluffy with a Marvy Snow Marker (I added a bit of liquid carefully and heated it with a heat gun until it puffed up).
THE NUTCRACKER SQUEAK
My daughter is 7 years old and she loves cartoons. One of her favourites is the Barbie version of the Nutcracker story. I was smiling when I saw this stamp/die set as I knew I wanted to make a special shadow box card for her with it. For the technical part of how to make a shadow box card, I advise you to watch Jennifer McGuire’s tutorial.
I stamped, coloured and die cut all the images from The Nutcracker Squeak set, I used Copics to add colour. Then I made my shadow box card using white card stock. For the inside I die cut a stitched rectangle from some aqua patterned paper and die cut some pine trees from white cardstock using the Forest Scene builder set. I quickly added colour to them with my Copics, making sure to leave some white edges to have the illusion of snow on the trees. I also stamped a sentiment from the Sentiments of the Season stamp set.
I used the Land Border dies to cut a stitched slope from white glitter cardstock and adhered it to the background. I popped up my mice with thin foam squares on this. Then I added the little mouse girl and the trumpet on the second layer of my shadow box, finally I finished building the dimensional scene with the present and the drum being on the top layer.
I used my usual tricks to make the images even cuter: glossy accents, clear shimmer on the clothes, a black glaze pen on the eyes and white gel pen dots on the cheeks. I love that it looks like a little theatre scene!
The front of the card I kept simple. I had a stitched rectangle cut from the same patterned paper I used inside, matted with metallic red cardstock. I created a snow globe using the Snow Globe Shaker die set and specialty cardstocks.
I adhered it all flat and placed the ballerina mouse in the middle. I added a white embossed sentiment (from a new sentiment set which you will see in details soon) and a few snowflake sequins embellished with iridescent jewels.
