Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – DAY 4

Hello Everyone,

We have reached the final day of the January release reveals at Newton’s Nook Designs. We saved the best for last: 2 smaller sets with our favourite kitty. All new products will be available tomorrow, on 24th January.

CARD 1

For my first card I started with the background: I always wanted to try Distress Oxide inks over coloured cardstock, so I used the Bokeh Hearts stencil Layer 1 with Warm Lipstick and Layer 2 with Candied Apple over kraft cardstock. I love that these stencils have engraved guides how to layer them on top of each other. So smart!

Then I stamped, coloured and die cut the kitty, flowers and hearts from the Newton’s Valentine set. I made extras as embellishments as usual. I used Copic markers to add colour.

To create a scene I die cut a rounded stitched rectangle using the Frames and Flags die set from vellum as I did not want to cover the pretty stenciled background totally. I cut a grassy border from green cardstock and assembled the scene.

I die cut the stenciled panel with the scalloped rectangle from the same die set and hiding the liquid adhesive behind the die cut critters I layered the vellum over this.

The sentiment I white heat embossed on a dark brown banner (Frames and flags) and added it to the scene.

I used a ton of shimmer on the hearts and covered the smaller ones with glossy accents. I also added glossy accents to the middle of the flowers and the nose of the kitty.

CARD 2

I believe the Newton’s Crafty Cardio is hilarious! Made me laugh big time when I first saw it! So funny!

I stamped the main image and a lot of the little accessories on white cardstock, coloured them with Copic markers using a rainbow of colours and cut everything with the coordinating dies.

On a grey rounded rectangle I popped up the crafty kitty and arranged the accessories at random everywhere. It reminds me of myself while crafting, i make a huge mess in a second 😀

The sentiment I stamped on white cardstock with teal ink and cut it out with a speech bubble die. I used 3D foam squares to adhere it above the crafting kitty.

I matted the panel with pink cardstock and added it to a white top folding card base after adorning it with strips of rainbow patterned paper (Lawn Fawn).

I added clear shimmer and glossy accents to the images and my card was all done!

  5. Like the background on the Kraft paper and the use of vellum for the scene so you didn’t lose the background. Both cards are adorable. Love all the details.
